"What the hell was that!?" I yelled while anxious over Matthew's shoulder as he ran out of the building. We had luckily lost sight of the silver wolf that kept staring at me till I was out of there.
"I don't know why you're asking me. I told you not to go anywhere with that bozo; now he's dead, and you were about to be too," Matthew yelled out of breath, ignoring all the attention we were getting as we exited the club, "Come on, Wendy!" Matthew called on Wendy who was already cuddled up on someone's lap.
She rolled her eyes irritatedly, "My Lord!" She exclaimed, "What's the problem now?" She angrily stomped towards us as she left the guy with a small kiss and a prominent bulge.
"We need to leave, now," Matthew yelled.
"What, why? You can't just carry us dramatically out of the party like this?" She complained, turning to me, who was now settled on Matthew's shoulder, still trying to wrap my head around what had just happened, "What happened, Ahvi?" She asked, probably referring to how pale my face was.
Just as I was about to open my mouth, a scream sounded through the club, diverting everyone's attention to the staircase where the same silver wolf was. His eyes seemed to be a lot more green now, shining just like mine but brighter. It was calm but kept its gaze fixed on me. I felt this weird bond with this creature I was laying eyes on, like needles dancing around my heart with a glance.
Matthew turned a dull pale as he heard the scream, grabbing Wendy's shocked body and darting out of the club, "What the fuck is that?" Wendy yelled, her face also frighteningly pale as she got in the car reluctantly.
"Get in the bloody car, Wendy, and let's go!" Matthew yelled as she stayed at the door.
"No way! I'm not letting that monster pulverize my car!" Wendy yelled back, trying to be louder than the screams of terror.
"If you don't get in the car this instant I'll make sure you get pulverized instead! Now get in the fucking car!" Matthew yelled even louder now, his voice giving me a severe headache.
Finally, Wendy shut the car door just as the crowd rushed out of the club at a higher magnitude. I figured the wolf must've done its thing and left a souvenir dead body in there.
We went further and further away from the club, and the car was dead silent; just the sound of everyone still trying to catch their breaths in relief was audible throughout the ride. The only thing that occupied my mind wasn't the fact that I nearly just got raped and killed but how that would looked, what I heard it say, why he was looking at me like that in the first place.
It all didn't sit right with me, and for some reason, I couldn't ignore it either. As the atmosphere remained sombre in the cold car, Wendy still seemed as flabbergasted as Matthew was, but none of them knew about what the wolf had said.
"I think we lost him," Matthew sighed in relief, "All we need to do now is to get back to the coven mansion and act like this night never happened. If Mom asks, I took both of you out impromptu, understood?"
We nodded in agreement, my lips were pressed together in a thin line as my head filled with unreasonable thoughts right before my eyes glanced towards the rearview mirror.
I panicked as I watched the silver wolf running towards our car. I was suddenly unable to speak, unable to move as I trembled, staring in terror as the wolf rushed towards us.
Matthew must've taken notice of my demeanour, and he was suddenly confused, staring at me with a confused look on his face, "What happened, Ahvi?" He had a worried look on his face.
"Just drive, faster," I stuttered, my eyes glued to the rearview as that must've given him a hint.
"Shit!" he exclaimed, his face suddenly flushed with fear as he picked up the pace. Wendy turned back, screaming when she saw the wolf tight at our tail, "Shut the fuck up!" Matthew yelled, shutting her up with her mouth on her lips but her tears and frightened whimpers remained.
"Shit!" Matthew repeated worriedly as he reached the highest possible speed, Wendy and I holding on to our seatbelts for dear life yet we couldn't outrun him, "just a little more, and we'll be concealed by the coven mansion," he yelled.
I wasn't as scared as I thought I would be, I was scared, as anyone would be in such a situation, but it was like a string was wrapped around my heart to the far back, drawing me closer to this creature, giving some kind of strange assurance that it wouldn't hurt me.
After Matthew changed the spell, we finally passed through the mansion gates, where we knew it was invisible to everyone else, especially wolves.
"That was quite the adrenaline rush, huh?" Wendy cosplayed excitedness.
"Shut up," Matthew muttered dryly, still trying to catch his breath in such a sullen position, "Not a bloody word about this to my Mom, okay?" He warned and we nodded in acceptance.
We still took a bit of time before finally choosing to enter the house with our faces probably still pale but our composure and breath-work were on check for now.
As we stepped foot into the large lounging room, Kira's face lit up with fury and worry, stopping towards us fiercely, "And where in the bloody hell have you three been?" She said harshly.
"Mom, I'm so sorry, I took Wendy and Ahvi to the club to celebrate her 21st actually. We're just back early because Wendy was feeling sick," Matthew lied through his teeth in the calmest manner.
She didn't look the least bit convinced, a slight furrow appearing on her forehead and her lips pressed together as she analyzed each of us carefully with a stern face. I wasn't hoping I wasn't going to be the one to break, considering the neutral face I attempted to keep wasn't that convincing.
She stood there for a bit just looking at our faces till she finally decided to speak, "Then why are you all pale and why is a large wolf outside the gates with blood all over its fur!?" She yelled suddenly.
I felt my heart drop with fear, staring dumbfoundedly at her, and I knew we all felt the same way, "Well? Answer me!" She yelled.
"It was a random attack at the club, it just happened to follow us back home after massacring the rest at the party," I explained, my voice still rather shaky.
"So that explains your torn-up dress?" She pointed out that I had almost completely forgotten about that even.
"We are very sorry we snuck out to the club, Mom," Matthew said somberly.
"Yes, we are very sorry," Wendy and I repeated simultaneously.
"I mean, it's not like I can stop you from going to the club; you probably do that all the time at school, but just be careful. Tonight, for one, wasn't even a good night for you to leave for the club after what had happened," Kira explained.
"Have you finally found out what happened to them?" Matthew asked worriedly.
She shook her head disappointedly, her eyes down to her toes as a worried look displayed on her face, "Some had gone blind, partially, but we're still doing what we can. It has never happened like this; I don't know what went wrong," she somberly muttered.
A heavy sense of dread filled me, a great inconvenience as well as I stared bashfully at the ground, "It's my fault," I muttered.
"It's most definitely not, we just need to find out why there was a large surge of power coming from you and why it left such a large price to pay," she explained pitifully.
I managed to give her a half smile as I got back into my room in the mansion, still bothered by what had occurred just within the first few hours of my 21st. I tried as much as I could to brush it off but even the mere guilt of the blind elders seemed to haunt me.
I felt a raging force in my heart like something was tugging on it or some strange entity was surrounding me, making me uneasy. It felt nothing like what I felt when I saw the wolf, it was more of a queasy feeling, just like when I performed powerful spells but much worse.
So many things began to bother me only when the clock struck 12 of this blessed but dreadful day. I paced around the room, slowly packing my bags to head back to school but my head remained clouded by thoughts till the same thinking made me crash right out on my bed, insisting on us staying in the mansion for the night because something told me that wolf would still very much be waiting.
Whatever bargain it had with me, it must've been serious because just as I looked out the large window, it was sitting still in its wolf form right outside the gate with its eyes high at my window as it transformed back to its human form.
Bright grey hair, emerald eyes I could see all the way from up here, he was of a large build, gorgeous man indeed he was but stacked naked with his back turned to me suddenly, still looking over his shoulder at me.
Someone came over to hand him a blanket stealthily. I could see how badly they were shaking while placing the blanket over their shoulder, only for them to glance around, and I saw my Aunt Kira with him.
