Chapter 12 - Journey to capital

On a bright and sunny day, a carriage rolled down the road, its wheels clattering rhythmically against the cobblestones. Inside the carriage sat a young boy, looking around 15 to 16 years old. He was tall, standing at about 1.78 meters, with long white hair that cascaded down to his shoulders. His handsome features were striking, even with his eyes closed in a moment of quiet reflection. This boy was none other than Evan, now 13 years old.

Evan had grown significantly over the past few years, both in stature and in skill. His training with Luna and his father had honed his abilities, and he was now embarking on a journey to the capital city of Eldoria, Elysium, to attend the prestigious academy.

The carriage was luxurious, befitting his status as the son of Adrian Noir, who held the noble rank of Count. The interior was lined with plush cushions, and the windows offered a clear view of the passing countryside. Evan opened his eyes, taking in the scenery with a sense of anticipation.

The road to Elysium was long, but Evan was eager to see what awaited him there. He had heard many stories about the bustling city, with its grand buildings, vibrant markets, and the majestic palace where the king resided. This journey was not just a trip to the capital, it was a step towards his future at the academy.

As the carriage moved steadily along the road, Evan's thoughts drifted to his family and his teachers. He remembered the intense training sessions with Luna, her stern yet caring guidance shaping his magical abilities. He thought of his father, Adrian, whose combat training had instilled in him a sense of discipline and strategy.

Evan also thought about the day Luna revealed her true identity to him. She had told him that she was an elf, a being of great wisdom and longevity. Luna had shared all her knowledge with Evan, preparing him for the challenges ahead. Before she left, she mentioned that she was returning to her homeland in the Sylvaris Continent, a place where elves, fairies, and other nature beings resided.

"If you ever wish to see me again, Evan, you can find me in Sylvaris," Luna had said, her voice soft but firm. "I need to visit my master, your grandmaster, and continue my own training."

Evan had felt a mix of emotions at her departure. He was grateful for everything she had taught him, but he also knew he would miss her presence. The thought of visiting Sylvaris one day filled him with a sense of adventure and curiosity.

His thoughts then wandered to Caera, the daughter of Duke Castro. Caera often visited Evan's home, and they spent a lot of time together. They would talk, play, and sometimes even train together. Caera was a spirited girl, and her presence always brought a sense of joy to Evan's life. However, there was always an odd tension between Caera and Luna. The two seemed to have a silent rivalry, each trying to outdo the other in subtle ways, she also said was to be going to academy and she meet him on academy result day.

Evan also thought about his younger sister, Aria. At 8 years old, Aria was a bright and cheerful girl with a natural talent for magic. She looked up to Evan and often tried to mimic his spells, much to the amusement of their family. Evan missed her dearly and hoped she was doing well back home.

The carriage passed through small villages and vast fields, the landscape changing as they drew closer to Elysium. Evan could feel the excitement building within him. He was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, confident in his abilities and the support of those who believed in him.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the horizon, the silhouette of the capital city came into view. The towering spires and bustling streets were a sight to behold.

The carriage rolled through the gates of Elysium, Evan's eyes widened with wonder. The capital city was even more magnificent than he had imagined. The streets were bustling with activity, filled with people from all walks of life. Merchants called out to passersby, hawking their goods, while children ran and played in the narrow alleyways.

The buildings of Elysium were a sight to behold. Tall and majestic, they stood as a testament to the kingdom's rich history and architectural prowess. The intricate carvings and vibrant colors of the facades reflected the city's grandeur and elegance. Evan's carriage moved steadily through the streets, drawing the attention of onlookers who recognized the emblem of the Noir family.

Evan's heart raced with excitement as he took in the sights and sounds of the city. The aroma of freshly baked bread and exotic spices filled the air, mingling with the scent of blooming flowers from the many gardens and parks scattered throughout Elysium. Street performers entertained the crowds with their music and acrobatics, adding to the lively atmosphere.

The carriage made its way towards the heart of the city, where the prestigious Arcana Academy of Elysium awaited. As they approached the academy gates, Evan could see the sprawling campus with its grand buildings and lush green lawns. The academy was renowned for its rigorous high training in both magic and combat.

Before heading to the academy, the carriage took a detour to the Noir family's mansion. Evan's father, Adrian Noir, had arranged for him to settle in at their city residence before starting his studies. The mansion was a grand structure, befitting their noble status, with beautifully landscaped gardens and a stately facade.

Evan stepped out of the carriage, his heart pounding with anticipation. He was greeted by the household staff, who welcomed him warmly and helped him with his belongings. The interior of the mansion was just as impressive as the exterior, with elegant furnishings and intricate decorations that reflected the family's esteemed position.

After settling into his room and freshening up, Evan took a moment to explore the mansion. He walked through the grand halls, admiring the artwork that adorned the walls. The mansion felt both familiar and new, a place where he could find comfort and inspiration as he embarked on this new journey.

Once he was ready, Evan returned to the carriage, which then made its way to the academy. As they passed through the gates, Evan felt a mix of excitement and nervousness.

The carriage came to a stop in front of the main building of the Arcana Academy of Elysium, and Evan stepped out, taking a deep breath. He looked around at the other students, some of whom were already engaged in training exercises.

With a final glance back at the city, Evan walked towards the academy entrance, as he entered the academy grounds, Evan was informed that the entrance exam would take place in two days.
