Micheal..
Emma tightly squeezed her palms, the bad memories flooding in. Five years, that's how long it's been, five years of tumultuous marriage and all that ended with her husband killing her. Now there he was smiling at her like a cheshire cat.
Emma stepped forward and immediately slapped him hard across the face then kneed him In the groin before sending a punch straight to the chin. Micheal immediately collapsed after receiving Emma's sudden attack combo.
"Bastard." Emma muttered softly before banging her door in his face. She leaned against the door and took deep breaths as the adrenalin rush came down, she could feel the pain in her hand.
"Am I back?" Emma asked herself and pinched her skin hard. "Ouch! Definitely real."
She suddenly searched for her cell, and seeing that it still read 12th August 2021, which suggested that she was five years in the past, about a year before her wedding and five months before her engagement.
But she couldn't trust the date, which could be manipulated. She went online to her personal trading platform and looked at the market.
"Yes everything thing can be fabricated but the market? Even the universe doesn't have that power." Emma said to herself.
She sat down and tried to remember the important events that occurred during these six years and how she was going to move forward.
"First of all at least I'm not ill, not yet, and that can be prevented. Second, I need to call Olivia and most importantly I have to stop talking to myself." Emma muttered before dialling Olivia's number.
"Hello girl, where are you at? Link me."
Olivia's voice could be heard over Emma's cell.
"Heading out, we need to talk." Emma slowly responded.
"Of course! You hardly ever have time for me ever since Micheal came into the picture." She pouted her lips with huff.
Olivia Lee has been Emma's closest friend for as long as she can remember. If there was ever one regret that ate at her as she lost her life was that she never got the chance to mend her relationship with Olivia.
They had a major role over Micheal during her second year of marriage. If there was one thing she was sure she would do was to never let anyone come between their friendship, because right now she might just be the only one she could trust.
Emma went back to the bedroom to clean up, she stood before the mirror and looked at herself a little stunned by how pretty she now looked. When she had that illness.. in her previous life, she resembled more of a bag of bones than a human being.
Emma stood at 5'6, with long dark hair and brown eyes that seemed to want to worm their way into anyone's soul like Olivia always said. Emma picked out a maroon pantsuit with matching heels, she applied the finishing touches before stepping out. She opened the front door to find Micheal still slumped on the floor, leisurely stepped over him, and out to her car.
Soon she arrived at NEXT, a prestigious bar where she was supposed to meet Olivia. Just before she entered the bar she heard the roar of a motorcycle, Emma paused with a small smiled as the motorcycle came into view. The driver stepped off and handed the keys to the valet. "Not a scratch on my baby. If she gets hurt, you get hurt, got that?" Came the rider's voice. She took off her helmet and tossed it to the valet and walked towards Emma with confidence in her stride.
Olivia Lee stood at roughly the same height as Emma, her features a sure indicator of her Asian heritage. Her limpid eyes made her stand out more with her dark hair.
"Well, what do we have here? Looking good baby girl." Olivia said with a giggle as she checked out Emma. Emma smiled. "Let's head in, I need a drink." She said as she pulled Olivia to the club. Both Emma and Olivia found a table and ordered a drink.
"Ok, spill, as much as I like having a drink in the middle of the day, something is wrong for you to offer." Olivia started. "I'm ending things with Micheal." Emma said and leisurely took a sip of her drink.
"What? But you are smitten by him and last we spoke you said he was the one." Olivia exclaimed in shock. "What can I say, I've finally seen the light, I've opened my arms and mind to the truth." Emma mocked.
"WOW, just wow, if someone else said that you were breaking off Micheal, I would bet my life against it. But you?" Olivia exclaimed.
Emma laughed softly, as Olivia ordered six shots of vodka. Olivia distributed them equally then picked one up.
"To freedom!" she shouted over the music.
"And to better decisions." Emma muttered lowly and they both downed their shots.
Emma's phone suddenly began to ring, the caller ID showed it to be Micheal.
'He's awake already?' She muttered but nonetheless ignored the call as she took another shot. She spent an eventful evening just drinking and talking with Olivia before heading back to her apartment.
She did notice though that Micheal's body was missing, must have picked himself up and left. Just as Emma was about to settle down, her doorbell rang. Moaning in frustration she went to the door and made sure to check who it was on the intercom before opening it.
At the porch was Viviana Taylor in all her glory, dressed in an impeccable black evening gown that hugged her figure."Oh you're dressed well, won't want to miss the dinner party now, would we? Now come along your sister is waiting down for you." Viviana said as she pushed Emma along.
Then it hit Emma, today was the dinner party, Micheal was meant to pick her up and they would both attend. Emma realized that she was tipsy and squeezy. She just hoped that she could make it through the night with no issues.
"Dear, Where's Micheal? Wasn't he supposed to join us?" Viviana questioned.
"Couldn't make it, mumbled something about work." Came Emma's Nonchalant reply.
She was vaguely aware that Micheal and Viviana had a sort of arrangement tonight, but she just couldn't figure out what her mother hoped to gain from it. But she stilled her expression giving her a cold vibe. She was going to throw away the trash and keep her enemies close.
A limo was waiting for both women which they promptly entered. Emma ignored her elder sister Lilah who had dyed her hair brown and had deep-set eyes the color of obsidian.
In silence they stayed, to please their mother for she couldn't go to any social event without her outstanding daughters. The limo pulled up to a red carpet and the three women walked out.
Lilah gave a soft smile as her pictures were taken, Emma was expressionless as she stopped once in a while, but their mother from the moment she stepped on the red carpet smiled and waved at no one in particular, taking everything in like a duck to water.
Just before they left the red carpet the attention was off them as lights flashed on the individual on the carpet. One look and all three women were frozen for three different reasons.
On the carpet stood Roosevelt Carmac, the man of the century. Some call him the richest man in the country. He stood at 6'4 with dark hair and a well built torso which complimented the three peice suite he had on perfectly.
For a moment, his eyes suddenly settled on Emma who wasn't far away and a curious
smirk appeared by the corner of his lips seeing that neither did she shyly look away nor did her face turn red like the other girls.
"Interesting.."
