Tap... tap... tap...
Continuous tapping filled the silent room.
What is that sound?
Byung-Ho sat in the corner of the dark room. The only lighting in the eery room was a small ceiling light that hung down to the middle of a large table. Surrounding the table, there were several people of different origins. They were all focused on the man standing at the very front of the room. The Chief.
"I have gathered many of the highest ranking spies of this association."
The man's voice echoed throughout the silent room. His voice was low and stoic. His cold eyes glanced at everyone present, making sure that everyone was paying attention.
"Rapid1 has ranked up to become one of the most prominent spy associations in Korea. Because of this, our higher ups have trusted us to an important mission." The man began to wander around the room slowly. His eyes made his way to Byung-Ho, who was nearly about to fall asleep from his fatigue.
Why was I called in today? I just finished a mission... I'm sleepy....
There are many other exceptional spies in this room, so why am I needed? I just want to get some sleep...
The man quietly stood in front of Byung-Ho with an expression full of unsatisfaction. "Phony."
Byung-Ho jolted up in shock from the sudden appearance of the Chief standing dead in front of him.
"Ah.. yes?" He glanced up into the man's eyes with a sheepish smile.
Crap.
The man peered around the room with his hands behind his back. His posture was perfect. Everything about the man screamed that you didn't want to mess with him.
"Everyone in this room is paying attention to me.. except for you." The man leaned down to Byung-Ho's eye level.
"Care to explain yourself?"
Byung-Ho immediately stood up. His sheepish smile continued to plasture across his face. "Sorry, I was tasked with a long mission, and I just got back today!"
He yelled loudly to convey his message throughout the whole room.
Crap.. I'm done for.
The Chief stood in front of Byung-Ho, unimpressed. The sound of teeth gritting against each other could be heard from the menacing man. "Everyone here has it just as rough as you. Don't think that you get to slack off just because of your fatigue. Sit back down."
Hah? Is this man serious? I haven't gotten any proper sleep in months! Mission.. after mission.. after mission! My whole life revolves around missions!
"Yes.. sir."
Byung-Ho's eyes slightly drooped as he sat back down. If he had the opportunity, he wouldn't have hesitated to talk back. But the Chief's authority is absolute. And if the Chief's authority was messed with, Byung-Ho would surely end up with no where else to go.
The sounds of whispering and snickering filled the room. The other spies were watching the situation with amusement. The Chief turned back and made his way to the front of the room.
"A ring was stolen." The Chief continued with the details of the mission. The room was silent for a moment.
A ring? Seriously? This man can't be serious right now. Important mission my a**.
"Judging by your expressions, this mission doesn't peak your interests?"
The Chief slammed a file of paperwork on the table. "It's not just any ring. The ring that I mentioned is of great importance to the Korean government."
The Chief pointed at a quiet man at the end of the table. The man had jet-black hair. His eyes were as cold as ice.
"Triple. You're going to be the vanguard of this mission."
Triple, the code name of the top spy in Rapid1. So that's Triple... he looks scary. Better to not get involved with him.
"The main mission is to retrieve the ring from the famous politician, Fredrick Albashour."
The Chief grabbed the file of papers and spread the papers around the table.
"Somehow, the ring was stolen from the government and auctioned off for 3.4 billion dollars."
Eh? Did I just hear the right? Over 3 billion? Who in their right mind would-
"Fredrick Albashour bought the ring for his fiancé. From the information we have gathered so far, he has no knowledge of the importance of the ring."
Byung-Ho scooted his chair closer to listen to the Chief's explanation.
"You must be questioning the importance of the ring?"
No, not really.
The Chief turned on the big screen that covered the whole wall in front of the table.
"This ring contains top secret information."
The screen showed the layout of the ring and the technology behind it.
Ugh.. of course. How cliche.
Byung-Ho took his chair out of the corner of the room and made his way to the table. He sat beside a spy he was familiar with. He finally decided to speak up.
"So... this ring, or whatever, is actually just a tiny little tech thing? Why would the government decide to hold important information inside such a tiny thing?"
The Chief let out a sigh and clicked his pen.
"Phony, our job is not to question our missions. We are to do as we are told."
Byung-Ho clicked his tongue as he glanced to the side. He's just saying that because he doesn't know the answer himself.
Tap... tap... tap...
The continuous tapping sound could be heard again. No, seriously. What is that sound?
The Chief swiftly threw his pen at the dark corner of the room. A pained groan could be heard as a dark figure emerged from the darkness.
"Chief... you shouldn't be throwing things like that. You could seriously hurt somone."
A tall man with bright green hair and horrible posture approached the table.
The Chief sighed again and massaged the temples of his forehead.
"Anchovy. Enough with the noises. You're disrupting the meeting."
Anchovy? That's a funny name.
The man with the green hair laughed and climbed onto the table. He casually laid on the table like it was an everyday thing.
This f*cker. What does he think he's doing?
"Chief~ don't be such a party pooper.. I wasn't harming anyone, was I?"
Another guy I shouldn't get involved with... sigh.
The Chief glared at Anchovy. He suddenly rolled up the file of papers and began to wack Anchovy off the table.
"Ack! Ah! Hey!"
The weird man groaned as he fell off the table after trying to escape from the Chief's mystic weapon of destruction (the rolled up file).
"Continuing from where I left off, Fredrick Albashour has attained the ring in order to propose to his fiancé with lavish spending."
The Chief handed everyone at the table their own files.
"Inside of the files are your roles in this mission. Look over the information closely."
The Chief then walked around the table to grab another set of paper, but was met with Anchovy. He was still on the ground after falling off. However, the Chief decided to ignore him. Is he dead?
"Since the mission is so important, we have been told to combine with another association just for this mission alone."
Byung-Ho began to block any noise in the room as he read through his file. Spy number 2? What does that mean...
He continued to read through it. He paused as the information began to make sense.
Wait... this...
SLAM!
Byung-Ho slammed his hands against the table abruptly. Everyone in the room turned their heads to look at Byung-Ho. Some seemed annoyed, while others seemed shocked.
"Chief! What is the meaning of this?"
The Chief walked up to Byung-Ho with his hands behind his back.
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about?"
Is this guy insane? Why... why would he-
Byung-Ho held up his file and pointed at the paper aggressively.
"I get that I'm infiltrating the wedding.. but why is my role..."
He grit his teeth.
"Why do I have to dress up as a female?! There's women here who could take on this role just as well as I could!"
Byung-Ho threw the file back at the Chief.
Is he trying to publicly humiliate me? No way I could look like a girl! Even if I dressed up as one, there's no chance that I could even look remotely close to a female!
Click
The Chief clicked his pen again. A rigid smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as he caught the file.
"Agent Phony... this task his been liberated to you and you only."
But why?!
"You see.. the woman that you are to dress up as... is a woman with similar feature to yours."
Eh?
The Chief placed the file back down on the table. "Rosaline Rashida. She is a woman who was invited to the wedding. Her height.. her eyes.. her skin color.. everything is conviently the same as yours!"
Byung-Ho could only stare as his eyes strained from the confusion. "Hah? Me? Are you serious?"
Everyone at the table watched with amusement. Anything involving Phony was like entertainment to them.
The Chief nodded and pointed at Byung-Ho's file. "Read over the file. Rosaline is to attend the wedding with her husband, Leo Rashida. We have found someone with the same structure as Leo from the association we are said to be working with on this mission." Wait.. that means...
Byung-Ho's face immediately dropped. He could feel his lifespan decreasing from this information. "So.. you're telling me to pretend to be in a relationship with this man?"
The Chief nodded with a smile that didn't seem genuine at all! "Agent Phony, you are to work with Agent Cross to infiltrate the wedding held by Fredrick Albashour. I wish you good luck on your mission."
Agent Cross...? As in THAT agent Cross...? No way in hell!
