Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Icon

Two months and one week later, Viktor was sitting with his mother watching TV, completely relaxed—unlike in the past three months. That's right, Viktor had already completed his invention.

To be honest, he didn't feel as excited as he expected. Maybe it was because, deep down, his only true goal was to create a full-fledged Virtual Reality game, and everything else felt like a small step along the way.

When the drama they were watching ended (Viktor was, of course, forced to watch the drama), an ad began, as usual.

[This fall… get ready for the biggest talent hunt of the year!]

The screen flashed to life with fast-paced images. A school stage with flashing lights appeared, followed by shots of excited and serious young contestants waiting in the wings. The camera zoomed in on the red, shining sign that read: Campus Icons: The Ultimate Talent Show!

As the ad progressed, it first showed a beautiful girl with a guitar singing a ballad. Then, a group of dancers executing flawless choreography in perfect sync—the audience, which seemed to include families and schoolmates, roared in approval. Another shot featured a violinist concentrating intensely, her eyes filled with ambition.

In just 15 seconds, different kinds of performers were shown, each wearing unique school uniforms from all over France, showcasing a wide range of talents. It was fascinating in an era when people didn't yet have the constant distractions of the internet, and seeing such talents was still captivating.

The screen then cut to a massive audience in a packed auditorium, cheering and waving banners of support.

[One stage, one dream. Schools from across the country—only one can win!]

[Who will rise… and who will fall?]

Campus Icons: The Ultimate School Talent Show. Premiering this September on Emma TV.

[Don't miss the moment where futures are made!]

After the ad ended, Viktor couldn't help but smile. It wasn't just because of the ad—though that was part of it.

Why was Viktor receiving so many reputation points? It was because he was the one who had planned the show.

Two months ago, while watching TV with his mother, his Innovative Thinking skill—which had reached the Master level—kicked in.

At the time, he had taken a break from his invention to spend some time with his mother. She mentioned how she was getting bored of watching TV dramas. As she flipped through the channels, she came across a show that invited popular artists every week. This reminded Viktor of some successful shows from his past life, and that's when he found inspiration for his original show.

That's right—Viktor's show was an original idea. In fact, he didn't have much of a choice. In his previous life, he had been American, but now he was French. The language, preferences, population size, and many other things were different.

But then, drawing from the successful shows he remembered and with the help of his Innovative Thinking, he figured out how to adapt it to his current situation.

The population in France wasn't as large compared to countries with booming entertainment industries like Japan, the USA, China, or India. They didn't have specialized industries like Japan's manga, Korean dramas and idol shows, Hollywood in the US, or Chinese cinema.

Since that was the case, Viktor knew he needed a show that could capture the interest of a wide range of the population. After racking his brain for a while, he realized that nearly everyone is connected to schools in one way or another. Whether you're in school, have children in school, or have siblings, cousins, or neighbors in school—schools touch almost everyone.

So, if he created a talent show where contestants represented their schools, entire communities—including neighbors, classmates, and even people from the same district—would pay attention. And most importantly, it would be fun to watch.

He based the show on several inspirations from his past life, like X Factor and The Voice's mentorship phase, and America's Got Talent with its wide range of talent categories.

It took him one week to complete the idea. When he shared it with his mother, she was very interested and excited. In the end, they decided to air it on her channel, Emma TV. Then, the mother and son teamed up, and his father had no choice but to invest in it.

Once the idea was finalized, Luminara Media began promoting the show immediately, even before the entire plan was complete.

With his father forced agreeing to fund the project, they secured the best producers, set designers, and talent scouts to ensure everything was perfect for the launch.

Like usual, Viktor had to return to juggling multiple tasks at once. With the help of professionals, he carefully designed every aspect of the show, ensuring it would capture the public's attention. The format had to be engaging, relatable, and above all, exciting.

Thanks to Luminara Media's influence in France, which is above even that of Hollywood Big 6, the promotional campaign was massive. Posters, billboards, and information about the show were everywhere.

After consulting with professionals, Viktor introduced a clever twist: Alumni Performances. Each school could invite a former student to perform alongside the current contestants. This added an extra layer of excitement because if a school successfully invited a celebrity alumnus, the school would gain even more recognition.

It wouldn't just be a competition for current students—it would become a national event where entire communities, spanning multiple generations, would be invested in their school's victory.

And finally, the show had a trump card: Viktor's invention. Since his camera was now complete, it would be the first show filmed in 720p HD format.

The first part, Introduction & Showcases, was set to start in about three weeks, and all the contestants had already been confirmed. As the host, Viktor felt nervous—it would be his first time being publicly known.

"Well," he thought, "a handsome man like me should attract plenty of fans, even if I'm not a professional, right?" In the three weeks leading up to the premiere, he would study The Art of Hosting.
