Andrew's POV
"Jade, wait up!" I called out but it was too late. Jade was already walking away.
I turned to face Sophia, my anger rising. Her usual sweet smile which was starting to annoy me, was still plastered on her face.
"What is the meaning of that?" I asked her.
She stared at me, in surprise.
"I should be asking you that question. What is the meaning of that?" She retorted.
"Meaning of what?" I asked her, furrowing my eyebrows.
"What I saw you two doing! Why are you dancing with her?" She asked me.
I scoffed at her question which sounded so ridiculous to my hearing.
"Why can't I dance with her? And why are you concerned about who I choose to dance with?" I shot back at her.
For a moment, my response left her speechless and she narrowed her eyes at me.
"Maybe because of what we are... to each other?" She ventured, her tone questioning.
I couldn't help but scoff again.
"What we are? Have you forgotten we are friends with benefits? Isn't that how you defined our relationship?" I asked rhetorically.
She bit her lower lip as she probably thought of what to reply me with.
"As my friend with benefits, you don't have to be concerned about who I choose to dance with, or even sleep with." I told her firmly.
Her face fell, and she was quiet. I took that as my cue to go after Jade and I did just that.
I walked around, searching the dance floor for Jade and I did find her but not alone. I stood still, taking in the sight.
She was dancing with Thomas. And his hands were at where they shouldn't be ...On her waist! Her waist which was meant for only me to hold and caress.
At the sight of that, my eyes turned red with rage.
"How dare Thomas touch my girl?" I growled and my wolf was already at the forefront, definitely baring his teeth at Thomas, but inwardly.
I was about to take a step forward to go and pull my girl out of Thomas's hold when I heard him speak up.
"You know, Jade, I've been wanting to talk to you for a while now," Thomas said, his voice low and smooth.
With my supernatural werewolf powers, I could hear him, clearly.
"You're always so focused on your studies, I figured you could use a break and hace some fun." Thomas added.
Jade raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Thomas's sudden interest.
"Really? Okay, so what have you been wanting to talk to me about?" I heard Jade ask him. Her voice barely audible over the music.
Thomas leaned in, his breath definitely tickling her ear.
"Because, Jade, you're the most fascinating and beautiful woman in this room, and I aim to find out what makes you tick." As he said that, my blood boiled and my wolf unleashed a loud, menacing growl.
A loud, angry growl!
~
Third person's POV
As the growl reverberated through the room, Thomas's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly regained his composure and smiled reassuringly at Jade.
"Did you hear that? Is that a growl?" Jade asked Thomas, a hint of fear flickering in her big eyes.
" A growl? I doubt that. It is probably just the sound system or a stray animal outside." Thomas said to her, reassuringly.
But Jade's curiosity was piqued. She glanced around, trying to locate the source of the growl, and that's when she saw Andrew, his eyes fixed intently on her and Thomas. His expression was unreadable, but the air around him seemed to hum with tension.
Thomas followed her gaze, and his smile faltered for a moment before he regained his composure.
"Hey, Andrew, what's up?" Thomas called out, his voice friendly but with a hint of challenge.
Andrew didn't respond, but his eyes never left Jade's face. She felt a shiver run down her spine at his gaze. As Andrew's eyes locked onto hers, Jade could see a flicker of something primal, something wild, in their depths.
Thomas, sensing the tension, took a step back, his eyes darting between Andrew and Jade.
"What is going on, Andrew? Are you okay? Do you need something from Jade?" he asked, concern etched in his voice.
Still, Andrew didn't respond. Instead, he turned and walked away, disappearing into the crowd.
The uneasy silence which had fallen over the room was shattered as the music resumed playing again.
"What just happened?" Jade wondered.
Jade's heart raced as she tried to process what had just happened. She felt an inexplicable pull to follow Andrew, to find uncover what was troubling him.
She made her way through the crowd and ran in the direction that Andrew had gone.
She finally found Andrew outside, standing at the edge of the forest that loomed beyond the party venue. His back was to her, and his shoulders seemed to be shaking.
"Andrew, what's going on?" Jade asked, from behind him, her voice barely above a whisper.
Andrew could not reply her nor turn to face her. He was struggling to control his inner turmoil. His anger fueled by jealousy had taken the best of him and his wolf. His werewolf instincts were getting harder to suppress.
His wolf was trying to take full control and force him to shift.
"She can't see me like this, not yet." Andrew mumbled to himself.
"Andrew, what's wrong?" Jade asked, again, concern etched on her face.
Andrew took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
"I ... I just need some fresh air. I want to be ... Be alone." He stammered, trying to sound normal.
Jade looked uncertain, but she nodded.
"Okay, I'll leave you alone for a bit." She told him.
As she turned to go, Andrew felt a pang of regret. He wanted to be with her. But he couldn't do that at the moment.
Just then, Thomas appeared, his eyes narrowed.
"Jade, Is everything okay with him?" He inquired.
Jade hesitated, looking at Andrew, then back at Thomas.
"Yeah, I want to believe he is." Jade replied Thomas. The latter had a confused look on his face.
"He said he wants to be alone for a while." Jade explained further and the explanation erased the confusion on Thomas's face.
"We should go back inside, then. He would definitely join us when he is done, clearing his head." Thomas said to Jade and held her hand.
"Yeah, let us go." Jade agreed.
As they walked away, Andrew felt his control slipping. He needed to get away, to find a safe place to transform. The forest beckoned, and he sprinted towards it.
