I glanced at the knife, then quickly looked away in order not to alert anybody, wolves were after all very sensitive creatures, they could tell when someone was feeling uneasy exactly how a predator could tell when their prey was feeling restless and scared.
I calmed my beating heart, and decided to relax a bit. I was really sure the stranger had long noticed my unease but he probably thought it was the fact that I was being dragged by him after he had so casually claimed me as his price or whatnot.
I came to a halt after a while of indecisive thinking on how best to get out of his hold.
He turned to look at me, a playful smirk graced his gorgeous face, but I knew better than to fall for it. His smile seemed benevolent but for some reason I couldn't help but shudder.
" What? Wanna take a pee break? Are you scared of me?." He asked with a wry smile.
I felt the urge to grab him by the collar sadly he wasn't putting on a shirt for some unknown reasons, was he trying to advertise his abs or what? Nevertheless I calmed myself, I couldn't let my emotions screw me up here.
" I want to get some of my things before we leave, and I also have to visit my brother." I calmly explained, sighing even, to add more dramatic effects.
He looked at me with a somber expression, his gaze was full of distrust.
" There's no need to get your things, I'll give you anything you need when we get there, just name it."
I met his look with a gaze of my own, my annoyance was clearly written on my face as I retorted.
"You don't seem to get it huh? No thanks but I don't need anything from you or your pack, if what I wanted to get was not important do you think I would have asked?"
" You're trying to run away."
"I am not running!!!"
" I don't believe you!"
"That's on you dude, you think I need your fucking trust?!!"
" Hah... Fine, go get your things, someone will accompany you" he said with a tired sigh.
"Uh no thanks, I don't want any of your pack members nasty faces on my brother's grave." I replied with a scowl.
"Non-negotiable you're getting accompanied by one of us."
I huffed in annoyance
"Who do you think you are? My mother? You don't order me around."
He scoffed.
" Do you think my pack members are willing to give you a single second of their time? You're a wild one and it won't be a surprise if you try to run off."
I raised a single finger of mine in an unpleasant gesture.
" Fuck you all, I don't need them to look after me, and I don't want a single second of their time, infact I'd be more than happy if y'all vanish from my life, go to hell for all I care. And do you think I'm foolish enough to try to run from you guys, I'm a half-breed for heavens sake, I'd be damned if I try to start a race with any of you."
My comment seemed to surprise the strange werewolf as he repeated my words with a questioning tone.
" Half-breed?"
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes, everyone always seemed surprised whenever they found out I was not a pure blooded wolf. Like I mean come on, I know it's strange but the disgusted looks that comes after was totally unfair.
I steeled myself waiting for the usual disgusted expression, I was all but used to it but seeing something like that on the face of my mate was gonna hurt me more than I expected.
However the look never came, instead he seemed amused, intrigued even as he looked at me with interest studying every inch of my body like a kid who'd just gotten a new toy.
I suddenly felt very unsafe as I couldn't help but ask.
" W..What is it? Why are you looking at me like that?."
He smiled.
" Oh, nothing.. you're an interesting creature, you know?"
'Oh... That's the last straw, fucking bastard, does he even see me as a person? Well it doesn't matter anymore.'
I turned away, walking with hurried steps, to my surprise he didn't stop me neither was any of his pack members following me.
It wasn't long till i reached the location of the hunting knife, I was sure he was still watching but I didn't care, I bent down on one kneel and picked up the knife.
Looking at a small writing engraved on it, it read.. Marie viole, it was the blade my mother had earned from her parents when she had completed her first hunt.
I couldn't help but feel wistful, maybe things might have been different if she had married a wolf instead.
With a weary sigh I rose to my feet and made my way to my house. It wasn't actually a spacious place.. ok that was me trying to sugarcoat the shit hole of a house I lived in, it was small.
Well at least it had a kitchen and a bathroom but all the same me and my brother were still being treated as dogs by the real dogs, ironic right, wolves were dogs were they not?
" Wait, does that make me a half dog?" I mused aloud.
" Nah.. I'm not like those rabid animals, it's not like they ever acknowledged my existence."
Taking a few things I needed, I unceremoniously shoved them into a black bag and went to the back of my house where my brother's grave was.
Just looking at the makeshift tombstone I had made with my own hands I couldn't help but feel guilty, at the fact that I couldn't even kill my brother's killer.
" So unfair..." I muttered, cursing the bastard stranger in my mind.
" Hey, Eugene..." I began.
I had a lot of things to say to him, a lot of things to apologize for, I'm such a worthless sister... He did everything for me and I couldn't do one simple thing for him.
"..where do I begin, a lot of things had happened since you passed away, I was able to escape being a part of Leo's harem due to acting a little bit mad... I did go a little bit mad though.
I couldn't come to terms that you'd really left me all alone, to be honest I still haven't completely accepted it. I was really close to killing Leo or maybe I would have died trying but then a goddamn bastard stole his head..
..And that same bastard wants to take me away cause I'm his mate.. but I'll be damned if I let him. So I'll kill him instead, just wait a little bit ya little brat your big sis is coming."
Just then I felt the temperature in the atmosphere change, for some reason i became cold and I couldn't help but feel that someone was behind me.
As if to confirm my unease a baritone voice sounded behind me and my instincts sharpened from all the hunting activities I'd been forced to undergo to survive kicked in.
"Kill who?." It asked almost as instantly as I spun my blade and aimed for the neck of the owner of the voice.
My aim was perfect, courtesy of being a seasoned hunter but the stranger was faster.
His azure eyes gleamed with a mischievous intent as he stopped my blade with his bare hands.
" Hello pup, say... What was that about killing me?"
