Su Lie ran past the finish line passing the dark-red haired young man by 2 seconds! A whooping two seconds!
Jiang Mei came after the two of them some 6 seconds later, but all-in-all these people completed it earlier than the boy who had finished. They were done in 14 minutes...
None of them were dripping blood like an open faucet or breaking their bones and ripping their muscles.
The envy in the onlookers eyes were like unlucky gold miners when someone else found gold.
How could these 3 people not only have the highest strength but also the fastest!
Su Lie's grin was a mocking gaze to the other people still running, he was just so pleased in himself, even when the odds were stacked against him and it looked like he would win he still came out on top.
Unfortunately this wasn't an official race so he wouldn't be awarded by the guild but the reward from the system and the angry look from dark-red made everything worthwhile.
Unexpectedly the young man with dark-red hair came up to Su Lie to talk.
"My name is Feng Muyang, remember that." He said before walking away.
Su Lie shook his head at his behavior, did he think he was the main character just because his name and his appearance clearly hinted at his attribute.
'Anyway my rewards.'
As Su Lie thought of that a tab appeared.
[Congratulations for completing your first mission. The result are as follows:
Completed the mission.
Completed the mission while disadvantaged.
Finished in under the fastest time.
Rewards: +1 charisma.
50 points for passing the system's expectations.]
Su Lie smiled.
'So if I perform well beyond the system's expectations the points come in as a bonus.'
With that realization Su Lie realized that the chances that he would be getting many points for each completed mission wasn't very high.
For a rookie to create a mid-grade cultivation manual at his first try was minuscule, and the chance that he would be able to create a good one wasn't very existent.
But still this was something to be happy, he had just gotten +1 to his charisma and the dream of becoming a leader didn't seem that far away now.
He went to meet Jiang Mei, she was the only one of his "friends" and the only person he could talk to, coupled with the fact that he had something he wanted to ask for.
"Jiang Mei, can I come to your house?" Su Lie asked.
The girl that was obviously in her own thoughts opened his eyes once she heard what he said. They had only met yesterday and now he wanted to visit her?
'Even if we are friends I can't let that happen. If father hears of this he might kill him?' Jiang Mei thought as she processed what he had said.
Jiang Mei was actually a noble, but she was from the poorest noble family in the town.
As such she couldn't enjoy the privileges other nobles got, that was the reason she awakened at the same time as all the other commoners.
And no surprise she was friendless and even often bullied because her father was the poorest.
But inviting a commoner would bring the dark, protective, fatherly side of his where he MIGHT beat the boy to a bloody pulp, the chance of killing them.
Even noble children weren't spared as anyone who visited her to mock (if a boy) would get beaten so badly that he would look like a slave rather than someone who was of noble blood.
On one such occasion a 10 year old boy died, this was kept under wraps but the strongest cultivator who was also the most affluent and richest of the nobles got stripped of his position because he killed another noble's son just because he visited his daughter.
He was at the 6th stage at the start of that incident but now he was only at the 6th stage 2nd rank of the mortal stages because he was unable to afford the resources to cultivate.
Yet he still boldly claimed that if he was able to go back in time he would have killed the boy again.
THAT was the definition of an overprotective father.
She sighed as she recalled the experience and said.
"Why do you even want to come over? We just became friends."
"I was looking for some books yesterday but the library doesn't have it so I was wondering if I could get some books." Su Lie admitted.
"Oh, which books do you want. I'll give them to you tomorrow."
"I want books on cultivation manuals, books that cover how they're created, their history and things like that."
'Hmm.' Jiang Mei thought, 'If father sees him he will be a corpse so its better if I give him.'
"If its only that I'll bring the books over to the guild tomorrow. Make sure you come by 6AM sharp or I'll leave it with the receptionist." Jiang Mei said.
"Oh, alright. I just want to ask one more question?" Su Lie said.
"Sure."
"Do you think the scores were actually the same? I mean when we broke the rock, we all got 900 Kg each. Don't you think that there was something wrong with the way the man analyzed it." Su Lie questioned.
"I did." Jiang Mei nodded to the question. "I think the old man didn't really know what he was doing."
Clearly how would three 18 year old's get 900 Kg without one getting higher or lower.
Su Lie nodded to agree with Jiang Mei before changing the topic.
"Do you like cultivator fights?"
"I think they're interesting, but not a fan. There isn't really much worth watching when they're throwing moves at each others."
Su Lie couldn't argue, he knew her argument was valid because the only thing the moves did was create smoke which defeated the whole purpose of allowing people to watch it.
However, Su Lie noticed that the stadium was always jam-packed which meant that the fights were always interesting the interest of the audience to the point where it became over-crowded.
He thought that Jiang Mei had gone to one at least.
"Everyone follow me." The very same green robed man gestured for them to come to the next floor.
He led them to the 4th floor of the building, somehow something so small on the outside was humongous on the inside.
God knows why.
"All of you stay in an orderly line and come one by one to receive your guild ID." someone in front of them said.
He wore a white robe and had no special traits that seemed to distinguish his ranking in the guild.
Everyone got into a line, Jiang Mei and Su Lie in first and second respectively while Feng Muyang stayed in the back.
"You are now a D-rank member of the guild." The man said as he handed Jiang Mei her form of identification in the guild: A card with her name on it.
The card had no picture on it as a form of identification, it only had her name on it, her birth date and her rank in the guild.
With this kind of identification if it was stolen one could easily pretend to be the person in question.
"Next." The man said, his voice with a hint of boredom.
'Already!' Su Lie thought.
The man handed him a card which had the exact same identification except the fact that the name was different.
"Next!"
Su Lie walked a bit to the left, he was about to go when something peculiar caught his eye.
The man had handed a girl a card that had E-rank on it instead of D-rank.
'I guess my performance gave me some perks.' Su Lie thought. 'Perks I will exploit to the best of my abilities!'
