Ember saw a cat tearing the shadows apart with its lightning. The cat moved faster than any shadow, shredding them with its mere body. The shadows scattered, leaving Ember alone on the stairs. Although she was covered in her own blood, she was far from dying.
The cat landed next to Ember. It looked at her with intelligent eyes, then turned to the shadow army gathering around them. Lightning sparked on its twin horns before it began firing without pause.
"Who are you?" asked Ember in confusion. The cat was unlike anything she had encountered inside this dungeon. It clearly belonged to someone other than the summoner, Kain.
An image flashed in her mind. Could it be him who sent this creature to save her? But how could he tame it? And where was he?
