I kept still till the sun began dipping lower on the horizon, casting a deep orange hue across the plains. The shadows lengthened, wrapping the landscape in a quiet stillness that felt almost sacred. I remained crouched low in the tall grass, the earth cool beneath me, and watched and studied the herd of cape buffalo as they moved in unison, grazing in a pattern that only those with a trained eye could discern. Their hooves churned the earth, creating a soft, rhythmic thud that resonated through the ground, and I could feel it in my bones.
