Chapter 30 - Not The Main Character

The sect leader started drawing something beside the golden pill as he continued his explanation to Sifeng.

"I'm sure this pill can help you greatly. Not only will it give you proper control over your life force, but it will also enhance your elemental energy and provide an incredible energy boost."

After successfully drawing the spell formation with his life energy, making it glow brightly, he placed the golden pill on it and said,

"Consuming this pill directly might do more harm than good. The energy will be too much for you, and your body won't be able to handle it. Your soul might shatter due to energy overload, and your body will turn to nothing but ashes, just like the Wretch Beast you killed on the battlefield."

Sifeng couldn't help but look at the chief in a strange way at the mention of the Wretch Beast on the battlefield. Wasn't he the one, along with the elders, who designed the test in the first place, putting the kids in mortal danger? If it wasn't for Sifeng's wild energy, he would have died like the other kids. He stared at the chief as he continued.

"So instead of consuming the pill, this spell I created will break it into particles and absorb it into your body little by little until your life force reaches its cap."

The golden glow around the spell shone brightly and encased the pill. It swirled for seconds before the pill could be seen again, it was already breaking into tiny particles. A few minutes later, the pill was gone, leaving only the tiny particles moving within the glowing formation.

"Now, are you ready?" the chief asked Sifeng.

He hesitated for a few seconds before nodding his head. The chief then proceeded to input different symbols into the glowing spell formation.

When the last symbol was drawn, the particles within the glowing formation moved with golden sparks and shone dimly upon Sifeng. The particles started entering his body through his nose, mouth, and ears, and he could feel a surge of energy slowly pouring into his body.

His eyeballs changed from white to gold as the tiny particles poured into his body. At the same time, the glowing spell formation shone brighter than before. The process continued for minutes as the spell formation started glowing dimly while Sifeng's body seemed to shine brightly.

The tiny particles of the pill were slowly diminishing from the spell, and it looked like more than half of it had left the spell formation, pouring into Sifeng's body. The sect leader had a concerned look on his face as he didn't expect Sifeng to be able to absorb half of the energy pill. His prediction was a quarter, but the strange boy had absorbed more than half.

'Can he perhaps absorb everything?'

A clear worried look could be seen on the sect leader's face. It didn't look like Sifeng was feeling any type of energy overload; he looked rather calm and composed. His eyeballs had completely turned to gold, with no iris visible. The glow continued to shine brightly around his body while the spell formation was dying out. The golden energy with the pill particles would soon be extinguished from the spell, and it was only a matter of seconds before it completely disappeared.

Finally, only the drawing of the spell formation could be seen. The golden energy glow and the pill particles had completely left the formation, and the glow around Sifeng's body shone brighter than ever. The whole room was illuminated by the golden energy around him, and it seemed to be emanating an oppressive aura. Not enough to send chills down the chief's spine, though, but something else was happening to Sifeng. His eyes were still glowing with the golden energy.

Suddenly, Sifeng rose to his feet in one motion. The chief did the same, sensing that something was happening to the boy.

In the blink of an eye, a golden energy sword appeared in Sifeng's hand. He moved like a bullet, swinging the sword faster than the sect leader had ever seen. A large golden energy slash left the tip of his sword, heading straight for the sect leader.

The energy slash moved faster than a bullet and get to the sect leader in the blink of an eye, if the leader hadn't reacted in time by following his motion, he would have been sliced in two. He had risen to his feet after seeing Sifeng rise, preparing himself for the worst when the boy summoned his sword. He quickly moved to the side as soon as he saw Sifeng's hand move in a swinging motion.

He escaped by quick thinking and following his instincts.

'What's that? He told me he could only use two spells, but he didn't mention the weapon summoning spell. And how did he summon the sword so quickly without casting a spell?'

The man didn't have much time to think about it, though, because Sifeng was already on the move, his hand moving in a slashing motion again. Before the chief knew it, another golden energy slash left the tip of Sifeng's sword, heading straight for him. He dived down and quickly moved out of the way.

He had avoided the two energy slashes, but the same couldn't be said for the equipment behind him, at the back of the room. They all turned to nothing but ashes as the energy obliterated everything in its path.

Hitting the equipment didn't stop the energy, though, as it continued moving forward until it hit the wall, leaving a large diagonal rift.

The sect leader didn't have time to look at it, but he already knew a lot of damage had been done to all the equipment behind him and the training room.

'Something needs to be done, or else he'll destroy the room.'

"Sifeng!!!"

He shouted, trying to get Sifeng's attention, but the boy responded with another energy slash. The chief had prepared for this as he threw a punch forward, and a golden energy of the same size but different shape left his hand, heading straight for Sifeng's energy slash. The two collided in the middle and ceased to exist in a matter of seconds.

'Thank goodness I measured it right.'

He had measured the power of his own attack to match Sifeng's energy slash so he wouldn't hurt him.

"Sifeng!!!"

The chief shouted again, hoping to attract his attention. But just like before, Sifeng responded with another slash of his sword. This one was completely different from the previous slashes—not only was it larger and thicker, but it also shone brighter and wilder. The chief reacted with the same amount of energy as he threw a punch outward. The energy clashed in the middle, shaking the room violently. As they both disappeared, a large crater could be seen on the impact zone, separating the two.

When the chief looked up, the glow around Sifeng's body was still shining brightly, and it didn't seem like it would die down anytime soon.

'I need to do something. Others will get here soon because of the impact, and they must not find out that Sifeng can't control his power. They'll kill him on the spot in fear that he might lose control at any moment.'

He didn't want to hurt him, and it didn't seem like Sifeng would come back to his senses now. The elders would soon be here after feeling the impact of the power clash in the room. He needed to make a quick decision.

'I have no choice.'

The golden energy swirled wildly around the chief's arm, crawling up like a snake. Just as he was about to make a dangerous attack, he felt his head splattered into a milky pulp, a large hole the size of a human head appearing around his chest, and lastly, his upper body part being separated from the lower part of his body.

Looking up, it was as he had seen—three different energy slashes were heading his way: one to his head, another to his chest, and the last one to his waist.

"Oh no."

Reacting faster than ever, he moved his hand up and quickly created a large and thick golden energy shield that covered his whole body. The three attacks from Sifeng hit the energy shield, and once again, the impact shook the room. Both the shield and the three attacks dissipated, and the chief was sent flying back from the impact, his body hitting the wall.

Blood dripped from his mouth and nose, and his organs felt itchy.

'I guess I'm not the main character; it's the boy.'

It all happened in a matter of seconds. It hadn't even been up to a minute before the last attack, and the three slash came in just seconds.
