Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Rey Reed Smith was disgusted by the man's response. He had never felt so humiliated like this in his entire life. He had given him a chance, hoping that he would accept it, release Garry, and spread the bloodshed. But this man has rejected his offer.

Rey hated him. Surely, this man's pride will be his downfall. He was very wrong if he thought all the newly turned wolves he was harboring as a soldier would stop him. Rey will show him that there's a limit to a force in the universe that can stop him. He will show Lord Savannah and the black locust bandits that he is hosting something greater. He's hosting the spirit of their ancestor.

Surprisingly, Rey felt eager to test out some of Lord Rey's power. The man had given him a minute to use his power, and Rey would not waste precious time and strength. Within that minute, he will create havoc unlike any that Lord Savannah and his men have ever seen. He will show the lord and his men that there's someone greater than them, someone greater than Sebastian himself.

Faster than any of Lord Savannah's men could react, Rey pulled a short spear from the saddle of his horse. The spear was a beautiful one, with a well-honed mahogany shaft and silver tips and blade. Rey reached back, tapped into Lord Rey's strength and power, and then threw the spear with all his might.

The spear went through the air faster than an arrow would ever fly. Before Lord Savannah could take a step to avoid it, the spear went through his throat. It went all the way to his esophagus before coming out from the other side and then lodging in the wooden wall behind him.

The lord stood still for three good seconds with a huge hole in his throat and blood gushing out before he slowly raised his hand to touch the hole that was drilled by the spear.

Lord Savannah's eyes went wide open in shock and pain, and he looked down. His gaze met Rey, and he had a disbelief and respectful look on his face. Eventually, Lord Savannah slumped forward, over the balcony, and his body plunged to the ground. He kept tumbling down, end over end, for several seconds before he finally landed face-first on the earth, blood filling the spot.

Lord Savannah lay still, dead. He was killed by Rey Reed Smith, his dead body lying at the entrance to his castle.

The event shocked all the soldiers around Rey. They stood frozen, stunned, and none of them moved. They could hardly believe that their lord was dead. A few seconds ago, he was standing at the top of his balcony, mocking Rey. But now he was lying dead at the entrance of his castle.

"Thirty seconds left," Lord Rey said in Rey's head, bringing him out of his startling position.

Rey leaped up from his horse and raised his palm toward the soldiers at the entrance of the castle. Rey watched in amazement as a plasma orb shot out of his palm, collided with the dozens of soldiers, and threw them in different directions.

As Rey docked on his feet, he didn't allow the rest to react. He burst into motion, running with great speed that made him appear invisible and leaving a red and blue streak behind.

He raised his two palms, and two plasma orbs shot out—a red and a blue one. The plasma orb collided with the security inside, throwing them in different directions and giving Rey the chance to enter the castle. He didn't need to waste the remaining precious time he had with soldiers outside when he was still coming back to meet them.

Gathering all the strength and power of Lord Rey in his body, Rey leaped up, aiming for a pole that was located at the top of the arched gate above him.

Surprisingly, Rey went flying into the air. He could feel Lord Rey's power assisting him and pushing him upward. Without being told, Rey knew this man was indeed powerful. If a minute of his power could make him do so much, Rey wonders what destruction he will create if he is given full access to the power. No wonder he could not defeat the man in his dream.

Rey went flying into the castle through the narrow top of the gate and the arched stone. He landed safely on the other side of the bars, inside the courtyard, and he could feel Lord Rey's power leaving his body at the same time. Now, he is back to normal.

As much as Rey didn't want the power to leave, he had no choice. It doesn't belong to him after all. He borrowed it. Rey looked down, and he saw the soldiers outside trying to get through the same place he had. But they were struck. None of them could make it past the gate.

They didn't even have the skills or chance to jump as he did. Rey also noticed that there was no ladder or anything they could use to climb since they weren't expecting something like this. They were struck outside, and that gave Rey some time to find Garry.

Rey jumped from one balcony to another, swiveling his body in the air, and landed in a seamless roll onto his feet and got his bearings. As soon as he regained his feet, he prepared to attack the few soldiers within the castle.

The first or several black knights attacked Rey, but he was faster than every one of them. Rey kneeled and unsheathed his blade, the one that was given to him by Gaius. Rey plunged his blade into the man's stomach, finding a weak spot between where his armor meets his waistline. The man kneeled over, dropped his blade, and fell face down to the earth, dead.

Rey reached down, grabbed the man's blade, and stood on his feet. He wheeled around and threw the blade. He watched as the blade went flying in the air, striking a man on the gut and coming out. The force carried the man back, making him stab the next man behind him.

Rey kicked another man in the chest, sending him flying backward before he could swing his axe. At the same time, Rey took a short dagger from his belt and hurled it at an incoming soldier. It was perfect. The dagger pierced the soldier at the weak spot in his armor between his knee and thigh.

As the man came down, Rey lunged at him, his blade going first, and he used it to stab the man in the gut. Rey wheeled around and parried a blow from another man who attacked him from behind. He twisted the man's hand and kicked him in the chest. Before the man could hit the wall of the courtyard, Rey appeared behind him and stabbed him in the heart from behind.

Rey surveyed the courtyard, and he was satisfied to see that none of the men he fought was moving, and the courtyard was free. At least for the time being.

"Garry!" Rey screamed, running further into the castle. "Garry, can you hear me?"

Rey's screaming was met by another attacker who was coming around the bend. The man lunged at Rey from behind, grabbing his throat, and Rey could see that the man preferred hand-to-hand combat. If not, he could have easily stabbed him from behind.

Unfortunately, that was a great mistake on his part. Rey didn't have time for that. He grabbed the man's wrist, bent over, and flipped him with inhuman strength. As soon as the man collided with the earth, Rey stepped forward and stabbed him in the heart.

Another man charged toward Rey from behind with a blade, hoping to sneak up on him. Rey's survival instinct kicked in, and he wheeled out of the way. He followed by elbowing the man on the gut, grabbed him, and then threw him headfirst into the wall. The man's head collided with the wall, and he stopped breathing.

Rey wasted no time. He chose a direction that his gut told him to follow, which led into the heart of the castle, and he prayed that it was the right direction.

"Garry!" Rey screamed again. "Garry, can you hear me?"

A faint voice replied, "El monstrous!"

At first, Rey wasn't sure where the voice was coming from because he was too lost to focus.

"Rey Reed, I'm here." The voice came again, louder than the first.

Rey turned and saw a spiral step that led upward. He needed no one to tell him that's where the voice was coming from. He wasted no time and dashed toward the step. He was a few feet away when three soldiers came down on him.

Rey threw his blade, and it impaled itself in the stomach of the first one. Rey jumped out of the way to avoid colliding with the man's body, and he died while rolling down the stairs. As soon as the blade left Rey's hand, his fingernail was replaced with a claw. Not bothering to check it, he appeared in front of the remaining two men.

Rey grabbed the first one and threw him across the stairs with inhuman strength. He slashed the throat of the last man with his claw, and blood gushed out of his throat. Rey stepped aside and let the man stumble past him.

Finally, he climbed the last step, and he was welcomed with another shocking scene. A scene that left him speechless.
