Chapter 30 - Leave her.

*************Raymond**********

If anyone had ever told me that I'd be so whipped and confused and fucking irrational, I would have punched him in the gut. More times than I can count. But that is my state right now. Whipped like some sorry ass dude.

She drove me crazy last night. I drove in the middle of the night in a fucking red Audi. It might not be a big deal for others but for me, its alot. I do not like driving at night.

Not because of my sight, I'm a werewolf so it's impeccable but because.. I don't just like it. I mean why drive at night, stressing your wolf eyes and scaring the other passerbys with glowing eyes.. I'd rather run in my wolf form than drive. But I drove because I don't want to be on the tabloids by tomorrow.

"BIG BLACK WOLF SEEN ON A ROOF ON THE WESTERN SIDE OF NEW YORK" Typical New York times headline.

Well, the doctors were not able to determine the cause of her headache so I called the pack doctor. His still working on it and I'm sitting outside his office and Fernando is pacing.

"Fernando, sit the fuck down." Darius scolded him " The sound of your ugly feet is affecting my train of thoughts."

"Go think elsewhere, loser. I'm not leaving this place."

They've been bantering for a while now for one reason or another.

"Darius, would you please help me sort out the documents on my desk, and send out the bill of things that need to be brought to the pack. It's almost the end of the month" He wanted to protest but I threw a look at him and he dropped the protest .

"Fine."

"And Fernando -"

" I'm not going anywhere, Ray."

"Yes you are. I need you to get answers from the rouges that were caught at the borders this morning. The longer we leave them idle the stronger their resolve."

" But-"

" No buts, Ferd. We three, sitting and standing outside the pack doctors office is suspicious. So let's go on with our normal business okay? Thank you. I'd come join you soon" I nodded my head dismissing him. Finally some peace..

" Alpha" Steele called. His face looking solemn. Or maybe not. I walked into his office and sat down.

" What's the issue?" I asked keeping a stoic front. He dropped a report before me with a lot of gibberish written. I don't know how doctors do it or why they do it.

"Steele, you know I don't understand half of what's written here.. what is increasing exponentially?"

" Herwerewolfcells" he said in one breath. I couldn't quite get him.

"Come again?" He sighed, sitting on his seat opposite me.

"Her werewolf cells are increasing exponentially" Oh no.

"Exponentially?! Why?"

" I really don't know yet, but I'd keep checking. For the mean time, please look after her closely. It could be because of anything." He muttered the last part. Steele doesn't mutter unless he has a counter thought.

"What is it, Steele?" I said giving him a no shitting look.

"What-" he looked up, recognizing the look. " It's just I'm not sure, okay? It's just a hypothesis. Follow me." He said standing up going through the back of his office to his lab. I followed him into the lab as the doors closed automatically.

"Hmm, your lab is clean today. I like it." I said teasing him. He looked at me in bewilderment.

"What? I've come in here before.. remember?" He shook his head and kept walking. We stopped before a table with a lot of test tubes containing things of different colors and... smells. Yuck .

"Here, stand...here" he pointed at a spot opposite a test tube rack tagged 'Luna'. My heart feels... mushy.

I stood there while he looked into the test tube. He lifted it and brought it closer to his eyes.

" Woah!!! It's you. You are the catalyst! This is crazy. Oh my world"

"Let me see" I took the tube from him and looked into the tube. There were two cell colors in it; white and red and they both seemed to be struggling for... dominance?

" I thought the white blood cells and red blood cells coexist"

"Urgghh, didn't you get what I said earlier? The white cells are her werewolf cells and the red cells are her human cells." He took the tube from my hand and placed it back in the rack.

"Take, move two steps away and peer into the glass" he said giving me a magnifying glass. I did as he said and peered into the glass.

"Woah, their speed has reduced. Red seems to be winning."

" No shit ,Sherlock. So you see what I mean. When you are close to her, her werewolf cells increase but when you are far, her human side takes over."

" Hmm okay. That's interesting news. But the headache? Surely this is not the cause, right?"

" Well, it probably is. I don't have a hypothesis for that yet, sadly. But I'd get to that soon.. hopefully " he muttered.. again.

"Steele... What is it"

"I don't know, something isn't adding up. Her vitals were okay. Not a thing amiss. The MRI results were clean. It has to be something else but what could it be? Are her brain cells reacting too?-" He is thinking out loud.. I'm finished.

"-I mean they should right? The constant change and struggle of the cells would affect the cognitive working of the brain. And probably her brain-blood barrier wouldn't let the 'were' characters flow into the brain. That's probably why she had the headache. Oh God. I'm smoking hot. Shit. I didn't mean to bore you." He said finally noticing the confusion on my face.

"It's okay, I didn't get bored. I totally understand. But what I don't get is why the drugs didn't work. I mean it had been hours since I left her. The 'were' cells should have been recessive by then, right?" I leaned on the table beside me. This is confusing.

"Yeah, they should have.... Wait a minute...unless the population of the 'were' cells had increased and their traits are getting dominant so the brain-blood barrier has to work over time to keep them away...shit.. no way" he said taking a stool and sitting on it.

"Whats the issue?" My heart was beating so fast but that wasn't the scary part.

The scary part is that Ritchie has been quiet through out this ordeal. Makes me think he has a hand in this..if he does... Let's just hope it's good.

" The brain blood vessels are thin and fragile, making them susceptible to damage or corruption. So if the 'were' cells and it's characters become dominant, they could corrupt the vessels and...enter the brain. It will be like a hostile takeover in her brain. It's not going to cute..at all."

"Oh my God.." I rubbed my palm across my face taking in a deep breath. " So what do we do? Tell her?"

" Telling her? Really? That's the best suggestion you could come up with."

" Pray tell me then, Mr Davis Steele. What do I do?" I said in exasperated.

"Well, that's easy. Leave her."
