Chapter 4 - Special Trait

[As the only player to reach the last level of the monster wave game, you have been rewarded with a special trait!]

[The trait 'Triple Feast' has been added to your character profile!]

[Triple Feast]

- The rewards and experience you receive will be increased!

I was stunned by the sudden notification on the screen.

'What's this? I don't remember a trait like this in the game.' It was then that I remembered the special reward mentioned by the game developer in his announcement.

According to the notification, I was the sole player who reached the highest level in the monster wave game. This means that I was the only one with this trait.

[Due to the effects of your trait 'Triple Feast', the rewards you received will be adjusted.]

[2 EXP has been added.]

[10 Chaos Coins have been added.]

[10 bonus stat points have been added.]

[Your reward will be adjusted for clearing the mission.]

[You can only choose one weapon.]

• Uncommon Steel Sword [Damage: 2~10] [Effective Range: 1 meter]

• Uncommon Bow [Damage: 3~11] [Effective Range: 30 meters]

• Uncommon Spear [Damage: 2~12] [Effective Range: 3 meters]

• Uncommon Axe [Damage: 5~15] [Effective Range: 0.5 meters]

• Uncommon Steel Mace [Damage: 4~12] [Effective Range: 1 meter]

• Uncommon Dagger [Damage: 2~9] [Effective Range: 0.3 meters]

• Uncommon Shield [+6 Defense]

• Uncommon Hammer [Damage: 2~8] [Effective Range: 0.3 meters]

The weapons' rating changed!

'I understand how my trait works now…' Unknowingly, I was able to quickly adapt to the changes in reality.

'I don't need to be afraid inside the safe zone. In the game, no monsters could enter the safe zone. It's probably the same here.' I thought.

Since I didn't have to worry about my safety, I took my time to choose my weapon.

I had to consider my proficiency when choosing one.

The bow needed skill and years of experience for one to master it so I eliminated it on my choices. The shield is useful in protecting myself. However, without the means to attack, I would be unable to fight the monsters. I eliminated the shield next.

Among the remaining weapons, the mace was the only one that didn't require much skill. You only need sufficient strength to wield it. Other than that, there was also the hammer, but its range was limited.

The dagger should be the easiest to master, but the thought of having to fight monsters up close didn't sit well with me.

The axe was the most lethal on the list, but it needed accuracy to perfectly hit the target with the axe's blade.

After careful thought, only three weapons fit my current situation. The most versatile of them all is the sword. The most lethal with less skill needed, is the mace. And lastly, the longest range among the melee weapons is the spear.

I spent another minute before I made my final choice.

[You received x1 Uncommon Steel Sword.]

[Please check your inventory.]

At this moment, another change happened on the holographic screen.

An inventory function appeared.

Out of curiosity, I clicked the chest-like image on the screen.

Ten square slots appeared on my screen. In one of the slots was the Uncommon Steel Sword, while the rest were empty.

'How do I take out the sword?'

Instinctively, I stretched out my arm and grabbed onto the slot where the sword was held.

'I can feel it!'

When I sensed the feeling of touching something, I made a pulling gesture. Just like magic, the Uncommon Steel Sword was pulled out of the slot from the holographic screen!

"You're alive! I'm glad you're alive!"

Suddenly, I heard a sobbing voice behind me. I turned around and saw the old veteran walking toward me. His face was covered in tears and an expression of guilt. He was still carrying the little girl in his arms.

"Sir…" I was also glad to see them safe.

I noticed that he looked tired so I placed the sword back in my inventory.

It occurred to me naturally. I just pushed the sword into one of the empty slots and it disappeared from my hands.

I took the little girl from the old man.

"Don't call me sir. My name is Fabian. Just call me Uncle Fabian." The old man said as he wiped his tears with the back of his hand.

I smiled and nodded. "Alright, Uncle Fabian. My name is Mark Joseph. You can call me Mark or Joseph. Mark Joseph is fine too."

"I'll call you Mark then. By the way, is it alright for us to stay here? Those monsters are coming this way. Some people already left. Should we escape too?" Fabian sounded anxious.

"We will be fine inside the safe zone. As for the people who left the safe zone, I don't think they will be safe…" In truth, I wasn't completely certain. After all, this was reality so the same game logic might not apply here. The only thing that made me confidently stay inside the safe zone was the consistent similarities. Until now, no discrepancies happened yet.

Fabian was confused by my words, but I didn't bother to explain. He would eventually learn about these things.

The old veteran trusted my words and stayed with me inside the safe zone.

During this time, the people who remained in the safe zone had already chosen their weapons. Most of them chose the sword, while the rest chose something else.

Jonathan also taught them how to take out their weapons from their inventory. For someone who didn't play the game, he was quick to discover things. He was indeed a smart guy.

The weapon he chose was the spear.

I also told Uncle Fabian to select his weapon. Contrary to my expectations, he didn't show much reaction to the unscientific phenomenon that was the holographic screen. Unlike me who spent a long time choosing, Uncle Fabian made his choice in just a few seconds. The weapon he selected was also the sword.

While he was familiarizing himself with the holographic screen, I focused my attention on my character profile.

Mark Joseph Dublin [Level 1] EXP: 3/10

Chaos Coins: 15

Strength: 10

Stamina: 10

Speed: 11

Endurance: 10

Initially, I planned on saving my stat points before allocating them. However, I no longer had to worry about where to allocate them since I had the 'Triple Feast' trait that increased the rewards and experience I received.

I allocated 3 points each to my speed, strength, and stamina. 'These three stats will be crucial for my survival. Now, I'm only left with 6 stat points. I will save it for the time being.'
