"Go and bring the rest of the survivors inside the safe zone and don't let them get out until all the monsters are eliminated," I told the police officer.
"Ah… Y-Yes, sir!" The police officer responded in a daze.
After nodding at the police officer and the muscular man, I went straight to my next target.
It was a good thing that the Devourers were scattered so I didn't have to worry about fighting them simultaneously. They didn't even seem to care about the death of their brethren. They continued to feast on the flesh of the unlucky passengers they caught.
Some of the victims were still alive. Their pitiful screams and pleas for help drifted into my ears. They were strangers, but seeing my fellow humans suffer in such an atrocious manner filled my heart with rage.
I didn't choose the closest Devourer, I moved to one that was clutching a girl wearing a school uniform. Her hair was messy so I couldn't see her face, but the uniform was very familiar. 'It's her…' I suddenly thought of the girl who bumped into my back when the train suddenly stopped.
"H-Help…" Her voice was weak, but she was still alive.
Other than her, there were also more people beneath the Devourer's feet. From the looks of it, this beast was collecting its prey. However, most of them showed no signs of movement so I guessed that they were probably dead.
At this moment, the beast finally took notice of my presence. It showed a human-like expression of anger as if it was irritated that I disturbed its meal.
The Devourer dropped the female student and roared as it rushed to me.
Its wild behavior and savagery made me feel a bit nervous. I could have chosen to stay inside the safe zone, but my monotonous life flashed in my mind at that moment. I was dissatisfied with that kind of life. I don't want to live like that again! I was sick of mediocrity!
It felt like a dying ember was lit ablaze. My blood was pumping crazily. The movements of the Devourer seemed to have slowed down. I easily avoid its claws with a few simple movements. When I got close enough, I pushed my sword into its chest.

[Cold-Blooded]
- You have the ability to remain calm in any situation.
It was a simple trait, but in times like this, having a cool head would greatly increase your survival.
After killing the Devourer, I rushed to the survivors to check their pulse. Including the female student, three more were still breathing. However, one of them was heavily injured. He had a deep cut on his chest that exposed his ribs. Given the state of his injuries, I don't think he would survive. I could only pray that a miracle would happen.
"I need a hand here!" I waved at Jonathan's group who were still catching up to me.
A moment later, they finally arrived.
"What do you need?" Jonathan asked while looking at me.
I pointed at the female student and the survivors. "These people are still alive. Dress their wounds and bring them back to the safe zone."
Jonathan didn't move immediately. "Are you planning to kill all those creatures by yourself?" He asked.
"Someone has to do it," I muttered. I don't understand why, but I was strangely guarded around Jonathan.
It was probably because of my bad experience with smart people. I hate interacting with people like him. It felt like they had ulterior motives. Of course, these were just my biased thoughts.
After satisfying his curiosity, I resumed my hunt. I didn't want anyone to steal my prey. I knew I was being selfish, but I'm done with being a pushover.
To increase my hunting efficiency, I added all my unallocated stat points to my speed.
Speed: 14 —> 20
I felt light as a feather and I could move with much ease.
With the added stat points on my speed, it only took me less than ten seconds to kill the fourth Devourer.
Every time I swung my sword, I felt less air resistance. This was probably because of the increase in my speed stat.
Increasing my speed didn't just improve my movement speed, it also enhanced my reflexes and dexterity. Because of this, it inadvertently positively affected the consumption of my stamina.
When I killed the fifth Devourer, the remaining ones finally realized that I was a huge threat to them. They abandoned their prey and charged at me aggressively.
If it was before, I would have screamed in panic at the sight of five humanoid monsters rushing toward me. However, I felt eerily calm. My eyes were devoid of emotion. It was probably because of the new trait I got, the Cold-Blooded trait. I thought.
Looking at the five incoming Devourers, I calmly analyzed my next move. My brain pictured the most effective path that I should follow to eliminate the monsters. All of this happened in just an instant.
Just when everyone thought that I would fall victim to their combined attacks, I twisted my body to an unnatural angle and stabbed out my sword which penetrated deeply into the throat of the Devourer.
When I pulled out my sword, blood gushed out from the hole I made. The injured Devourer stared at me in shock. It grabbed its neck and struggled to breathe. Its face changed color and it soon collapsed to the ground. Blood continued to leak out of its neck which slowly formed a small puddle of blood underneath its dying body.
At this moment, my attention was already on the four remaining Devourers. With my advantage in speed, I managed to avoid all the fatal attacks while also inflicting damage on the four monsters.
My sword moved like a mirage. Despite my lack of formal training in swordsmanship, I was able to cover up my mistakes with a large volume of swift sword strikes.
Unknowingly, I found myself standing in the middle of the corpses of the Devourers that fell under my sword…
