Chapter 10 - Ch 10 - Rank Up Trial/Preparations

A large tree giving off a mystical vibe. Its roots covered the ground leaving barely any room for grass.

On a tall branch of said tree...

A boy was hanging his once vibrant green eyes had dullen. His face expressionless. His white hair stood out amongst the vibrant green of the tree.

'It's been 3 days and 2 nights since I began the trial. It's a trial based on the story of Odin hanging himself for 9 days and 9 nights.'

I inwardly sigh as I tilt my head up making my body droop down further against the rope.

Looking around at the vast landscape. All around were stars, the galaxy. This was one of the few things that kept me sane.

The hard fibers brushed against the skin of my neck. I couldn't even speak with the rope tightly tied around my neck.

I'd been alone with my thoughts. In this trial Odin couldn't talk to me nor give me support.

'The next part of the story is about the celebration. I might even get invited. Originally, Eric was the only commoner there, but that might change.'

In the main story our MC Eric is invited to a celebration for nobles, that were celebrating the next generation of students.

They do it every year after the Ranking Examinations.

'Class should start in 3 days once I get back. I wonder what I'll get. Hopefully, I'm in S class. Ah, I wonder what type of electives I'll get. I didn't sign up for anything.'

My thoughts were the second thing keeping me sane in this world. At the beginning the pain was unbearable.

I couldn't even scream or yell...

but after three days the pain had gone numb.

*********

"You can put that there and this goes other there."

I said while pointing to a nearby table.

I looked over at my older brother, he was laying lazily on the railing of the stairs.

"Can you get your lazy bum up!"

"Yeah, yeah"

He opened his eyes revealing his gem-like green and blue eyes.

"Why do we have to host it this year? Can't the Meloin's host it again?"

"They decided it at the last meeting! Maybe if you stopped sending ambassadors and actually attended, we wouldn't have this issue!"

"Yawn~"

"You damn bastard, what are you tired for!"

Getting tired of this lazy bastard. I manifested a small fireball in my right hand.

The workers paid no mind to the sibling banter. They had witnessed these "fights" hundreds of times.

"Calm down, he had to help me with something last night."

A black-haired youth said flatly while slowly descending from the stairs.

His piercing green eyes locked onto the two siblings.

"Fine! I guess I can let him go this one time. Hmph!"

I said while quickly turning my head away from my brother.

"You're my savior, Loki."

He stood there silently his gaze never leaving the white-haired man.

After a moment of silence,

"It's the least I can do."

"Aw~ don't act all reserved. We're basically all one big family. Isn't that right, Maria?"

"Yeah, yeah whatever."

I waved off my brother's usual antics turning my attention back to the preparations.

"Hey, Loki~"

My brother gaze locked on to the black-haired youth.

"Hmm?"

"How was it? Meeting your aunt?"

"I no longer have any connection to that family."

He replied flatly his face not even showing a hint of emotion.

"Anyhow, can you go pick up some booze for me?"

"I'm too young."

"You can use transmutation magic. I'll let you borrow my ID, it's a foolproof plan."

"Alright."

He replied while reaching his hand out for the ID.

"You're not going anywhere. Brother, don't make Loki go on your errands."

"What, he has no complaints with it."

Loki's emotionless gaze shifted through both siblings as they talked.

"I'm fine with it."

He replied flatly.

"See!"

"Ugh, you're so difficult."

I replied as I put my hand on my forehead massaging my temples.

"Yo!"

I turned to the familiar voice...

A handsome blonde waved over at us.

"Adrian! What are you doing here."

"Ah, I invited him."

"Adri~ It's been so long~."

The expressionless black-haired youth was gone. He put on a smile and ran up to the incoming youth hugging his side tightly.

"No matter what I'll never get use to that..."

I muttered looking wide-eyed at the change in the youth's expression.

"He doesn't really understand human emotions. Just give him a break."

I looked over at my brother his gem-like eyes were focused on the black-haired youth.

"I wonder where he gets that personality from? Brother..."

"What, I didn't do anything."

He quickly defended himself raising his arms up into the air.

I looked back towards the duo...

Loki was riding on top of Adrian's back laughing as he wobbled side to side.

A soft smile bloomed onto my face.

That was the only reaction I could give to the antics of this youth
