Night fell, and it was pitch black. This was the first impression this mountain gave Ji Ai'er. There was no beauty to speak of anymore. All there was was the darkness that scared her. The stars in the sky seemed particularly twinkling at the moment. She felt that her entire person was immersed in the darkness, feeling a bit oppressed.
They sat at the entrance of the tent. Jien shone the flashlight around randomly.
"Could it be that you're scared!" Jien laughed mockingly.
"A little scared. Don't you think it's too dark here!" Ji Ai'er turned to Jien and said. Although she couldn't see Jien's expression, at least having someone beside her gave her a lot more courage. "Aren't you scared?"
"Coward. And troublesome!" Jien's tone was still as sharp. He stood up.
"Where are you going?" Ji Ai'er pulled the standing Jien. Thinking that if she were alone in such a dark place and then listened to the whistling wind, she would soon faint from fear.
"To the bathroom. Do you want to come along?" Jien said directly and then added, "This bathroom is really big."
"No!" Ji Ai'er refused. No matter how big this bathroom was, they weren't allowed to use it at the same time.
Then she heard Jien's hearty laughter, getting farther and farther away. Ji Ai'er had no choice but to hold the flashlight and continue to have wild thoughts. And she felt that her hair was about to stand up. This was not at all like coming camping to enjoy but more like an adventure, Ji Ai'er thought. She chose the worst way to spend the few remaining times she had with Jien.
Looking at the stars in the sky, Ji Ai'er thought of Jien's zodiac sign. He was a Capricorn. There was a beautiful love legend:
Pan was the patron saint of livestock, shepherds, and hunters, and also the deity of mountains and forests. His appearance was very peculiar. His hair was disheveled, his face was full of beard, he had horns on his head, and the lower half of his body was covered with goat fur and hooves. Before dawn, Pan wandered in the valley with the elves. During the day, it was his sleeping time, and at night, he would always play his shepherd's flute.
Because of Pan's ugly appearance, his love was often unsuccessful. But his achievements in music were loved by the gods, so he was often invited to banquets to add to the fun. Once when he was invited to participate and play for the gods, he played especially hard, making the wonderful sound of the flute reverberate between heaven and earth. But unexpectedly, this flute sound alarmed the monster Typhon.
Typhon charged into the banquet chaotically, leaving everything in a mess. The gods all fled in panic. Pan, in a hurry, transformed into a fish and jumped into the Nile River. Unexpectedly, due to being too nervous, only the lower half of his body turned into a fish tail, while the upper half still remained the appearance of a goat. This is the origin of the Capricorn myth of a goat's head and a fish's body.
"What are you daydreaming about again!" Jien didn't know when he returned.
"I was thinking about the personality of Capricorn people." Ji Ai'er said.
"Boring!" Jien's comment. In his thinking, the things Ji Ai'er did were either childish or boring. After saying that, he lay down beside Ji Ai'er, with his feet facing inward and his head facing outward. He could easily look at the stars and the moon in the sky.
Jien looked up at the sky and stopped talking.
Ji Ai'er also stopped talking and suddenly felt sad again. Jien was going to the United States in another week. Time flies. The more they wanted to grasp it, the faster it passed!
