Chapter 23
When the energy subsided, the Nightstalker was now revealed coming out of the flame like energy. Arthur was a bit far back observing everything. Then he saw the Nightstalker was standing but he wasn't unscathed. His body looked burnt and blackened. His arms were cut off from trying to push the energy back with his hand after his energy lost to Arthur's energy. His horns were snapped off, and he was bleeding all over. In fact he couldn't even stand properly, he was kinda staggering.
"You think you have won this?" The Nightstalker asked with his voice a little dry. "But let me tell you this, the battle isn't over yet. For now I need to heal up and then we will battle again."
Arthur was confused by what the Nightstalker meant. Was he taking him for a fool that will just let him heal up without doing anything? But then the Nightstalker did something that shocked Arthur but it was too late to do anything because the deed was already done.
Black light covered the Nightstalker completely. The light was so bright that Arthur and the rest of the alliance who came to Arthur's side after they saw that the Nightstalker was too injured to battle, they all had to cover their eyes because of the blinding light. And when the light subsided, the Nightstalker was nowhere to be seen.
Arthur tried to sense if the Nightstalker was still around but he couldn't sense anything. It just felt like he disappeared. Arthur kept turning his head around trying to sense if the Nightstalker was around. Meanwhile the alliance were still surprised and elated by what they saw. They couldn't believe that it was all over.
"Is it all over?" Axel asked shakily
"I think so, because he would have appeared by now if it wasn't." Sophia replied
"I can't believe that it is over so soon, I really thought we were all gonna die if Arthur doesn't manage to defeat the Nightstalker." Fex said visibly happy for being alive.
That's when Arthur stopped sensing around and came over to the alliance.
"Oh man! I still can't believe that you managed to defeat the Nightstalker." Fex said excitedly to Arthur.
"I know you always had it In you bro, I knew you will amount to something great in future." Axel chimed in also.
"Good thing you managed to defeat the Nightstalker you wimp. And good thing you didn't die because I wouldn't have had the pleasure of defeating you myself." Zeph said.
Before Arthur could reply any of them, he felt giddy and he started swaying left and right. But before he could hit the ground, Axel quickly caught him.
"I guess the battle really took a toll on him. You can rest bro, you really tried."
"I Don't know what happened but I was seeing black then finally a light was now coming in to view and I could finally see. I could see I was in a room that was furnished to a normal teenager's taste. I was confused about what happened and how I ended up in my room, wasn't I at the event earlier? Arthur asked himself. Then he started feeling a banging pain on his head and his body was feeling so sore. Then he started recalling all the previous event that occured with the Nightstalker. How he battled him on a wasteland and managed to finally defeat him with something called the Heart of the vampire."
Then Arthur tried to move around but he felt something on his leg. Looking down, Arthur could see someone's head resting on his leg. But his movement managed to wake the person up and he could see it was his childhood friend, Axel.
"Oh man! You're awake. But you shouldn't be moving around like that, you should try to get used to your body because you were out for some time." Axel said looking concerned.
"Am fine dude, so just chillax, I feel quite fine. Arthur replied. So how long was I out for? " Arthur asked.
"Uhmm, you were out for like three weeks or so. " Axel replied.
"Three weeks?!? Are you for real?" Arthur asked." How come I was out for three weeks?"
"Well apparently your body wasn't really used to the Heart Of The Vampires yet and you pushed your body to the limit." Axel answered.
"But I didn't feel anything at first, I should have felt the pain if I was pushing past my limits." Arthur said.
"Well I think it's because of the adrenaline that's why you didn't notice it." Axel replied.
"Anyway enough of the questioning, you need your rest bro. Your body really was strained."
"You do know that I was resting for the past three weeks so I don't need more rest anymore." Arthur replied.
"Well if you say so then hey who am I to argue with you." Axel said while shrugging. "Anyway I need to warn you that you be careful because when you step outside of your castle walls now, you will be immensely shocked by what you see." Axel warned.
"What do you mean by that? Arthur asked. What's going on?" Arthur probed.
"You will see. I don't wanna ruin the surprise." Axel replied smiling.
"Anyway I adviced you to get some rest for what you will see outside but I mainly said you should get some rest because the council were planning to call a meeting when you were awake and you are expected to attend the meeting. Anyway let me go and inform your father that you are awake. He has really being proud of you because of the amazing feat you managed to pull. Am sure he's gonna brag among the leaders in the meeting today." Axel said smiling.
Axel left Arthur's room to go and inform Arthur's father that Arthur was awake.
Meanwhile Arthur decided to take to Axel's advice and decided to rest a bit. After thirty minutes of resting, Arthur decided to go and take a long bath in order to relieve his body a bit.
When he was done with his bath, he decided to open the window of his room to receive a bit of light after all the Vampire world is normally dark but in order to feel normal, they always have something like street lights everywhere.
But when Arthur opened the window, he was so shocked by what he saw that he nearly fell down on his butt seeing it. TBC…
