"Apologies for keeping you waiting, but the village head will see you now," a voice called out. Daniel walked from the room he was sitting in to the room where the chief was.
"I'm here to deliver a letter," Daniel presented, not wanting to waste time talking.
"Hmm," the village head hummed in a deep voice as he read the letter. "It seems I'll have to trouble you with keeping you longer," the village head said, handing Daniel the letter.
"I see," Daniel responded after reading the letter. It appeared that it wasn't just the neighboring village brewing a conflict but a merchant group that bet everything on acquiring this land by hiring Iwa mercenaries and paying the neighboring village to cause conflict, trying to claim part of this village. But the letter, which stated legally the boundaries of both villages, would change that.
"Are you trying to make a low-rank ninja protect your entire village?" Daniel raised a brow. "I've already completed my mission. The officials will arrive tomorrow. I'm not staying here," he added, standing up and leaving, not even creating room for negotiations.
The village head was grieved since he knew their village would definitely be attacked tonight, as it was the last chance the opposition would ever have. "We should hide the children and elders. Whoever can fight should prepare," the village head ordered as he got up in haste to try and protect his village as best they could.
Leaving the village, you could see the villagers showing disdain towards Daniel. But what did they expect? He was a genin and traveling alone at that. There was nothing he could do. Outside the village, Daniel shunshined, tree-hopping back to Konoha.
"Captain, it seems the kid left," an Iwa mercenary reported. "It seems he was a genin sent to deliver the document," he continued.
"Good. Although it wouldn't have made a difference if he stayed," the captain laughed. "But I still find it strange. How did he manage to get here and why aren't..." The mercenary spoke.
"Silence," the captain cut through. "I'll deal with those three when they arrive. We've landed a big fish, and I'm keen on reeling it in," the captain said, dismissing the mercenary. His biggest mistake, as outside their base, a looming shadow lay hidden, waiting to strike.
Dawn arrived as the yellow sun struck the horizon. Hidden in the trees near the basement of the mercenaries, Daniel waited for this very moment to strike. Although he couldn't accept the mission from the village head, he knew this was an opportunity he couldn't let slide. His sense of justice didn't waver as he held strong his resolve.
"I bet I'll get a lot of loot if I ransack their base," Daniel grinned as he thought, disappointing the author with his upfront selfishness. "It's time." As swift as a shadow, Daniel made his move.
Daniel stood at the edge of the mercenaries' camp, a smirk playing on his lips. With a swift motion, he destroyed the camp gate, making a grand entrance. The Iwa mercenaries scrambled to their feet, weapons drawn, their faces a mix of shock and anger as the attacked.
"Is this the best you can do?" Daniel taunted, effortlessly dodging their attacks. "I've seen academy students with better skills."
Enraged, the mercenaries attacked more vicious ly, but Daniel toyed with them nontheless, his movements a blur to the mercenaries. "Come on, is this really all you've got?" he laughed, sidestepping a particularly clumsy strike.
One by one, the mercenaries fell, unable to land a single hit. Daniel's mocking comments only fueled their anger, but they were powerless against him. "You call yourselves ninjas? Pathetic," he sneered, dispatching another opponent with ease.
A particularly bold mercenary lunged at Daniel with a kunai, but Daniel caught his wrist mid-air, twisting it until the mercenary dropped the weapon with a cry of pain. "Really? A kunai? How original," Daniel said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Another mercenary tried to attack from behind, but Daniel spun around, delivering a swift kick that sent the attacker crashing into a tree.
The remaining mercenaries hesitated, fear evident in their eyes. "What's with this genin" they said, panting from exhaustion. Daniel grinned. "I thought you were supposed to be professionals."
Finally, the captain stepped forward, as the last one remaining. "I'll show you what a real ninja can do," he growled, launching into a series of taijutsu attacks. His movements were fast and precise, but Daniel dodged everything with ease, barely breaking a sweat.
"Is that it? I'm getting bored," Daniel said in a cold voice, his eyes narrowing. "I expected more from the leader of this sorry bunch."
The captain's face twisted in rage as he intensified his attacks, but Daniel continued to evade effortlessly. "You know, for a captain, you're pretty slow," Daniel remarked, sidestepping a particularly powerful punch. "Maybe you should consider a different line of work."
Suddenly, Daniel stopped moving, his energy concealing mask appearing on his head, Daniel's deathening gaze intensified and a green energy erupted from his body. With a thud the captain fell to the ground filled with fear. "Let's end this shall we" Daniel said, his voice cold and domineering, he pointed a finger at the captain shooting a red beam from his finger, the fight had ended. He absorbed the captain and his memories, gaining the details on his employer. "So, that's who's behind this," he muttered, turning to leave.
[A/N- I remember one of those Power Rangers monsters going Laser beam! When writing this can't stop laughing]
Back at the village, the villagers were anxious about being attacked stayed up the entire night, waiting for the inevitable assault. They had fortified their homes and gathered in the village square, ready to defend themselves. But as morning came, they were completely confused and then rejoiced over not being massacred that night. They had no idea that Daniel had single-handedly taken care of the threat.
As the sun rose, the village head emerged from his home, looking around in disbelief. "What happened? Why weren't we attacked?" he wondered aloud.
The villagers, equally puzzled, began to relax, their fear slowly dissipating. A mystery that would never be solved.
Meanwhile, Daniel was already on his way back to Konoha, his mind focused on the information he had obtained. "A merchant group, huh? This could be interesting," he thought, a plan forming in his mind after liberating the valuables from that mercenary group, he planned to talk with that merchant group behind this event.
As he leaped from tree to tree, Daniel couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. He had not only completed his mission but also protected an entire village from a potential massacre. "Not bad for a day's work," he mused, a small smile playing on his lips.
Back in the village, the villagers continued to celebrate their unexpected safety, completely unaware of the young ninja who had saved them. For Daniel, it was just another day in the life of a shinobi, but for the villagers, it was a miracle.
