Chapter 25: Imminent Death!

After slicing Pablo in two, the maze walker did not remain to kill the others. To the surprise and shock of the group, it disappeared as fast as it came.

*Thump* *Thump*

"KYAAAAAAAAAAAA!" The cries were only heard after the horrific entity did its job and left; its effect was slow to seep in as Dali, Max, and Yu fell to the ground before Lisa screamed as high as she could.

Pablo's body was sliced in two, similar to Speed's case. Zen looked at his corpse intently as the man who had been walking with them a few minutes ago had his blood seeping out of his organs as they slowly slid through the floor.

What do they do now? What do they do now that they know? Now that they knew who they were against, how were they supposed to survive against an entity that could magically teleport wherever they were and... and in a split second, kill them and disappear as swiftly?

This was asking for the impossible! They were nothing but mortals. Just how were they supposed to escape from this hell if the only way for them to do so was by killing it?

The members of the group were now too scared, too sad, too... lost to do anything.

They had to look for that one scroll that had the information they needed in order to beat this entity, but how do you expect them to move when, at any second, that... thing could appear to snatch their lives?

This was what Zen was thinking about and it was all facts. The only two capable of forcing themselves to move despite the situation they were in were the mature and older individuals of the group, Sabrina and Alex.

Just one look was all it took for one to understand that Dali, Max, Yu, and Lisa were in no state to continue the search for the scroll. They needed to be told to do so; they needed to be motivated to do so, but who would do that? Just... who could raise the morals of a group when he himself was down? That wasn't something a human was capable of doing.

Zen could, however, but that would be too weird... too out of character for him, If anything, he should be crying with the young men of the gorup, vomiting whatever he had just eaten, but... He couldn't.

Zen's red eyes shone as his mind ran in overdrive in an attempt to find a solution.

Should he leave the four behind and move with Sabrina and Alex? But how can he convince them to do so? In fact, that would make them suspicious of him, and that was the last thing he wanted.

So what should he do?

"Alex, Sabrina, you guys take care of them; move to somewhere safe; I will be looking for that scroll." Zen suddenly spoke, catching the group off guard.

"You can't, Zen. It's too dangerous." Alex tried to warn Zen, but...

"No, it's our only chance. Look at them; do you think they are in any state to continue looking for the scroll? I don't think so. So please, just this once." Zen pointed at the four who were on the ground, crying, vomiting, or just in too much shock to move.

"Alright, we will be waiting for you close to the chest where we found the scroll." Alex looked behind him and then back at Zen before he closed his eyes, pursed his lips, and gave up trying to make him stay.

"Zen." When Zen turned away, Sabrina, who had been silent until now, called.

"Don't die." Was what she said when he turned to look at her.

Zen just nodded and, in one swift motion, turned and ran at full speed. The duo looked at his back until he turned at the end of the corridor before they looked at the four who were still on the ground.

'This will be a pain.' they thought.

----------------------

How was Zen going to find the scroll when all he had was his trap detection trait?

He didn't.

Zen didn't have a trap detection trait.

He lied.

"Right, Left, Right, Right, Left." Running at full speed, Zen skillfully evaded the traps on the ground as he accurately picked the right turn he spoke of every time.

From Zen's vision, dark panels with crimson engravings could be seen; every time he looked at one, words were directly transmitted to his brain.

[You might not want to step here.]

[Careful, it's a trap.]

[Ah, This looks like a dead end.]

[Turn right. Hey! I said turn right.]

This was Zen's true trait.
