"Who should I bring with me?" The first person that came to mind was Kevin. He had the strength to protect himself even if an unexpected situation arose, but he still hadn't fully recovered.
I frowned as I scanned the crowd. My gaze soon stopped at a certain individual. It was Corporal Martin Williams. Other than Kevin, he was the only person in the group who wouldn't be a hindrance to me. His physical abilities were definitely above average with his training as a police officer.
Thinking about this, I walked towards him.
Martin seemed to have noticed me and was a bit taken aback.
"Speak of the devil! We were thinking about how to approach you. I didn't expect that you would come to us first." He muttered with a light smile.
Hearing this, I raised my eyebrows in confusion.
I looked at the people he was with and I only noticed that it was actually Jonathan's group.
"Are you also thinking of going back to the train to look for supplies?" Jonathan spoke.
As expected of Jonathan, he also thought of searching the train to look for supplies.
"That's right." We had the same plan which made things easier.
Jonathan seemed to have expected my response. He adjusted his glasses and said. "I've already discussed it with Corporal Martin. The group is in dire need of food. Many of us are injured so we must also look for some medicines. To make our search more effective, we need at least five people with high stamina in the search group. We don't know if more of those monsters are hiding out there so it's necessary for the members of the search party to be fast and physically fit. That way, we can minimize our losses in case something comes up. We only had four people earlier so we thought about inviting you or the bodybuilder over there."
"Don't bother him. He still hasn't fully recovered. Anyway, are you sure that you guys will be up for the task? I mean Corporal Martin should be fine, but what about the three of you?"
They frowned when they heard my words.
"If one of you will encounter those monsters, are you confident that you can outrun them?"
"Don't worry. We won't hold you back." Jonathan replied calmly, but the other two didn't look as confident as him.
"When you were fighting with those beasts, I was observing their speed. I don't know the exact quantification of their speed, but it should be around 10. All three of us have at least 10 points in our speed and stamina." He added.
I stared at him deeply. This guy's observation ability was impressive. 'Did he awaken a trait related to observation?'
"Fine." Since he had vouched for his group, I decided to trust him temporarily. "Do you have any plans in mind?" I asked tentatively.
"Of course. We can't leave the safe zone without any strategy. Here's my plan…"
Jonathan's plan was more detailed than I had thought. He strongly emphasized a few things that we need to consider the moment we step out of the safe zone. The first was about the path that we should take and which cabins should we search for. He mentioned that there was a medicine kit in one of the cabins and searching for this medicine kit was my main task. The others were instructed to search for food, water, and other essential items.
Another point that he mentioned was conditional since we only had to follow it if a Devourer would appear. Jonathan said that if one of those monsters appeared, the members must prioritize their safety over their tasks and if possible, lure the monster to my location since I was the only one who could kill them.
"Are you guys ready?" Jonathan asked.
I nodded.
The others also nodded in response.
"Remember your tasks well and don't do anything that would endanger the group. Let's go."
The people soon discovered what we were doing and they were stunned when they saw us leaving the safe zone.
"What are those guys doing?"
"Are they planning to search for food inside the train?" Some smart people realized our intentions. They also thought about doing this, but they were too afraid to leave the safe zone.
Apple who was helping the nurse take care of the injured heard the commotion. She turned her head to look for that familiar figure, but he was nowhere to be found. "What's going on?" She asked someone.
"The professor went out of the safe zone with four people. They are probably going to search for supplies inside the train."
Hearing this, Apple realized that Mark might have joined the search party. She could only pray in her heart that nothing would happen to him and the others.
In just a little while, I was already on the train. There were bags, gadgets, and other items scattered all over the place. I guessed that some people must have left their things out of panic. Not everyone managed to bring their stuff with them since everything happened unexpectedly at that time. This was also our goal for this search, the items left behind by the passengers.
'I'll take a look at them later after I find the medicine kit.' I thought to myself as I looked around the cabin, searching for that specific box where the medicine kit was located.
It only took me a few seconds to find the medicine kit. It was meant to be found quickly so it was placed in a very noticeable spot. "There you are."
I grabbed the medicine kit and opened it.
Inside were a bunch of medicines and other miscellaneous items necessary for first aid and survival.
After making sure that I found the right item, I went to inspect the bags scattered all over the floor.
While I busied myself with the task, I heard a familiar roar in the distance. It was them! They came as I had expected. 'I don't have time to search the bags one by one!' Left with no choice, I could only take the bags which I believe contained food and essential items.
After filling all the slots in my inventory, I jumped out of the cabin to regroup with the others.
However, the roaring intensified and it seemed like there was more than one Devourer!
Looking back, I saw more than ten Devourers running towards our direction at full speed, causing the railway bridge to faintly tremble.
