"Yes, Regina?" Agent Ross replied, his eyes still fixed on the stairs, his expression thoughtful.
"We may have underestimated her," Regina said, her voice low and concerned. "She's more clever than we thought."
Agent Ross nodded in agreement. "Yes, she is. But we still have the upper hand. We just need to adjust our approach."
Edward leaned forward, his eyes narrowing. "I don't like it. She's getting too confident. We need to take control back."
Agent Ross's expression turned cold. "I agree. We'll need to tighten the screws. Make her realize who's in charge here."
Regina's eyes gleamed with determination. "Let's do it. We can't let her think she's won."
The three of them sat in silence for a moment, plotting their next move, determined to regain control over Moselia and the situation.
"what have you conclude then? I've noticed the way you look at her agent Ross, don't tell me you have something for my daughter? Considering the fact that I might consider marrying her to you? what Ideas are you getting"
This time her father said as the servants cleared the table
Agent Ross's expression turned beet red as he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Ah, Edward, no, no, nothing like that. I assure you, my interest in Moselia is purely professional."
Regina raised an eyebrow. "Save it, Agent Ross. We've seen the way you look at her. You can't deny it."
Agent Ross cleared his throat, attempting to composed himself. "I... appreciate her intelligence and determination, yes. But my focus is on the mission, on uncovering the truth."
Edward sneered. "The truth? You mean the truth about Zayn? Or the truth about your feelings for my daughter?"
Agent Ross's face turned redder, his eyes darting between Edward and Regina. "I... I think we're getting off track here. The priority is Moselia's safety and uncovering the secrets she's hiding."
Regina leaned forward, her voice cold. "See that it stays that way, Agent Ross. We won't have you compromising this mission with your... feelings."
Moselia's exhaustion finally caught up with her, and she collapsed onto her bed, her mind still racing with thoughts of Zayn, her parents, and Agent Ross. Despite her desire to contact Zayn, she knew she had to wait, had to be careful.
As she drifted off to sleep, her hand instinctively went to the burner phone hidden under her pillow, a sense of comfort and security washing over her.
In her dreams, she saw Zayn's smile, his eyes, and his gentle touch. She saw a future where they were together, free from the secrets and lies that surrounded her.
But when she woke up, the harsh reality hit her like a ton of bricks. She was trapped, caught in a web of deceit and manipulation. And she knew she had to keep fighting, keep scheming, to escape and be with the one she loved.
Moselia's eyes snapped open, determination burning within her. She would wait for the perfect moment to strike, to contact Zayn, and to take back control of her life.
She looked around, the time read 1am,
She sighed, feeling thirsty, getting down from the bed
She slipped into her slippers and went downstairs for a drink.
But on reaching down, she saw agent Ross again.
"What is he still doing here?" She thought.
No one else was downstairs, their eyes met and she decided to ignore him, walking to the fridge.
She could feel his eyes on her, watching her and following her every move.
When she couldn't take it anymore, she said.
"Why are you staring at me? Seen something you like or what?"
She was wearing a thin strap spaghetti nightwear that was white in colour and rode low on her bottom, with a cotton jacket.
Agent Ross's eyes snapped back to hers, a hint of surprise flashing across his face. "Moselia, I was just... making sure you're safe," he said, his voice low and even.
Moselia raised an eyebrow, her hand on the fridge door. "At 1 am? Alone? When everyone else is asleep?"
Agent Ross shifted uncomfortably, his eyes darting around the room. "I couldn't sleep. I was just... patrolling the house."
Moselia snorted, opening the fridge door. "Patrolling? With your eyes fixed on me?"
The air was thick with tension as they locked gazes, the only sound the hum of the fridge. Moselia could feel the weight of his stare, but she refused to back down.
Finally, Agent Ross looked away, clearing his throat. "I'll leave you to your drink, Moselia."
But Moselia wasn't having it. "No, stay. I want to know what you're really doing here." She stepped closer, her eyes narrowing. "What's going on, Agent Ross?"
"What's going on, agent Ross" she stressed his name to show her domineering attitude.
The paths were close, and she could even see his eye colour which were a shade of caramel.
Agent Ross's eyes locked onto hers, his caramel colored irises sparkling with a hint of amusement and a dash of annoyance. He seemed to be enjoying the cat and mouse game they were playing.
"Nothing, Moselia," he said, his deep voice low and smooth. "Just making sure you're safe, like I said."
Moselia raised an eyebrow, her gaze never wavering. "Don't lie to me, Agent Ross," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I can see right through you."
The air was charged with tension as they stood there, their faces inches apart. Moselia could feel the heat emanating from his body, and for a moment, she forgot about the danger and the secrets. All she saw was the man in front of her, his eyes burning with intensity and familiarity, like they've met before.
Agent Ross's gaze dropped to her lips, and for a fleeting moment, Moselia thought she saw a glimmer of attraction. But then, his mask slipped back into place, and he stepped back, his expression neutral once more.
"I'm not lying, Moselia," he said, his voice firm. "I'm just doing my job."
She giggled and he stared at her lips once more.
Moselia's giggle seemed to catch Agent Ross off guard, and his eyes fluttered back to her lips, his gaze lingering there for a moment too long. She could see the faintest glimmer of attraction in his eyes, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them crackling like electricity.
Then, Agent Ross seemed to shake himself out of it, his expression snapping back to its usual stoic mask. "I'll leave you to your drink, Moselia," he said, his voice a little gruff, and turned to walk away.
But Moselia couldn't let him off that easily. "Agent Ross?" she called out, her voice teasing.
He turned back, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Yes?"
Moselia smiled sweetly. "Try to get some sleep. You look like you could use it."
Agent Ross's eyes flashed with something - annoyance, attraction, or maybe a mix of both - before he turned and disappeared into the shadows, leaving Moselia feeling triumphant and a little breathless.
The next day
As she sat in the dining, her parents and agent Ross who was still around, were both having breakfast.
She had dressed for school, wearing a baby pink wrap skirt and light green cropped top a pair of ear stripe and pink wedge.
She could feel agent Ross eyes on her like before, piercing and boring.
Moselia felt a shiver run down her spine as she sensed Agent Ross's gaze on her. She tried to ignore him, focusing on her breakfast and the conversation with her parents. But she could feel his eyes lingering on her, taking in her outfit, her hair, her every move.
She knew she looked good, and she had deliberately dressed to impress. The baby pink skirt and light green top made her look sweet and innocent, but the ear stripes and pink wedges added a touch of edginess. She had wanted to show Agent Ross that she wasn't just a naive schoolgirl, but a young woman with style and confidence.
As she glanced up, she caught Agent Ross's eye, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Moselia felt a jolt of electricity run through her body, and she quickly looked away, trying to brush off the feeling.
But she could sense Agent Ross's gaze still on her, boring into her skin, making her feel like he could see right through her. She wondered what he was thinking, what he wanted from her. And she couldn't shake off the feeling that he was waiting for something, watching her for something to happen.
Wait till Zayn catches you.
"Mom, dad you guys are going out?" They stared at each other when they noticed I was listening.
Why wouldn't I? They were discussing a party between those powerful people and If I wanted to invade them from the inside, I had to know what I was up against.
"Oh you know, you could totally come, it's a party, so I see no reason, this are the people that will protect you from that bastard Zayn who's brainwashed you " dad said
I smiled, but deep down I cursed him a thousand times over..
"Will I be finally able to see him?" I thought.
"Agent Ross will pick you up, after school and bring you back before taking you over"
Agent Ross again?.
What?..
I was in disbelief.
Moselia's eyes widened in shock and disgust. "Agent Ross? Again? Why does he have to be the one to pick me up and bring me back?" She tried to keep her tone neutral, but her parents exchanged a knowing glance, sensing her unease.
"Because, sweetie, he's been assigned to be your protection, detail," her mother said, her voice dripping with sweetness. "He's the best in the business, and we trust him to keep you safe."
Moselia's mind raced with thoughts of rebellion. She couldn't stand the idea of being babysat by Agent Ross again, especially after the way he'd been looking at her. And what about Zayn? She needed to see him, to talk to him, to plan their next move.
"I don't want Agent Ross to pick me up," Moselia said, trying to sound firm but polite. "Can't someone else do it?"
Her father's expression turned stern. "No, Moselia. Agent Ross is the best option. And besides, you need to get used to him being around. He's going to be your shadow for a while."
Moselia's heart sank, feeling trapped and suffocated by the arrangement. She knew she had to play along, but she was determined to find a way to outsmart Agent Ross and get to Zayn.
She looked at him and coincidentally he was too
Their eyes met, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Moselia felt a shiver run down her spine as Agent Ross's gaze held hers, his eyes piercing and intense. She could sense a mixture of emotions in his eyes - curiosity, suspicion, and something else, something she couldn't quite define.
Moselia's heart raced as she held his gaze, refusing to back down. She felt like she was daring him to come closer, to try and uncover her secrets. But Agent Ross just raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable, and looked away, breaking the spell.
The room seemed to breathe a collective sigh of relief, and the conversation continued, but Moselia's mind was still locked on Agent Ross. She knew she had to be careful around him.
She stood up, cleaning her mouth.
"I'm going to school now"
"Okay, sweetie, have a good day," her mother said, smiling. "And don't forget, Agent Ross will be picking you up after school."
Moselia nodded, trying to hide her annoyance. "I remember."
Her father stood up, his expression serious. "Moselia, be careful today. And don't try anything... foolish."
Moselia rolled her eyes, grabbing her backpack. "I'll be fine, Dad. Bye."
As she walked out the door, she could feel Agent Ross's eyes on her, watching her every move. She shivered, despite the warmth of the day, and quickened her pace, eager to escape his gaze.
But she knew she couldn't escape him forever. He would be waiting for her after school, watching her, following her. And Moselia couldn't help but wonder what he would do if he discovered her secrets.
Back in his(Zayn) house
He had just returned from work, and was assessing Files.
He couldn't contact Mosi because of her phone.
Something in his gut feeling told him something was definitely wrong somewhere, especially after that phone call.
He resisted the impulse of jumping on the next flight to go to her immediately.
Also it might expose whatever she has planned.
I was close, so close to figuring out the secrets of the orders.
When the door bell rang, I looked up and immediately went to open it.
The shock on my face was evident when I saw her. I can't believe she's back.
Accompanied by some other guy and five burly looking men
Zayn's eyes widened in shock as he opened the door to find Sophia, his long time ago girlfriend, standing on his porch, accompanied by a man. His mind raced as he tried to process what he was seeing.
"Sophia?" he asked, his voice laced with disbelief. "What are you doing here?"
Sophia smiled, her eyes glinting with a mixture of emotions. "Zayn, it's been a long time. I see you're still as handsome as ever."
Zayn's eyes narrowed, his instincts on high alert. "What do you want, Sophia? And who are these men?"
Sophia gestured to the man standing beside her. "This is Agent Victor my associate. And these men are here for your protection, Zayn."
Zayn's eyes flashed with anger. "I don't need protection. Especially not from you."
Sophia's smile faltered for a moment before she regained her composure. "Oh, but you do, Zayn. You see, I have information about Moselia. Information that could put her in grave danger."
Zayn's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Moselia's name. "What do you know about Moselia?" he demanded, his voice low and menacing.
What did she mean about information about Moselia??
"Tell me what information you have"
He demanded
Sophia's smile returned, and she stepped closer to Zayn, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "I know about her parents, Zayn. I know about the Order and their plans for her. And I know about her little secret, the one she's been hiding from everyone."
Zayn's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities. "What secret?" he growled, his hand on the doorframe, as if ready to pounce.
Sophia's chuckled, a cold, mirthless sound. "Oh, Zayn. You really don't know, do you? Moselia's been playing a dangerous game, and she's in over her head. But I can help her, Zayn. I can help her, and I can help you."
Victor, the man beside her, spoke up, his voice firm. "We have evidence, Zayn. Evidence of the Order's plans, and Moselia's involvement. We're willing to share it with you, but you have to be willing to work with us."
Zayn's eyes flashed with anger, but he knew he had to play along. He needed to know what they knew, and he needed to protect Moselia at all costs. "Fine," he spat. "Come in."
After they got in, she looked around, I felt repulsed by the very woman I once loved.
She had changed, a lot.
"Now, tell me everything and I'd know whether to believe you or not, and you better don't hide anything from me, I'll know if you're lying"
I threatened.
Sophia's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered, her eyes glinting with a calculating intensity. "Very well, Zayn. I'll tell you everything. But first, let me show you this."
She nodded to Victor, who pulled out a small laptop and began typing away. The screen flickered to life, showing a video of Moselia's parents, discussing their plans for her in hushed tones.
"This was recorded last week," Sophia said, her voice dripping with malice. "They're planning to use her as a pawn in their game of power, Zayn. They're going to marry her off to some wealthy and influential man, and use her as a tool to further their own interests."
Zayn's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in anger. "Go on," he growled.
Sophia leaned forward, her eyes glinting with excitement. "And then there's Moselia's little secret. She's been working with someone on the inside, trying to take down the Order from within. But she's in over her head, Zayn. She's playing with fire, and she's going to get burned."
Zayn's eyes flashed with anger, but he knew he had to keep his cool. He needed to know more. "Who is she working with?" he demanded.
He needed to know who she was working with.
It was dangerous, those people were calculative, and he didn't want anything happening to his future bride.
Sophia's smile grew wider, as if she knew she had Zayn right where she wanted him. "Ah, yes. Moselia's little game. Well, there's Agent Ross, of course. He's been watching her, protecting her, and unknowingly helping her in her mission."
Zayn's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities. Agent Ross was a wild card, he didn't know where his loyalties lay.
"And then there's the others," Sophia continued. "A group of pawns, her parents unfortunately, unknowingly helping Moselia in her plan to take down the Order. She's the mastermind, working alone, using others to further her own agenda."
Zayn's grip on the armrest tightened, his knuckles white with tension. He didn't like this one bit. Moselia was playing with fire, and he needed to get her out of it before it was too late.
"So, Moselia's the leader," Zayn stated, his voice low and menacing. "She's using everyone, including Agent Ross, to get what she wants."
Sophia leaned back in her chair, a triumphant look on her face. "Yes, that's right. Moselia's the one calling the shots. And she'll stop at nothing to achieve her goal."
He looked at her.
"So why are you telling me this Sophia, what do you want? You think I'll welcome you back the way it was before?"
I stated coldly , giving her a hard glare, the air around me chilling
Sophia's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered, her eyes glinting with a calculating intensity. "Oh, Zayn, I'm not naive enough to think you'll welcome me back with open arms. But I do hope you'll listen to what I have to say."
She leaned forward, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "You see, I have information that can help you. Information that can help you protect Moselia from herself."
Zayn's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities. What could Sophia possibly know that could help him?
"I'm listening," he growled, his voice low and menacing.
Sophia smiled again, her eyes glinting with triumph. "Good. Because, Zayn, Moselia's plan is more dangerous than you think. And if you don't stop her, she'll end up destroying everything you both hold dear."
Sophia's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with determination. "Ah, Zayn, you always were one for getting straight to the point. Very well, I'll tell you. Moselia's plan is to take down the entire Order, once and for all."
Zayn's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the implications. Taking down the Order would be a dangerous and ambitious move, but it would also be a huge blow to the corrupt organization above that had haunted him for so long.
"Why are you telling me this, Sophia?" Zayn asked, his voice low and cautious. "What's in it for you?"
Sophia's expression turned cold, her eyes flashing with anger. "Because, Zayn, I have a score to settle with the Order. They destroyed my life, and I want to see them burn. And I know Moselia's plan can work, but she needs your help to make it happen."
Zayn's eyes locked onto Sophia's, searching for any sign of deception. But all he saw was a fierce determination, a burning desire for revenge against the Order.
"So far, she's pretty good in decieving them, this has never happened before "
Zayn's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the memory of Sophia's betrayal. "You expect me to trust you after what you did?" he spat, his voice venomous. "You think a simple apology and a convenient revelation will make me forget?"
Sophia's expression turned contrite, but her eyes flashed with a hint of defiance. "I don't expect forgiveness, Zayn. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it right. And this information is genuine. Moselia's parents are hosting a party, a grand affair, and they'll be introducing her to the man they've chosen for her. But Moselia's playing a dangerous game, pretending to go along with their plans while secretly working to take them down."
Zayn's gaze intensified, his mind racing with the implications. "Go on," he growled.
Sophia leaned forward, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "This party is the perfect opportunity for Moselia to gather intel, to get close to the Order's inner circle. But it's also a risk, Zayn. If she's caught, she'll be punished severely. That's where you come in. You need to be there, to watch her back, to make sure she gets out alive."
"what's in it for you? Tell me, you want me to take you back?"
Sophia's expression faltered for a moment, and a hint of vulnerability flashed in her eyes. "No, Zayn. I don't expect you to take me back. I know I've lost that right. But...I want to make amends. I want to help you, and Moselia, because it's the right thing to do. And maybe, just maybe, it'll help me find some redemption."
She paused, her eyes locked on Zayn's, searching for any sign of understanding. "I know I've hurt you, Zayn. I know I've broken your trust. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to help you now. No hidden agendas, no ulterior motives. Just the truth."
Her voice dropped to a whisper, her words barely audible. "I still care about you, Zayn. And I want to see you happy, even if it's not with me."
"Then I'll hold you to that word"
Sophia's eyes flashed with a mix of emotions, but she nodded solemnly. "I expect you to, Zayn. I'll do everything in my power to help you and Moselia take down the Order. And I'll do it without expecting anything in return."
She paused, her gaze intense. "But I do ask one thing: don't let your feelings for me cloud your judgment. I'm not the same person I was before, and I don't expect to be trusted easily. Just use the information I provide, and let's take down the Order together."
Zayn's expression remained skeptical, but he nodded curtly. "Fine. I'll use the information. But if you're playing me again, Sophia...there will be consequences."
