Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: A Mother's Drama

After saying goodbye to Rebecca, Viktor returned home. Since he decided to take a break today, he might as well spend the time with his mother.

When he arrived, she was sitting and watching some TV drama. He couldn't help but complain, "Truly an otaku material."

Emma, who was watching TV, heard someone speak. Turning her head and seeing Viktor, she made a surprised face before smiling teasingly.

"Viktor, you're back so early? I thought you'd spend the night out."

Knowing she was teasing him, he replied, "Why should I spend the night outside when I have a beautiful mother waiting for me?"

The evening between the two was spent like this, talking about everything that came to mind without worrying about anything else.

It wasn't until Viktor's father returned that they had dinner as a family. It was really harmonious.

"Viktor, how was your meeting with Rebecca?" asked Hugo. But then, recalling the rule of not talking about work at home, his instinct to avoid sleeping on the couch kicked in, and he added, "Or do you want to pursue her?"

Emma didn't think much of it, believing Hugo was just curious. She also asked Viktor the same question. Viktor knew his father didn't like gossip, so he deduced Hugo was only interested in the first question.

"Indeed, she is very beautiful, but unfortunately, I'm already interested in another woman."

There was nothing to hide among them, and he was telling the truth. The only question was whether his interest would develop into love.

It was then that he felt a resentful glare coming from his mother, as if she were asking, "Why didn't you tell me about this earlier?"

Hugo was also surprised. Though he wasn't interested in gossip, this was the first time Viktor had declared his interest in a woman.

Curiously, Hugo asked, "Do I know this girl?"

In his eyes, Viktor was still a boy, so the girl he liked was naturally considered just that, a girl.

"Well, you should know her. She's the first member of my band, Lisandra, who signed the contract two days before the others."

Emma, who didn't know the inside story, couldn't help but say, "Geez, you're just attracted to a girl and already showing favoritism?"

"I know these girls in Hollywood; many of them aren't good people. That's why I have few friends and didn't want to stay in the industry. They'll do anything to become celebrities. Maybe they have their reasons, but you should be careful. Don't trust them easily or show favoritism, or they'll take it for granted."

Emma, who was playful at first, now sounded worried. That's how parents are—they want you to find love but also don't want you to fall too quickly.

Viktor understood her concern. Falling in love can sometimes be like a curse that ruins someone's life.

"Mom, why are you so worried about this?"

"I didn't say I'm in love, just that I'm interested in her. Plus, you should at least trust your son's intelligence and ability to judge people."

"Even if I'm wrong, it would only be her loss to let go of someone as good as me. I'm not the type to lose everything for someone who doesn't care about me."

After hearing Viktor's response, she calmed down. It was then that she realized she might have been a little too hard. No one likes others meddling in their love life.

She laughed, "Haha, sorry. I've just been watching too many dramas lately and seem to have let myself go. Speaking of her, can you bring her over? I want to see the woman who caught your attention."

Viktor couldn't help but think back to the time he was forced to watch those dramas as a child. He replied, "I think you should cut back on the dramas. They're not good for your health."

"As for the girl I'm interested in, her name is Lisandra, and she lives in the United States, so you won't be able to meet her anytime soon."

Emma breathed a sigh of relief, seeing that Viktor didn't take her words to heart. At the same time, she could understand why some of her friends complained that their children didn't want to spend time with them.

She was just worried about Viktor and didn't mean anything by it, but she realized she seemed like she was trying to control his life. It was truly a mess.

Anyway, she didn't dwell on it and teased him, "Well, you better make sure I meet her. I have to make sure she's good enough for my son."

In fact, she was already planning on meeting Lisandra in secret. She was really curious about this girl.

Hugo, who had been quietly listening to the conversation between mother and son, finally intervened by saying, "Emma, let the boy breathe. He's smart enough to handle himself. And besides, Lisandra signed with Luminara Media, right? She's not just some random girl."

Viktor was relieved. He didn't want to discuss the subject any further. He hadn't even met Lisandra in person yet, so how could he truly judge her from their online conversations?

After dinner, Viktor returned to his room. He chatted with Lisandra, who was about to begin her professional training next week.

After their little discussion, Viktor started thinking about an issue that had been bothering him for the past few days.

As he was about to complete his invention in about two months, when filming started, it seemed like he would have nothing to do.

First of all, he wouldn't need to receive professional training like the rest of the band, since he could simply purchase the skills he wanted.

He also couldn't contribute much to the filming process, as he knew nothing about filmmaking.

He wondered what he could do to avoid wasting time. Maybe writing skills or something else would come to mind. In any case, he was confident that he'd come up with something efficient to do in the next two months.
