The black SUV kept pace with them, its engine purring smoothly. Jake's instincts screamed at him to get away from the vehicle, but he knew they couldn't outrun it.
"What do we do?" Alex asked, her voice laced with fear.
Jake's eyes scanned the road ahead. They were approaching a busy intersection, but he knew they couldn't lose the SUV in the traffic.
"Hold on," Jack said, his hands gripping the wheel tightly.
With a sudden burst of speed, Jack swerved onto a side street, the tires squealing in protest. The SUV followed, its driver expertly navigating the turn.
They weaved through the narrow streets, the SUV hot on their heels. Jake's heart raced as he realized they were heading into a dead-end alley.
"We're trapped," Sarah said, her voice barely above a whisper.
But Jack was undeterred. He floored it, the car surging forward. They hurtled towards the end of the alley, the SUV closing in.
Just as all hope seemed lost, Jack swerved to the left, dodging a dumpster by mere inches. The SUV wasn't so lucky, its side mirror scraping against the metal bin.
They emerged from the alley, gasping with relief. But Jake knew they couldn't shake the SUV that easily.
"We need to get rid of them for good," Jake said, his mind racing.
Alex nodded. "I think I know how."
