Gio exhaled the last puff of smoke, pressed the cigarette under his shoe, and went inside.
There he found Lisa sitting on the bed, the towel clutched around her. Her hair was dripping wet, water droplets tracing lines on the skin of her body.
She looked up at him, terror and confusion mixed in her ripe gaze. "Feeling better?" Gio asked, softer than she had ever heard.
"A little," Lisa replied, wrapping the towel tightly around her body.
"What just happened out there? Who was that? Why would anyone attack us?" Lisa asked in one breath.
Gio let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through his hair. "It's complicated, Lisa. This world I'm in… it's dangerous. Sometimes things like this happen." Gio Norman mumbled out.
Lisa frowned harder, her eyes searching his eyes for answers.
"But why me? I'm just an employee to your friend. Why would they target me?" Lisa asked, she couldn't get the thoughts out of her head.
