He threw the stick of his cotton candy away, he had just licked it finish, with a bust of speed Luca propelled himself toward the girl, the wind whistle past his ear, Luca's gaze was only on the girl he felt he had to save her but he couldn't ignore what was happening, as he looked over at the people walking along the sidewalks, it seemed as though they have stopped moving, no, it wasn't that they stop moving, they were still walking but incredibly slow, even slower than a snail, Luca didn't know how he knew but he just knew the reason was that his senses and speed increased exponentially.
He was surprised and at the same time running to save the girl, he felt his heart almost on the verge of jumping out as it beat rapidly and violently.
Just a little more.
He thought, his teeth clenched at the amount and force of the air whistling past his face due to his speed, almost reaching the girl, the girl appeared to be the kid who Luca had helped find her mum in the park in summer.
Luca was surprised but he had a mission to fulfill.
In a moment, he felt his legs grow weak, so weak that they almost collapsed, he could even tumble at any moment due to the speed.
What??!!
Luca was shocked as his legs gave way like an old lady's legs after a long day of standing.
All he could do was stretch his right hand, which happened to reach the girl's back, he pushed her away slightly with every ounce of his strength. The truck sped like a runaway freight train, knocking Luca off the road. He couldn't even confirm if he had saved the girl.
Luca blacked out immediately, after a while he opened his eyes, he was already placed on a stretcher.
Luca was knocked off about twenty meters away from the girl, although he could feel his vision fading, he could still see the girl being strapped on a stretcher, some distance away from where he was.
But something strange happened.
The two paramedics with her were saying something as their lips kept moving, and Luca could hear them clearly as if they were speaking directly to his ear.
~her pulse is fading~
~hurry!!
~Poor girl~
They said in a quivered and panicked voice.
Luca didn't have time to comprehend what was happening as his vision faded completely.
****
Luca's eyes fluttered open, his blurry vision becoming clearer by the second, a white ceiling came into view. His brain had yet to grasp the current situation, and he felt as if he shouldn't leave the spot. He knew he was lying on a bed, but the sensation of the mattress cradling his body was just too good as he lay sprawled on the bed like a starfish.
Suddenly, he sat up as if he had grasped the situation he was in, but it was thanks to the medicinal odor of the hospital, which was unpleasant to Luca and made him want to puke.
He cast aside the blanket, donned in a patient gown, and noticed the various sensors attached to him, linking him to the patient monitor displaying his vital signs.
"What the hell! They plan to admit me?" Luca exclaimed.
"Let's calm down," he thought, he knew he couldn't blame them, for someone knocked off by a speeding truck about 20 meters away, it was quite a miracle he was alive, he wasn't even sure how he had survived, perhaps he had already had a cracked skull and several broken ribs plus a broken femur but thanks to some sort of powerful mind-blowing painkiller he was given that doesn't let him feel any pain, that was what Luca could come up with, he wasn't even sure if such ground-breaking science existed but he cast aside that thought, looking around, no one was coming...
His gaze shifted to the patient monitor, but what he saw made his heart start to pound as if it would jump out of his chest any moment except that it only made the matter worse, on the patient monitor, Luca's heart rate was 600 BPM, his heart beats 600 times per minute, Oxygen saturation was 500, that is, his hemoglobin could bind and transport oxygen at levels five times greater than a typical person, resulting in an astonishing oxygen saturation level of 500%, while his Respiratory rate was 120, meaning 120 breaths per minute, an intake of oxygen at an unprecedented rate. Now it was starting to increase as Luca's heart kept pounding.
Luca breathed in and out, calming himself down, he was a rational guy even though he knew what his body was undergoing wasn't normal, like even if a person had a vacuum pump as lungs they shouldn't be able to breathe 120 times per minute.
Luca concentrated as he felt the flow of air enter his nose, it was just normal breathing.
Is this for real?
He thought.
But the Oxygen saturation level stood high and mighty supporting the weird claim on the monitor screen.
Luca removed every sensor attached to his body and tried to stand.
"Whoa!" He was surprised to feel his leg; he shook every part of his body like a wet hen trying to dry off.
I don't know how this happened but I guess I kinda have some super healing power.
That was what Luca could come up with, there was no mind-blowing painkiller, he thought about his weird dancing strands of hair, how he had sped so fast that people appeared to be moving slowly, normally he should have seen blur since he was speeding, Luca thought it was something more akin to sharpening of senses, like how he could hear those nurses strapping that girl to a stretcher about 20 meters away, the thought of this made him think about the girl, did she survived, how bad was her injury, multiple questions raced across his mind, he had plainly survive a devastating accident.
"Wait, speaking of acute senses, what are these mutterings I'm hearing!!...
