Maya's world went dark as a cloth was clamped over her mouth and nose. She struggled against the strong arms holding her, but it was no use. Everything faded to black.
When she came to, Maya found herself in a cold, damp cellar. A single flickering light bulb cast eerie shadows on the walls. She tried to move, but her wrists and ankles were bound to a rusty chair.
A figure emerged from the shadows - Victor, a rival businessman with a grudge against Chase Blackwood. "You're bait, Maya," he sneered. "And soon, Chase will come crawling to save you."
Just as Victor's words sent a chill down her spine, a loud crash echoed through the cellar. The door burst open, and Chase Blackwood strode in, his eyes blazing with fury.
"Let her go, Victor," Chase growled, his deep voice commanding attention.
Maya's heart raced as Chase fought off Victor's henchmen, his movements swift and deadly. When the dust settled, Chase turned to her, his eyes softening. "Are you okay?" he asked, gently freeing her from her bonds.
Maya nodded, still shaken. "Y-yes, thank you."
Chase's gaze lingered on hers, and for a moment, Maya felt a spark of connection. But then, his mask slipped back into place, and he became the enigmatic billionaire once more.
"Let's get out of here," he said, offering his arm.
Maya took it, her heart pounding in her chest. What had she just gotten herself into?
