Chereads / The Espers' Omega Guide / Chapter 4 - The Dean

Chapter 4 - The Dean

Once Jekiel stopped in front of the Dean's office, it was clear to Yanah that her little tour was over, and that she would be facing an important person in the Awakener's world.

'The retired Awakener's Guild master 12 years ago. Mrs. Kime.' Yanah gulped at the thought.

It was pretty well known even in the civilian's world that the greatest guide that appeared 15 years ago was Mrs. Kime. She was the very first S-Class Guide that appeared in the world. Many Espers had sought her comforting touch in the past.

She controlled the Awakener's Guild for a short time of 3 years before jumping to the offer of being the Dean of Éveilleur University.

'To think that I would be able to meet such a legend.' Yanah would never have thought of such a thing. After all, she rarely had any interest in Awakener's business.

"Ms. Yanah, I have escorted you to your destination. I bid farewell." Mr. Jekiel slightly bowed his head as he turned to her side.

"Thank you for protecting me well, Mr. Jekiel. I appreciate it." Yanah courtesyly bowed her head in return.

Jekiel looked at the unperturbed face of the guide and realized that she would be a good partner for the five most troublesome Espers in the University.

'It depends whether Zed Lutian will able to convince the Dean, though...' Jekiel amusedly thought about the dominant Alpha of the troublesome pack he once worked with.

'It's going to be interesting.' A small sly grin appeared on Jekiel's red lips as he bow down to the young guide.

"It's my duty." After leaving those words, Jekiel turned back, his good figure quickly leaving the place. His calming and secure presence was gone, leaving Yanah to look at the Dean's door with a little nervous fidget.

"Let's go." Yanah cheered herself up and raised her hand to knock on the beautifully carved wooden door three times. 'Yanah, you can do this! We've always been quite audacious, no?'

Now, she even resorted to talking to herself to ease the slight anxiety rising within.

"Come in." Mrs. Kime's voice beyond the door carried a commanding presence, leaving no room for doubt or misinterpretation. Yet, beneath her authority lies a gentle undertone, a softness that invites rather than intimidates.

'It sounded so authorative yet also so soft.'

As if enchanted, Yanah blankly opened the wooden door.

The Dean's office is a masterful blend of advanced modernity and elegant tradition, reflecting both the university's prestigious history and its forward-looking vision.

Upon entering, Yanah is immediately struck by the room's serene atmosphere, a space meticulously designed to both command respect and foster calm.

The walls are lined with rich, dark wood paneling, intricately carved with subtle patterns that echo the institution's heritage. Above the paneling, sections of the walls are painted in a soft, warm hue, with sleek, modern art pieces adding a touch of contemporary sophistication.

The room is bathed in natural light filtering through tall, arched windows draped in heavy, velvet curtains that frame the view outside, but the windows themselves are fitted with state-of-the-art privacy glass that can shift from clear to opaque at the touch of a button.

In the center of the room stands a grand mahogany desk, polished to a mirror-like sheen.

Yanah saw the imposing piece, deeply rooted in tradition, yet its surface is equipped with subtle, built-in technology, a concealed touchpad, a holographic interface, and wireless charging stations, that keeps the office at the cutting edge of modern functionality.

The desk is free from clutter, save for a single, antique inkwell and a quill, juxtaposed against a sleek, minimalist tablet.

Behind the desk, a high-backed leather chair sits, its design a fusion of classical comfort and modern ergonomics, offering both the authority of a throne and the ease of contemporary seating.

Flanking the desk are tall bookshelves, filled with a mix of leather-bound volumes and digital tablets, the latter glowing faintly with the latest academic publications and research.

The seating area for visitors is equally harmonious. Plush, velvet armchairs are arranged around a low, glass coffee table, which seems to float above the floor on an almost invisible base.

The chairs are inviting, their deep cushions offering comfort, but their design is undeniably modern, with clean lines and a muted color palette that complements the room's overall decor.

A crystal vase holding fresh flowers, a single, framed photograph, and a small, glowing orb that pulses gently with a soft, soothing light, a subtle reminder of the Dean's unique role as a Guide.

Finally, the air in the office is lightly scented with lavender and sandalwood, creating an ambiance of peace and focus.

And the very owner of such dignified room is seated from the high-backed leather chair, a soft smile gracing her lips as she looked at Yanah silently.

'The pressure is no joke.' Yanah internally commented. But then again, who wouldn't be pressured to meet the Guide who was once able to make all the Espers quiten in her presence?

"Relax, Ms. Yanah Franshire."

Yanah felt her shoulders going down. She didn't even noticed when her body started tensing up.

"Good morning, Ma'am." Yanah bowed respectfully. When her head lifted up, she saw the woman's beautiful smile.

Even Yanah, a fellow Guide and omega, felt momentarily mesmerize.

No matter how old the Espers and Guides are, it doesn't reflect much on their appearance. It was one of the benefit of being an awakened.

And the benefits only grew stronger the higher one's class is.

'Am I going to look beautiful like these too? Well, I'm SSS-class, so maybe?' Suddenly, being a guide doesn't seem to bad for Yanah.

Yanah, who was strangely obsess with beauty, likes beautiful faces and her own isn't an exception.

"Ms. Yanah, please be seated. We don't want you getting tired." Mrs. Kime's languid smile made Yanah willingly sit on the opposite polished velvet arm chair.

"I have yet to introduce myself. I am the Dean of Éveilleur University, Colleen Kime."
