Chapter 29 - Choices!

Chapter 29: Choices!

[Choose between: {1. The final reward of this trial will be divided between all five of you.} or {2. Only you keep the reward, but everybody else dies.}]

[I wish you all the luck.]

[To Hell!]

Two choices. They looked easy to choose.

They had options 1 and option 2. The choice seemed easy, but their fingers were too heavy to choose.

The group looked at each other in worry, distrust, and fear. All of those here met not even an hour after they were spawned; they went through so much together; they witnessed comrades die in front of their eyes; they sacrificed for each other.

In such a short period of time, they had done things most friends wouldn't think twice about before choosing to betray you over.

So... no one would betray them in this... ultimate moment.

After all, they were more than friends... right? They cried, laughed, vomited, and slept together. They got each other's backs against enemies and against other teammates. Hell, one of theirs even died for them.

So, of course, a little reward wouldn't change anything. What was even this reward? No one knew. So why would they leave something so precious, such as this gem of a relationship they had between them for something ethereal that they didn't even know of? What if it was a rip off? It wasn't worth it no matter how one thought about it.

The voice said that after this, they would be thrown in hell—a continent in hell. They would probably have to fight against stronger enemies, smarter opponents, and maybe even monsters such as the maze walker. Who could guarantee them that they could survive all alone?

Let's not forget that if Zen wasn't here, they wouldn't even have made it this far. Another thing to add to the equation.

[Ah, I forgot to leave a little note. If two or more choose the second option, then everybody dies. Good Luck!] The voice returned once again, its words not making things worse; in fact, it gave the group even more of a reason for them to put their trust in their teammates.

While the options were floating in front of the group, nobody spoke, not even a single word was heard after the voice rang out.

They were scared. They were scared that whatever they end up saying, hearing, doing, or seeing strays them away from their current choice. So, they just remained silent.

"I made my choice." Dali was the first to speak. He didn't have to think too much; he just chose the option he had in mind while putting his blind trust in his 'friends'.

In Dali's mind, there was no way any of them would choose the second option, and even if someone went and did it, he... just felt like it didn't truly matter.

Dying, living—why care when they're coming out of a trial straight to the actual true hell?

This was Dali's thought as he made his choice.

"I did too." Max was the second to choose; seeing as Dali went at it, he had no reason to stop anymore.

If he truly had to choose between all of those here, then Dali was the kindest, most pure child who wouldn't dare harm a fly. So after seeing him make his choice, his last worries disappeared as if they were never there.

There were only 3 remaining, Sabrina, Lisa, and Zen. All three took a few glances around before Lisa made the first move.

"I did it." she said. While Lisa couldn't say she was a good girl, when it came to emotions and getting attached, nobody could beat her. Losing Sabrina and the others for a little reward? No, thank you! Who's she going to hide behind when sh*t hits the fan?

*Sigh*

Sabrina sighed while shaking her head, This action of hers tugged fear inside everybody's souls, but, seeing the smile on her face, their worries eased.

"You guys are really helpless." She said.

"Alright, it's up to you, Zen." She added, looking directly at Zen with a warm, motherly expression on her face that the group had never seen before.

"Oh man, you scared me for a second there, Sabrina." Max exclaimed, almost falling to the ground. One would think he had weak knees if they didn't know the hardships he went through.

"I wonder what that sinful continent or whatever will be like." Lisa said, her face free of worries.

"Right? I at least hope we can find something to eat, a place to rest, and most importantly, not have to worry about our heads every waking hour." Dali added.

"Haha, so true." Max shimed in.

Sabrina and Zen watched all of this, both smiling.

It seems the trust they had in Zen was far higher than he ever wished for it to be. Even if his trait confirmed that.

[What a cute bunch you have here, so oblivious.]

"Right?" Zen spoke, gaining the attention of the others.

"Yeah!" Dali, hearing Zen's words, thought that he was agreeing with him. But when he turned to look at him, his face changed.

"Z- Zen?" Dali stuttered, his voice making the other 3 turn to look at Zen, and when they saw him, shivers ran down their spine.

[All choices have been submitted.]

[Option 1, 4 votes.]

[Option 2... 1 vote.]
