Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Founding a Tribe

Starting a tribe—its development hinges on individual ability.

Wang Yan's "simulated business game" had finally welcomed its first batch of closed-beta players.

These players came from various backgrounds: teaching, geology, road and bridge engineering, physics, economics, computer science, and more.

They would use their extensive real-life experience to spot bugs in the game and pave the way for its eventual full release!

All of their in-game characters, experience, levels, equipment, and skills would be retained. This was a closed beta with no data wipe!

The barbecue party in the Caesar Tribe was a resounding success. The elites from the rehabilitation hospital enjoyed not only the delicious barbecued meats from another world but also its authentic, primitive-style dance performances.

Everyone had a blast!

And it wasn't just the group from the rehab hospital; the aboriginal people of the Caesar Tribe also reveled in the festivities.

Clearly, with so many "gods" descending upon their land, everyone in the Caesar Tribe radiated a mysterious, almost divine aura.

This signified the importance the God of Light placed on their tribe and foretold a future of prosperity.

The gods had arrived!

After drinking for the first time, the slightly tipsy Chief Caesar and the tribe's shaman, Zhugou, even discussed carving the day's events into a mural—so future generations would remember and stand in awe!

Although the God of Light had given them paper and pens, those materials were fragile, susceptible to wear and tear. A mural carving would endure far longer.

Their only regret was that none of these "gods" seemed inclined to leave behind any offspring in the Caesar Tribe. Otherwise, this celebration of the gods' arrival would have been perfect!

Once they'd visited the Caesar Tribe, the rehab hospital folks got fresh inspiration and requested more supplies from Wang Yan—things they hadn't thought of before.

The new supply lists included a large number of books, covering everything from basic knowledge to advanced professional fields.

They also requested an array of mechanical equipment: small-scale smelting rigs for Zhang Dongping, surveying instruments for the road and bridge engineers, physics lab apparatus for Luo Mingde…

It was a dazzling assortment, some of which Wang Yan had never even heard of.

The huge volume of goods from before had been purchased by Li Zhan. He had essentially emptied a large supermarket of mostly daily necessities and luxury items for comfort, very different from the supplies these experts were asking for.

It just goes to show that the worldview of a "nobody" differs radically from that of true elites!

Everyone earnestly urged Wang Yan to gather the materials and personnel they needed as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the former patients from the rehabilitation hospital were placed on the Order Continent—as per Xie Yufei's request—dispersed among various primitive tribes.

The Order Continent lay east of the Bright Continent, covering about half its land area, with a favorable climate and diverse terrain.

Its population was racially mixed, including those with white, yellow, black, brown, and blue skin tones. It was a continent with a balanced demographic.

Located nearly at the same latitude as the Bright Continent, it was separated by tens of thousands of miles of ocean. Without the development of ships or planes, these tribes might never set foot in the Bright Continent again.

Of course, per Xie Yufei's planning, the Arthur Tribe, where Li Zhan resided, was on the Dark Continent, while Liu Wanjun's White Tribe was on the Chaos Continent—both in another hemisphere entirely.

Among the five continents, only the Natural Continent remained untouched, still in its primordial state, without interference from Wang Yan.

Recalling Li Zhan and Liu Wanjun, Wang Yan couldn't help thinking about the tribes they had been sent to.

By his estimation, Li Zhan had been in the Arthur Tribe for over ten days, while the mercenary Liu Wanjun had been in his own assigned tribe for around seven or eight days!

And both of them had been playing on "hard mode."

Li Zhan had neither the immortal body nor psychic resonance, and the old man Liu Wanjun had arrived wearing only a hospital gown, without a single resource.

Compared to the myriad supplies these new arrivals demanded, Wang Yan started feeling a bit guilty for them. He didn't want to discriminate just because they liked to party and indulge.

Perhaps he should provide some form of support, leveling the playing field so they could start on roughly equal footing with the others.

Wang Yan decided to head to the Arthur Tribe first.

After more than ten days of hard work, Li Zhan had managed to set up both a generator and solar panels. Though the wiring was messy, it all functioned normally.

At the moment, Li Zhan and the entire tribe were crowded in a cave, watching a movie on an 80-inch color TV.

Heaped before them were all kinds of snacks and drinks.

Li Zhan and the tribe's chieftain were seated on a plush mat in the middle, each with a dark-skinned beauty from the tribe in his arms, feasting on meat and sipping liquor, fully absorbed in their carefree revels.

From time to time, Li Zhan slid his hands under the women's grass skirts or buried his face against them…

Judging by his blissful expression, he hadn't reformed in the least since his last mishap; if anything, he had sunk deeper into decadence.

They were watching The Lord of the Rings, with its original English audio playing through loudspeakers that echoed across the cave walls.

Of course, the tribe members didn't understand a word, but the film's dramatic audiovisual effects still mesmerized them.

They stared wide-eyed at the screen, occasionally shouting excitedly as they waved their stone spears and axes.

Now and then, they even repeated English phrases they picked up, like, "Yes!" or "OK!" in their own accented voices.

What the—?

Wang Yan nearly blacked out at the sight, almost losing consciousness on the spot.

He'd known Li Zhan was unreliable, but never imagined this level of unreliability!

Is this what being a tribal patriarch means to you?!

Wang Yan had told Li Zhan to help these primitive people develop, not to indulge them like this!

Moreover, if you're going to show them a movie, why not a Chinese-dubbed version?

What's the point of playing it in English, just to look more "high-class"?

The Arthur Tribe was even more spoiled than the Caesar Tribe—completely wasted, in Wang Yan's eyes.

"Li Zhan! Get over here!" Wang Yan barked, face dark with anger.

"Boss?!" Startled, Li Zhan spat out the mouthful of liquor he'd been drinking. He turned to see Wang Yan at the cave entrance and went pale as a sheet. Pushing away the two tribal women flanking him, he rushed over. "Boss, my dear father, you have no idea what I've been through! Life's been so rough for me!"

Li Zhan wailed as if wronged, snot and tears running down his face.

"'Rough,' huh?" Wang Yan's lip curled into a sneer. He kicked Li Zhan aside and pointed at the scene in the cave. "There are women, there's food, and there's drink. Looks to me like your days are going very well!"
