Jacquelyn turned her body on the bed, feeling sore all over. She opened her eyes, staring blankly at the ceiling. It felt like something hard had knocked her on the head because every time she tried to move her eyes to the side, she felt a splitting headache that made her want to fall asleep again.
She finally sat up on the bed, touching her hair. Looking at her tattered shirt and how dirty her body looked at that moment, she muttered, "I reek of filth." She pushed her legs down to stand up but fell back again.
Ballister, who was brewing tea at the table, heard the movement and ran to check on the princess. "You're finally awake."
Jacquelyn furrowed her brows. "What do you mean-" a yawn escaped her mouth, "finally awake?"
Ballister's eyes filled with tears. "You lost so much blood and stayed asleep for two days," he informed her, grateful that the girl finally woke up.
