"Mummy, can I get that one?" My sister asked, her small mind and little eyes completely fixed on a stuffed bear placed on display, which from what I could see was '49.99$ + tax'.
"Dear," My mom responded "We came here to buy things we need for the move, teddy bears aren't necessary."
But Ki would beg to differ "But mom! I can decorate my room with it," She tried to explain "Just look at it, it's so cute."
Me, not wanting to have 50 dollars wasted on an overpriced teddy bear, looked up from my phone and interjected "Ki, we're moving into grampa's and they're not taking anything out, it's already decorated. Three teddies are enough to fill up any free space."
"Y-yea, b-but look at it!" Her twelve year old mind showed its still developing nature, as being dumb.
I was not impressed, returning to my phone "As long as you can convince mom, but don't come to me after you fumble."
Ignoring her next few words, I scrolled through Viper net. Though I had been posting near-daily a month or so ago about my personal life completely honestly, recently I've been posting a few half-truths for more content.
There was a plan brewing, but it needed a few more minutes in oven before I seriously considered setting up a pump and dump crypto coin.
"Trish, get off the phone," Mom said "Are you going to help me or not?"
But I did not flinch in the slightest as I quickly retorted back "You were the one that wanted us to come to the store instead of staying at home or letting Ki stay with dad at the car, so she's your problem."
"Then can you go bring this cart back to the car?" She asked, wanting to have the family multi-task in order to save time.
I looked at it, and thought for a moment "Give me the money for it and I'll bring it over."
She sighed while taking out her wallet "How much is it?"
I walked over and ignored the obviously pissy Kiara who humphed while I walked past, her annoyance being irrelavent. I took one of each thing inside, looked at the label and did some quick mental math before giving a calm report "Around 23 50."
A few moments of rummaging later, I was given a pair of 10 dollar bills and 1 5 dollar bill... I'd make sure to keep the change "I'm off then."
With muscles born of semi-consistant training over the last month, I used merely one hand to take over the now unused card and steer it to the counter, taking my sweet time as he scrolled for anything worth knowing about pyramid schemes as mom dealt with Ki behind me.
Though, suddenly, the phone rung in a low and insessent tone. The one who made the call?
'Rachel'- Or at least that was the name she used to have on my phone, now it was 'Toxic narcissist'.
After a moment of thought, I nodded and took up the call. I was still very much angry at her, and even if it wasn't the most sigma thing I could do- Accepting a call from my ex- Maybe there was something of value to be gained.
Like; entertainment... Though first I had to do was stop squeezing the shopping cart, I didn't want to get sued for commercial violence.
