As a D-rank member of the guild there weren't much perks, it only put them slighty above E-rank members whom their missions went from gathering herbs to cleaning the guild.
Jiang Mei promptly left after obtaining her ID, not even bothering to bid Su Lie goodbye. He thought she had her reasons so it was okay.
He on the other hand, had escaped from the house while everyone else at home were snoozing away.
Su Lie took his time leaving the guild, he had been given a fire mid-grade cultivation manual before leaving the third floor.
It wasn't a surprise as he already knew that lightning cultivation manuals were rare, but the people in this town undervalued lightning as it was not only a rare element but they believed it to be as useful as fire.
He moved slowly while taking the view in, surely he could already see a glimpse of what was going to happen when he got home.
At most he would get questioned a bit by his mother about why he was away and receive a bit of nagging here and a bit of nagging there.
As he came closer to his home he saw children playing, some practiced their sloppy martial arts and only managed to look adoring rather than serious like they pretended to be.
On another corner adults were cultivating, building up the Qi in their body until it reached the boiling point while others sat in meditative positions absorbing Qi. There was no doubt they were being copied by the children.
Some of the non-cultivators sat in their backyard, some old and some young discussing about non-important things and gossiping about baseless things and rumors. There was also some love play A.K.A intense flirting that the children couldn't help but wonder it would lead to the infamous fighting on the bed that their parents usually did.
"Big brother!" Su Lie heard a voice from behind him.
His pace quickened. The voice sounded child-like making him think one of the children were calling him to play with them. But it also sounded familiar.
"Big brother, help me carry some stuff!" The voice sounded again.
Su Lie quickened his pace, his thoughts going to what this young child wanted him to carry. Pills, drugs, illegal property?
"Su Lie!" The voice finally said.
Su Lie stopped in his tracks, he recognized the voice now. And nobody outside his family called him by his full name, something he didn't share with his family.
He recognized the voice before but he decided to go with the "all children sound the same" crap that was never right.
"Yao Fei." Su Lie said in recognition.
"Is this a naming contest?" She said sarcastically at her brother who was acting like they hadn't seen in 100 years.
He looked at her.
She was wearing her school's girl uniform. She was dragging behind her a heavy metal bucket which made her look like a diligent hardworking, respectful girl working hard for her family to make ends meet.
She was extra adorable today due to the fact that her uniform was half a size too big for her. Excluding the metal bucket she looked like a beautiful flower that would dance brilliantly in the wind.
Her expression showed annoyance, which further accentuated her cuteness.
"Big brother, come help me carry this load." She said.
He smiled, ruffling her hair up before picking the metal bucket from the ground.
"Ah, big brother you are messing with my hair." She said running away from his grasp.
They were going home so Su Lie decided to check the bucket, not only was it heavy but it also seemed to contain precious things. Things someone who wasn't rich shouldn't be able to afford.
A thought came to his mind.
'Could Yao Fei have stolen it?' it was a possibility because he knew there shouldn't be any way his family should be able to afford this.
"Who did you steal it from?" Su Lie questioned his baby sister.
"Steal? Big brother you are pointing accusing fingers." She said."It was dad who bought all of this."
Su Lie put his free hand on his chin, where in the world would his father see such money to be able to afford this.
In the metal bucket there were several clothes, Su Lie wondered where his father would see money to buy new clothes in such quantity when he had been putting aside money for resources to cultivate.
"Impossible." He muttered to himself after he had focused on the clothes.
"Did you say something?" Yao Fei asked him.
However he paid no heed to her, he was sensing a faint amount of Qi from these clothes. He knew he had poor detection skills but the fact that even he was able to sense that there was Qi present in these clothes meant something.
He opened the system tab and immediately started browsing through the skills he could use.
Most of them included moves that were not related to the system so he skipped past them.
After several minutes of searching he finally found what he was looking for..
[Appraisal:
A skill that allows you to see the personal information of an object, skill, plant, animal and even human.
Cost: 300P]
Immediately he bought it, not even caring that he just spent 300P in one go.
He suddenly felt a short burst of pain as the information on how to use the skill entered his mind.
"Ugghh." He groaned in disgust.
The system had been very indecent in trying to describe what he was supposed to do.
'Caress the person with your imaginary fingers and imagine trying to make them open up.'
The system told him to be a pervert when using the skill.
Sighing in disgust he used his imaginary fingers to try roughly picking up the cloth.
Information about the item popped up, but it made him temporarily forget everything when he saw the information.
[Grade 1 Protection Clothes:
Provides the wearer with grade 1 protection using Qi and spiritual energy to absorb attacks]
'As vague as usual, how much do you expect me to...'
'WAAIT!!!! Since when could dad afford this???!!!! And in such quantity!!!!'
Su Lie shouted mentally.
Yao Fei saw him looking at the clothes before his expression contorted into one of shock.
Even though he didn't know what this was he knew that it would take his father some weeks to even afford a shirt, not even an entire wardrobe.
"Big brother are you thinking of a girl?" Yao Fei asked.
At those words Su Lie woke up from his daydreaming and bonked Yao Fei on her head, she had a tendency to say things like this when he wasn't paying attention.
"The only girl I need to think about is you." Su Lie said.
"Oh no, big brother stop trying to hit on me, I'm too young!" She said shaking her head at such thoughts with her hand on her cheeks.
"I-..." Su Lie stopped talking. It wasn't worth it.
'When did Yao Fei turn out like this... Oh yes, I remember... It was when she found the talisman I kept all my romance novels and read them.' Su Lie shaked his head remembering the day he came home only to find his sister on his bed reading his romance novels.
'And she was so cute when she was a baby.' He thought.
They walked home together with Yao Fei bragging about how she was not only the best marksman in the class but also the greatest swordsman in her class.
Su Lie on the other hand shook his head at the thought of using a sword.
He preferred a Katana no matter which day.
To him this moment seemed like one in which someone would find in a normal day and excluding the fact that he carried expensive protective clothes this indeed would be a normal day.
