Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: I’m looking for someone who has staying power.

Emma's Pov

As I was leaving the airport, I couldn't help but look forward to meeting what could be my daughter-in-law.

That's right, today, I'm going to meet that Lisandra That Viktor had been so elusive about and that only made me more eager to meet the girl who might one day become my daughter-in-law.

I had raised Viktor with certain values and standards, and now, here I was, sneaking around to get a sense of whether Lisandra was truly the one for him. Viktor trusted me, but sometimes a mother's instincts just couldn't wait for formal introductions.

Of course, Viktor had no idea about my true purpose for this visit. I told him I was coming to Los Angeles for the wedding of a close friend's daughter.

That was my cover story, but in reality, I was here to secretly meet the girl who had managed to capture his heart. With Hugo's help, I was able to make the arrangements without Viktor suspecting a thing. He was busy with work in France anyway, so I had the perfect opportunity.

Instead of checking into a hotel like I normally would, I went straight to the Luminara Media branch in Los Angeles. Hugo had let me know that Lisandra had a training session there today, and I was eager to see her in action. I wanted to witness, with my own eyes, the dedication and passion Viktor had raved about. Talent, after all, was never enough in Hollywood.

Upon arriving at the sleek, modern building that housed Luminara's Los Angeles branch, I was greeted by none other than James White, the branch's chief. He stood waiting for me in the lobby, dressed sharply and exuding a professional charm.

Seeing me coming, he said: "Welcome, Mrs. Armand, it's a pleasure to see you after a long time; you are as beautiful as ever. Mr Hugo informed me about your visit for inspection."

I smiled at his compliments, though I knew there was little drama surrounding my identity as Hugo's wife.

It was no secret that I was involved in Luminara's affairs, and my visit here, though it had an ulterior motive, was disguised under the pretext of inspecting the branch. James, being a diligent subordinate, didn't question it. After all, it wasn't his place to interrogate his superiors.

"Thank you, James," I replied with a nod. "Since you've already been informed, you should know that my inspection today is primarily focused on the lead singer of the newly formed band. The company is putting great emphasis on this project, and I want to ensure everything is on the right track."

James nodded, his expression serious. "Lisandra? The instructors have been full of praise for her talent. Since she began training, her dedication has been undeniable. I think, with continued effort, she has a very bright future."

I acknowledged his words with a slight nod, though I wasn't entirely convinced. "Talent is one thing, James. Hollywood has never been short on talent. It's easy to show dedication in the beginning, but success has a way of inflating egos. I'm not interested in someone who shines for a moment and fades. I'm looking for someone who has staying power."

James blinked, clearly considering my words. "Of course, Mrs. Armand. Seeing is believing."

"Exactly," I said with a smile. "Now, let's see if she's really as good as they say."

James gestured towards the hallway. "Shall we?" he asked, leading me toward the training room.

End Of Emma's Pov

When Emma was in the United States, Viktor was still in France; today, he is also going to a meeting with Gilly, the one he talked with Rebecca last week to become their manager.

"So, Mr. Viktor, let me be straight to the point; I was surprised when Luminara called me saying to be the manager of their new band."

"With all the publicity, I'm very sure they attach great importance to your band; they said you asked personality to meet me; I'm curious what makes you interested in me."

Gilly, also known as Gilbert, was much calmer than Viktor thought based on how Rebecca described him.

Nonetheless, Viktor said: "First of all, we need to make one point clear, I'm not interested in you, but in your talent."

"In this band, I have great authority thanks to my status; I'm confident that the company would support us now with all the members present, we certainly need a manager."

"The manager I want for the band isn't someone conservative or who only cares about making a profit; no; I want someone who can help become popular and is good at crisis management."

"As we aren't going in a one music genre, we need more Successful promotion, someone with good management to coordinate our fans who like different music genres and many more."

"Ms Rebecca recommended you to us; I also feel you fit my vision, which is the reason for our meeting here."

As he listened to Viktor's words, an uncontrollable smile appeared on Gilly's face.

He replied: "I see; you want someone who can think outside the box, not just to be restricted in one kind of music or being thought but the traditional understanding of the industry but want someone more innovative."

He looked at Viktor with the kind of look an Otaku would have seeing another Otaku: "If you're looking for someone who can navigate the complexities of a band with diverse genres and fan bases, I believe I can meet those expectations. Crisis management and creative promotion strategies are definitely my strengths."

Viktor smiled in approval: "Yeah, that's exactly the kind of manager I'm looking for; my band doesn't need to care about how much money we can make or how to attract fans; I just want someone to make as many people as possible heard our music."

"But, although I'm satisfied with the meeting with you tonight, I can't decide by myself; I need to talk to the other to see if they have objections."

Although they reached a preliminary agreement, they didn't leave but continued discussing; Viktor wanted to have more understanding of Gilly, and it was also the same for Gilly.
