Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: The Caesar Tribe Is Mine

Primitive society's resources are still resources, and Wang Yan saw no problem in using them.

Of course, a big reason for this was the old man Liu, who—dressed in nothing but a nightgown—had violently conquered a portion of the world. That was completely beyond Wang Yan's expectations. He wanted to see just how far the old man could go.

What Wang Yan hadn't anticipated was that the first person to trigger a change in the World Tree would be Old Man Liu. Wang Yan had initially believed that the old man's main role would be to plant crops.

Yet, after witnessing the havoc Old Man Liu could cause, Wang Yan had to agree with Xie Yufei: he really couldn't allow too many people from Earth onto this planet.

He didn't know if conflicting civilizations might end up crushing each other, but he was certain that the more Earthlings came here, the more uncontrollable everything would get.

Wang Yan didn't have the ability to monitor the entire planet every minute of the day.

It had taken him only one night to spirit a group of people away from Earth. Already, Li Zhan had turned the Arthur Tribe into a film-and-entertainment paradise, and Liu Wanjun had molded his tribe into a gang of thugs.

If, as Feng Chunlai and the others had suggested, Wang Yan truly flung open the gate to this world—allowing in construction teams, geology teams, and others to develop it openly—his planet would almost certainly descend into chaos.

After all, even the old man who lived downstairs from him had spent his youth in the mercenary world. Who knew how many similarly formidable people were hiding among the masses?

Even if Wang Yan tried to watch over the planet every single day, it would be impossible! The territory was vast, the population huge—he couldn't be everywhere at once.

Moreover, it was unthinkable for him to remain here indefinitely without ever returning to Earth.

Therefore, for now, a targeted, refined approach to civilization-building was better than going broad.

Of course, there was a potential solution: forming a leadership team, assigning each person a specific region to oversee—just like running a country, complete with a range of functional roles to manage different aspects of society.

One could look to Earth's mythologies for examples: the Eastern Heavenly Court, the Greek pantheon led by Zeus, the Norse gods under Odin… in each, multiple "main gods" each had their own duties.

However, forming such a leadership structure would be a massive undertaking. Wang Yan lacked the ability, and trustworthy people, to pull it off right now. It would have to remain a long-term goal.

He had created this planet, but as an inexperienced "god," he couldn't afford to take overly large steps.

On the Dark Continent, it was noon when Wang Yan left. By the time he returned to the Caesar Tribe, the sun had already set—it was evening there.

Add to that the 1:30 time ratio relative to Earth, and Wang Yan's sense of time was in disarray. He hardly knew what day or hour it was anymore.

Wang Yan urgently needed an astronomy expert to establish proper calendars and time zones, so he could at least make sense of his days.

Despite the late hour, the Caesar Tribe remained brightly lit.

Power stored by the solar panels was enough to keep the tribe's lights on all evening.

The newly cleared space around the tribe's square looked much more open. Areas not reached by electric light had been illuminated by bonfires instead—the locals loved fire just as they loved the God of Light.

In the square, the wine bottles and cans left over from the barbecue party had been neatly stacked in one corner. They had been cleaned and repurposed as water containers—nothing was wasted.

At the moment, the men of the Caesar Tribe were still hard at work. Their unwavering faith seemed to grant them endless energy; they moved like perpetual motion machines, oblivious to fatigue.

In the recently cleared land, two wooden watchtowers had already been erected.

More young men were working along the perimeter, setting up a pointed wooden fence. Half of it was finished already, and at first glance, the place now had the vibe of a future "fortified village."

Xie Yufei was passionate about construction, and the tribe's people happily cooperated with her.

She very cleverly invoked the name of the Moon Goddess:

When there was no Light God to bring fire or electric lamps at night, they had always relied on the moon's light. Therefore, the Moon Goddess, too, was a manifestation of the Light God.

By framing it that way, the logic was simple enough for the tribe to follow.

As a psychology Ph.D., Xie Yufei knew exactly how to handle the thought processes of these primitive people.

Naturally, the Caesar Tribe's primitive stone tools couldn't handle the fine work of felling trees.

All construction had begun only after Xie Yufei brought back several saws and axes—sharp, durable tools forged from steel.

The tribe's men took to them with enthusiasm, sawing down large trees and shaping poles with the axes. They adored these new tools.

While the men labored, the women gathered in the square to learn from Xie Yufei how to use soap, shampoo, and other everyday items.

As a demonstration, they used Jia Junpeng as a model.

Her face was scrubbed clean with soap, and her once brittle, yellowish hair had become much smoother. Combined with her wide, feral eyes, she was starting to show signs of budding beauty.

Gazing into a mirror, Jia Junpeng tentatively touched her cheeks and took in the scent of her washed hair, brimming with excitement.

Then she noticed Wang Yan's sudden appearance and blushed, lowering her head and avoiding his eyes. One might have thought she was shy in front of her deity.

"Hah, this little thing cleans up nicely and now she's turning bashful," Xie Yufei teased Wang Yan. Clapping her hands, she addressed the tribe's women. "All right, you all know the washing steps now. Here's the soap and shampoo—line up to clean yourselves! Everyone needs to maintain personal hygiene to reduce disease!"

"Xie Yufei, you're about to take over my Caesar Tribe completely," Wang Yan joked when she walked over.

"You own the entire planet; why be so possessive about this little tribe?" she retorted, rolling her eyes. In a softer voice, she added, "Seriously, you may as well leave the Caesar Tribe to me."

"Okay," Wang Yan said, nodding.

"Wait, really?" Her eyes lit up.

"Sure. Be my woman, and not just the Caesar Tribe—all of this planet can be yours," Wang Yan said with a laugh.

"Ugh, you're being childish!" She shot him another exasperated look. "Wang Yan, there's a whole world here waiting to be developed, yet you, the planet's lord, are more interested in flirting. I don't like men who lack ambition."

"…"

Her blunt rejection left Wang Yan at a loss for words.

From her pocket, Xie Yufei produced a stack of white paper filled with writing. She handed it to Wang Yan. "These are the supplies I need. Bring them from Earth as soon as possible."

Scanning the neatly written lists, Wang Yan saw that they included everything from tools and daily necessities to books. Lots of books.

But Xie Yufei went further than the others—she didn't even specify titles, merely demanding that Wang Yan clear out every industrial- and agricultural-related book in the bookstores and bring them back in bulk.

A vein throbbed on Wang Yan's forehead. He still had 23 similar lists to fulfill from other people as well…

Damn. I'm a planetary ruler, not a personal shopper!

It was obvious he'd need to set up a dedicated procurement company on Earth, or else he'd spend all his time shopping.

As he looked over the lists, Xie Yufei spoke in a tone that brooked no argument: "You can remain the God of Light, but let me handle the Caesar Tribe's development. No interference from you. If you want to try out some grand plans, pick another tribe to play with."
