Throughout the ride back to the palace, Jacquelyn couldn't contain her excitement. She was really going to see what her father and siblings looked like. Maybe if they saw her face, they wouldn't call her cursed anymore since she was just a normal girl.
At intervals, Jacquelyn would push the carriage curtain to the side, her feet tapping nervously on the floor. She couldn't wait to get home. All the pain in her body had vanished, replaced by thoughts of seeing her father, hugging him, and asking him why she was cursed.
The princess adjusted her dress and touched her hair. She looked down at her shoes to make sure everything was in order. She didn't want to appear unkempt during her first meeting with her family. Jacquelyn wished Griselda were with her; at that moment, she wanted to hold someone because she was trembling.
Touching her hair again, Jacquelyn tried to fix the brooch on her dress.
