Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: You're pretty violent

Violet's POV

A tall, striking man welcomed me as he fixed the button on his right sleeve. His eyes did not even bother to look at me when I walked in but I could see the sharp pair of gray eyes he had even with my sunglasses on.

"Thank you Elaine."

The blonde lady bowed shortly and walked out but before she closed the doors, she looked at me one last time with an unexplainable expression. I couldn't tell if she was sad, angry, happy, or anything. The doors closed with a shutting sound.

"Thank you for paying me a little visit Ms. Amaryllis. The thought of visiting and seeing you has already crossed my mind multiple times already, but I couldn't really find the right time so I am very grateful for you stepping out of your way just to see me."

My thoughts snapped into pieces, my focus revolving around the man in front of me again. And within a few seconds, I now completely forgot about the blonde lady who just walked out of the room. The man walked closer towards me with a small smile on his face.

"It was nothing. It is me who needs to thank you for agreeing to my impudent and rash request, so thank you very much for sparing a few minutes for me, young master Entrinia."

I humbly thanked him in response to his gratitude.

Of course he needs to thank me for seeing him! A 'thank you' from him isn't even enough! He needs to get on his knees and kiss my shoes clean! He needs to buy me an entire castle filled with the most expensive novels and books! Rebuild the pyramids of Egypt, make a giant sculpture of me, give me my very own hanging gardens of Babylon, buy me a continent, end world starvation! And he needs to stop a war for me too!

"I have heard that the young lady Amaryllis does not like going outside and actually prefers to read inside the house so I thought that you, personally initiating a meet up with me is extraordinary… Is it not?"

He tilted his head to the side with an innocently curious expression. If I didn't know what this man does for a living, I would instantly fall into the thought that this guy is as innocent as a child. He looks adorable right now! This guy knows how to use his face well! He bent his body to level his line of sight with my face. I guess he doesn't know the circumference of my personal space… He's starting to get on my nerves already.

"Ah…I really don't think it is… I prefer to stay indoors but I'm still aware of my responsibilities outside my room… Getting to know you is a part of my responsibilities now… Is it not?"

I took a step back while replying with a nervous smile. I can feel that my smile could drop to the ground any second now.

"... I suppose so."

He placed his hands in his pockets and stood straight again. His gaze averted mine and looked at the wall instead. What? Is he saying that the wall is more interesting to look at compared to me?

"Then… Getting to know you better is a part of my responsibility now too… Is it not?"

He said with a small wink.

This b*tch.

He walked toward the small table near the window that overlooked the city. The tall buildings and skyscrapers that were mixed with lush green trees were breathtaking. The warm, sunny weather just added to the comforting ambiance of the view. It was magnificent… Or maybe this is just the first time in a while that I was forced out of my room.

"Why don't we take a seat first before continuing our little conversation hmm?"

He motioned towards the pair of seats that accompanied the table. My feet moved forward, one after the other until I stood near the table.

He gently pulled the chair back and welcomed me to sit, and I did so. He proceeded to sit across the table with his legs crossed. He then leaned on the back of the chair, shifting his body and weight until he finally found a comfortable position to sit with.

"Please make yourself comfortable, young lady Amaryllis."

I only nodded in response as I leaned back on the chair too. I crossed my arms and legs as I glued my own sight to the man in front of me.

Even with the dark lenses covering my eyes, I could still see his sharply defined jawline, his perfect looking nose, his sparkling eyes looking over the city view.

And now that I'm observing him, his arms- his entire muscle system is well built. He doesn't look too brawny or too thin. Seriously, how did his parents even make him? He looks like the perfect example of a good looking man. No wonder that blonde lady was in love with him.

"Ah… Since we already made acquaintances with each other, I wanted to ask a small favor from you. Is that okay?"

We just met and you're already asking me for a favor? Are you insane? How many braincells do you have? You actually think I'll grant you a favor?

"... What is it?"

I never saw a living creature I just met ask me a favor in the most straightforward manner to exist.

"Since we're together now… It should be okay to stop addressing each other with formalities. Shouldn't we be calling each other using our first names now?"

Ah. It was just about that. Like hell I'll let you call me by my first name.

"I don't think we should for now…"

I replied with a stoic expression.

"... Why not-"

"I'm not comfortable with you yet…"

"Ah… I see…"

A sad smile formed on his face. What kind of expression is he trying to make? A dying rat?

"Right. I wanted to talk to you about someth-"

I was about to bring up the reason why I was here when a loud knock coming from the pitch black colored doors rang the entire room.

"Pardon me for interrupting Sir, but I have brought your meal."

A voice could be heard from the other side of the door and with a click, both of the doors opened, revealing a boy who looked like he was still twelve years old. He then continued to push the cart that was filled with food towards our table.

"Sorry for not informing you in advance, but I prepared a simple lunch for the both of us."

I suddenly remembered Elaine, the blonde lady who guided me here, and the lie about me eating lunch together with the young master Entrinia. My lies really did come to life.

"You would not mind eating lunch together with me right, young lady Amaryllis?"

"I wouldn't mind."

I smiled as the pleasant smell of the food reached my nostrils. Why would I mind eating free food? As long as it's free, I would never mind.

The servant suddenly halted his footsteps and looked back and forth at the food placed on top of the silver cart and onto Entrinia's face.

"... Is there something wrong?"

Entrinia asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Ah… actually sir, there's two more carts coming. I don't think all the food you requested will fit in this tiny table hehe."

The boy scratched his cheek with an awkward smile.

"Haaa."

Entrinia heaved a long sigh before standing up.

"Bring us another table then…"

"Yes sir!"

The boy hurriedly left the room with the corners of his lips curving up into a bright smile. The food cart was left behind unattended and silence fell on the room once more.

"I'm very sorry about this impudent inconvenience. I should hav-"

"It's really fine."

My voice cut off his statement midway. It's not a big deal if the table is too small or whatever the table is supposed to be. I can even eat right from the food cart if it's necessary.

"You were about to talk about something before the knock interrupted you. What were you about to say again?"

His attention turned to me again. His respectful and kind attitude is actually starting to get to me.

What was I supposed to say again?

"Yes… I wanted to talk about our engagement."

I stood up from my seat with my hands in my pockets. I can't let this terrible facade of his fool me. My strong resolve in leaving my room and spending horrendous hours in traveling the vast roads just to meet this man will not dissolve that easily.

"Oh… Do you have some sort of concern about it?"

His annoyance from the inconvenience earlier disappeared and was replaced with concern instead.

"Yes. There is."

"What is it? Did I do something wrong?"

He replied hurriedly. He did something wrong? Yes he did. He definitely did.

"Yes… You're the one who proposed to my parents about this engagement, am I right?"

"...Haaa…"

He pushed his hair back with a sigh and with his body somewhat thrown back, he rolled his eyes.

"So?"

The way he stated it sounded a bit… rude. It was incredibly different compared to his cute little innocent puppy acting that he used to greet me as soon as my foot stepped into this office. I knew he was just faking a face but I didn't expect his real personality to be this horrible!

"So cancel our engagement."

I couldn't care less anymore if he's annoyed at me, it's actually even better that way.

"Why would I?"

His smirk reached the corners of both his ears but this smile of his is far from being happy or mischievous. It's a smile of a f*cking devil.

"Because I don't want to marry you."

"I don't want to marry you either."

Well damn.

That response was more annoying than I expected. What on earth is wrong with this man? He petitioned an engagement offer to my family but now he's saying he doesn't even want to marry me?!

"So why did you even propose an engagement?!"

I pushed back the strands of my hair that were falling to my face. I unknowingly started to clutch on the roots of my hair tighter from anger.

"Who knows…"

"Ha!"

I knew he was a b*tch!

"Break off our engagement."

I calmed myself down. Letting him get to my nerves will not end well for either of us.

"Don't want to."

"Break-"

"You'll become a valuable asset to my company once we get married so just stay put and let me become your husband."

He took one step forward and another until he was only a step away from me. His hands were still in his pockets as he bent down leisurely once more to level his sight with mine.

His gray eyes became very much visible through my sunglasses again. My eyes scanned every corner of his face. From his neck to his jawline, from his cheeks to his lips, from his forehead to his alluring eyes.

"I can feel your gaze, just so you know…"

His smirk only became wider.

"I know."

I replied with a smirk forming on my own face too.

"You like what you see, Amaryllis?"

I like what I see? No, I don't like it. Not yet.

Without hesitation, my right palm landed on his face harshly and with my fingers digging into the skin of his face, he landed on the floor with me slamming his head into the floor.

"You're pretty violent."

Even with the impact he received from the floor and my palm, it was still not enough to wipe that smile off his face?

Why are you smiling like that? and why is it getting on my nerves?

My sunglasses fell off and landed on the floor behind him and the strands of my black hair were falling on his face. My palm was still holding him down the floor, making sure he won't be able to move an inch.

"So you want to be on top of me? Why didn't you just say so?"
