__________

Tunnel 3rd P.O.V.

The gunshot didn't go unnoticed by the rest of the group.

Nagumo's face turned serious as he moved Ai and Konomi behind the car.

Joined by Sakamoto, Nagumo opened the trunk to pull out stashed weapons.

*step*

*step*

*step*

Toji walked down the tunnel, holding a freshly fired pistol. "What a pain in the ass."

A blur flashed past Toji and stopped, looking at the scene before her.

...

Uzuki's lifeless body with a headshot wound.

...

*woosh*

Rion spun around with a murderous look and put a knife against Toji's neck, to which he had a small smile.

Due to her reaction, Nagumo and Sakamoto both aimed pistols at Toji.

While they had some trust in Toji due to his assistance in this mission, they went through school with Rion and had just met Toji today.

She spoke. "You better explain what the fuck just happened."

The atmosphere was intense since Toji ended up killing one of their allies.

Toji sighed as he looked slightly annoyed. "He was the rat."

Everyone's eyes widened at once.

He continued. "The kid was working with someone named Sei Asaki to kill the two VIPs. He was on the phone with him."

The three teens kept finding it weird that he referred to them as kids, but that was beside the point.

Nagumo lowered his pistol alongside Sakamoto and muttered out loud. "So the theory was correct."

With that bombshell, Rion backed off but still showed hostility. "Why did you kill him?"

Toji raised an eyebrow. "He sold us out, sent people to kill us, and agreed to kill the wife and child of the chairman of the JAA, our VIPs."

While bad with names and faces, Toji would keep track of the current important people. After this job, he would most likely forget who they were unless they assigned him another mission or actively worked with them.

He continued. "Keeping him alive gives him more opportunity to share information about us, so I did what I had to."

It made sense to everyone, but Rion asked that question for a different purpose.

She couldn't help but think about what she told him before he took the phone call.

'Even if I had to die for her to be safe.'

At that moment, she realized she had encouraged him to do what he did.

She didn't know his exact circumstances, but it was most likely a leading factor in his decisions.

Rion stayed silent as she stared at Uzuki's previous position with an absent look.

While it hadn't been long, he had started opening up, if not only a little.

She shook her head and turned back to the group as she lit a cigarette. "Damnit, this mission sucks."

Rion walked back to the car where Konomi and Ai were already stationed.

*cough*

*BLEH*

Toji threw up the inventory curse and made it crawl over to Uzuki's body, as well as put his Glock away.

The inventory curse would allow his body to be kept intact for the future.

Nagumo hid his disgusted expression. "So, what did he talk about over the phone?"

Toji recounted the events he heard during their conversation. "Sei Asaki, ring any sort of bells?"

Sakamoto spoke. "The executive of the JAA?"

Toji crossed his arms. "He put the kid up to it to kill the two. Given that he seems to be an executive, I assume a conspiracy is happening."

Nagumo narrowed his eyes in thought. "It's not like we can go over and kill him. It would make us an enemy of the JAA."

Toji looked down as the inventory curse curled back up onto his body. "Well, I have his phone and his body. Hopefully, that will be enough."

Sakamoto raised an eyebrow. "Isn't your whole thing money? Why do you care about some conspiracy?"

*gulp*

Toji ate the inventory curse. "Since I've got connections with Velcro. The chairman dies, then my work is affected."

Nagumo sighed. "Alright, let's finish this mission, and then we can meet with Kindaka. I still want to see if we can get readmitted into the JCC."

Sakamoto scratches his hair. "I think we're past that at this point."

Nagumo turned around and started walking back toward the car. "You're probably right. In any case, we should check out this Order thing that Kindaka was trying to pitch."

Toji pondered for a moment and thought to himself. 'Why did shit have to become so complicated?'

Everyone made their way back toward the car.

...

Without the interference of Kobayashi and Higuchi and the removal of Uzuki, the rest of the group made it toward the mission location without any trouble, bringing Ai and Konomi to safety.

After saying their goodbyes, they went to the hospital treating Kindaka.

A tall, muscular middle-aged man with tanned skin, an unshaven beard, sharp eyebrows, and unkempt black hair stood over Kindaka's hospital bed.

Kindaka smiled. "What are you doing here, Satoru Yotsumura?"

He kept an emotionless expression. "I wanted to see the person who put you in that state, Toji Fushiguro."

While in the hospital, Kindaka contacted the Order to talk to them about the students and Toji.

A shit-eating grin appeared on Kindaka's face. "The kid came out of nowhere—no records of JCC attendance, no medical records, no identification, nothing on his existence."

Yotsumura's eyes narrowed. "What do you think about him?"

Kindaka smirked and tilted his glasses to look Yotsumura in the eyes. "He's going to be the strongest assassin in history."

The room went silent as Yotsumura pondered for a few moments.

Then, he thought back to the current strongest.

...

Takamura, the phantom of the JAA.

...

The strongest assassin alive and the ace of the JAA.

If the Order consists of the strongest assassins, Takamura takes much of the overall strength.

Kindaka was well aware of how strong Takamura is.

There was an unasked question that Yotsumura had, but he shook his head and walked out of the room.

He spoke to a tall man waiting at the entrance. "Let's go, Hyo."

The man known as Hyo nodded as he turned to leave.

*whoosh*

However, something was strange; they felt the wind pass by them.

Both of their eyes widened.

It was then that they realized someone was behind them.

The man spoke. "Velcro, so talk to me about this Order business."

...

Yotsumura showed a rare smile.
