Chapter 16 - Chapter 16.Soul projection and learning to read and write.

In the morning the girls woke up but they were alone in the shelter so they went out to see what their master was doing but the sight just shocked them and rooted them both in place.

Paul was sitting at the same place that they had left him the previous night but behind him was a projection of a man that looked like Paul except that he looked more mature and had long white hair instead of the short and black that Paul had now.

Both girls were speechless as the scene was so magical that they were afraid of interrupting it.

A moment later the projection looked at them and smiled before vanishing into thin air.

Paul slowly opened his eyes and saw the stunned girls,he smiled at them and called them over.

-Master, what was that?

Mia asked as she was curious about this mystical being.

-What you saw right now was a soul projection.

He said, but that didn't mean anything to them.

-This was a soul of my past life and it finally awoke after I used an artifact that was created by that person and just today he could manifest as a projection.

Paul tried to explain but he was also a bit shocked when he had learned that in his past life he was an immortal and the artifact that sent him back in time was created by his former self.

The soul has shared some information with him and also informed him that once he was powerful enough it would allow him to regain the memories of his past life.

-So that's how you looked in your past life?

Maya asked.

-Yes and according to the soul, I lived for hundreds of thousands of years before I was killed in my past life.

This was incomprehensible to the two girls who just started their cultivation paths.

Paul had explained to them that the higher their level the longer they would be able to live and at some point they might even become immortal.

He himself wasn't sure at which stage one became an immortal being that couldn't die of old age and never grew old but he knew that it was possible.

Before he time traveled, the highest cultivation level achieved by someone from earth was around seventieth level of the soul transformation stage which was the fifth stage of cultivation.

The magical cultivators were somewhere around a master mage which was also a fifth stage but it was just one man and he only entered that stage after ten years of almost nonstop cultivation.

-Any way he informed me that right now I'm way too weak to inherit his memories and knowledge.

So for now we all have to focus on our cultivation.

Paul said.

The girls still had a lot of questions but decided to wait to ask them at a more appropriate moment.

What Paul didn't say was that the soul of his past self helped him purify all the mana in his body.

It also had given him some tips about this world and information that could be useful to him.

For now however it was all useless for him since he didn't intend to leave this place until he could walk again and reached a minimum of the second stage of cultivation in both mana and Qi.

Paul also for some reason didn't feel tired at all after so many hours of purifying mana.

So instead of going to sleep he decided to prepare breakfast.

After the meal Mia and Maya volunteered to go check the fish traps to which he agreed and soon they came back with some fish.

The next on the agenda for today was to start teaching the girls how to read and write.

Paul showed them the alphabet as he had cleaned off some leaves from the ground and wrote it down.

Both girls were excited that they would know how to read and write soon.

-Now ladies it's time for you to copy it.

Paul pointed to the alphabet after he was done explaining what the letters were and which sound was assigned to them.

Girls found themselves some sticks to use as pencils and started copying the alphabet on the ground.

It took some time but they managed to accomplish this task, only now realizing that this will be difficult as previously when they saw how Paul had effortlessly written it down, they thought that this would be easy.

Their letters were a bit off but mostly he could read them and he never expected them to do it on their first try.

He told them to copy the alphabet a few more times for practice and warned them that writing on a piece of paper was a whole different story than using earth for training.

Both girls began to work on their task and after a few times they not only could copy it faster but also their letters had the right shapes and were easy to read.

Their next exercise was to write down their own names and after a few moments they also managed to accomplish this, making them incredibly happy.

-That's enough for today.

Paul said when they managed to do everything that he wanted them to learn today.

-Thank you master for teaching us so many things.

Mia said with appreciation for his efforts.

-Don't mention it.

It is a part of our deal and also you need to learn many things to be able to live among humans.

Paul said, with a little blush as this was the first time someone sincerely thanked him for his work and it made him feel a bit shy.

Also in the few days that they were living together he started to care for the girls like they were his little sisters.

-Master, when will you teach us to cultivate mana?

Maya asked suddenly.

The little girl was much more interested in magic than Qi cultivation.

-When I'm sure that you can control your Qi and you won't mix up the pathways as that would be very dangerous for you.

Paul answered honestly.

-For now be patient and cultivate Qi as the higher level you reach in Qi the easier it would be to cultivate mana when you learn how to do it.

After hearing his words,Maya nodded and went with her sister to cultivate as they had nothing better to do for now.

Paul had also another reason to tell the girls to focus on the Qi cultivation for now and that was their diet.

Eating fish and meat for every meal was far from healthy but thanks to the Qi cultivation they could live on this diet for a long time.

Unfortunately sooner or later they would need some plant food to eat as the meat didn't deliver all the nutrients, vitamins and microelements that a human body needs.

For now however he had no idea what plants were edible and which were poisonous so his only option was to bide his time by using cultivation to supplement the lack of plant based food.

It would all change once they left this place and found a town in which he could sell some things and then buy what they needed.
