Chereads / My Divine Heritage / Chapter 10 - Changes

Chapter 10 - Changes

"My Liege, you summoned me." A man claded in knight armour said as he went down on one knee, slightly bowing his head before another who sat regally on a golden throne.

The throne was carved out of pure gold that it glitters under the golden light of the hall. By the side of the throne are two sculptured dragons also carved entirely out of gold. The steps to the throne are wide and long and are made out of fine marbles that they sparkle under the lighting of the hall.

"I was told about the situation in Olympus and according to my sources, the elders of the council had gone to meet with the Oracle. Tell me, what was it that they discussed." The one sitting on the golden throne asks, his deep voice commanding respect as he spoke.

"You are right My Liege. The elders of the council went to inquire of the Oracle but as for what they spoke of, it was concerning the divination of the ordained." The knight answered without raising his head in the slightest.

Upon hearing those words, he who sat on the throne had his face crumble into a deep frown. His gaze flickered with a wicked glint as he ponders on those words for a moment.

"The Divination Of The Ordained." The man repeated, "What does that have to do with anything." He asks, his eyebrows still knitted into a frown.

"My Liege, according to the Oracle, the Messiah has arisen. The time if the prophecy draws nearer the more." The knight replies.

The Liege hums in acknowledgement before speaking up once more, "And what about our associates? Has their job been completed?" As he spoke, one could clearly hear the wicked intent in his tone.

"Negative My Liege. The Coven is yet to bound the chosen. They have failed terribly in their assignment."

The knight shudders as the temperature in the throne room suddenly got to subzero. His Liege is angry and he could feel it.

"Failed!" The man thundered out, his voice echoing in the large hall, "How useless of them. They couldn't even get one simple task done and yet they dare boast that they are the definition of doom. Return now and tell them that they have but a few days to complete the task assigned to them or they shall taste their doom."

"Your wish is my command My Liege." The knight rise on his feet before walking out of the suffocating hall.

"Just a little long brother and I shall crush you beneath me." The man on the throne swore, his expression is vicious as he stares into space.

Not in this lifetime would he let what belongs to him goes to a bastard. Never! It is over his dead body.

*********

Quincy woke up with the most excruciating hangover he felt he ever had evnif he hadn't tasted alcohol. The pain is unlike something he had never felt before as he touched his throbbing forehead to soothe the pain.

This is the second day in a row something like this is happening to him, all thanks to his best friend. Maintaining a rather stable sitting posture on the bed, Quincy let out a gasp of shock as he notice the strange room he woke up into.

"Where am I?" He mutters to himself. He is pretty sure that he didn't wound up in his house last night as he remembers he passed out back in those creepy tunnels.

Of course, the tunnels! But right now, where he is sitting in doesn't look like the old, ancient tunnels that almost collapsed on him so where in Celestial Falls is he.

"Nice, you are awake." Quincy was still engrossed in trying to form a coherent thought on how he ended up in this unfamiliar luxurious bedroom when the creaking sound of the door opening jolted him out of his trance.

Turning to look at the entrance to the bedroom, he saw a familiar face walking out and he couldn't help but blurt out a name, "Celeste?"

"What is going on? How did I get here? When did I got here? Where is this place...." And Quincy trailed on with a list of questions that almost caused Celeste's brain to pop out of her skull.

For someone who has been brought back from the dead, he sure knows how to ask a lot of question, Celeste thought.

With a warm smile, she drew near Quincy with a tray in her hands. Placing the tray on the bed stool by Quincy, she moved her hand to feel his forehead with the back of her palm.

"The gods be praised. Your fever is going down." She heaved a sigh of relief as she places both hands on her chest, "You made everyone of us so worried for you. They even thought you were going to die as your injuries were quite severe."

Her tone is laced with worry and concern as she spoke. Quincy just say transfixed on the bed not knowing how to reply. He is sure that he is beginning to go crazy at the sight of Celeste. He has no idea what she is doing here with him neither does he comprehend her strange attitude nor her actions of concern. God help him before he lose his mind completely.

However, what Quincy grasped in her words is the 'they' she used. Which 'they' was she referring to. Are there more people out there and were they also worried about him. What is really going on? Quincy thought in confusion.

"Would you please tell me how I ended up here? The last thing I remember is passing out in a tunnel or cave." He says with uncertainty. He really needs to clear his confusion or else he might go crazy the next instant out of confusion.

"First, you should freshen up and eat. Then, only then, will I tell you everything you want to know." Celeste said, walking towards the door. "Don't forget to eat your food while it is still hot." Celeste reminded before closing the door behind her as she walks out of the room.

The sound of the door against the wall brought Quincy back to reality as he withdrew his stare from the entrance. Turning his gaze to the tray placed in the stool, Quincy debated whether to eat the food or not. After few moments of debating, he decides not to even have a taste as he is yet to trust Celeste or any of the 'they' she was referring to.

However, the growling sound of his stomach betrayed his decision. "Ah, screw it." He said as he brought the tray to himself. He would eat now and decide later whether to trust them or not.

As the first spoon of the soup touched his mouth, Quincy groaned with satisfaction. He must admit that the food is quite delicious and within a twinkle of an eye, he had gobbled down the rest of the food. Damn! he must admit that might be the best meal he had in years.

Placing the tray back on the stool, Quincy made his way to the bathroom to freshen up. He almost screamed as he saw his reflection in the bathroom mirror. It was like he couldn't even recognize himself.

Celeste had mentioned something about severe injuries but why is it that his body is spotless that there is no sign of even the slightest scratch on it.

As if that wasn't weird enough, Quincy took a good look at his appearance. His once short golden locks are now longer as they fell down to his shoulders while his face looks much more chiseled than that of an impoverished eighteen years old kid.

What had they done to him? How did his body suddenly change? Quincy's mind went mad with questions. Though, his body has changed, that doesn't necessarily implies that he hates the changes. What kind of boy wouldn't desire an athletic physique anyways?

As Quincy took an admiration to his changed physique, the colour of his eyes suddenly took all of his attention. Those dull golden pair of eyes now glow like there is some kind of fire within them. It is as if a flame has been kindled in his eyes.

"Is this also part of the change?" Quincy examines his eyeball to make sure that they are still in good shape and when nothing felt out of place, besides the glow in them, he shrugs his shoulders before proceeding with his business.

He has a long day ahead of him and tons of questions that demand answers.
