Chereads / Red and the Wolf / Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Lottie was filled with guilt. She was to blame for everything that happened to her and her grandmother.

"Since you believed me, will you let go of me now?" Lottie decided to try her luck.

Lottie held in her breath as she waited for his verdict.

After contemplating for a while Gio Wise finally moved his lips and uttered, "No, I can't let you go yet."

"Why? Why can't I go?" Lottie's face fell as she heard his answer. She didn't want to end up in his hands. Never.

Gio Wise was silent.

"Ms Lottie, your grandma was the one who stole that thing. And you're your grandma's only kin alive in this world. We need you to cooperate with us so that your grandma can give us back the thing" It was instead the man in black who replied. If not for him replying at that moment, Lottie would have forgotten about him. His presence was on the negative.

And what's with "the thing this", "the thing that", that they were talking about. What exactly is this "thing" for Gio Wise to imprison her grandma.

Lottie could not make it out.

Although Lottie didn't spend much time with her grandma as she had been sent to boarding school since she was three, she knew her grandma more than anyone else.

She definitely was not the type to steal no matter how poor they got.

Afterall, Lottie's family were noblemen by birth who fell from grace two decades ago.

Even Lottie herself was not entirely sure of the reason why her family turned this way. Everyone in her family except her grandma and mother passed away, with her mother dying after childbirth.

Since she was little, Lottie only had her grandma alone.

Lottie as a child would be overly curious about what happened to their family and would ask her grandma about it, but the latter would just brush it off. She knew her grandma did not want to burden her with the past. She was always grateful to her grandma for thinking about her.

But now Lottie wanted to know everything about the past.

What exactly happened back then for the Everhart family to be annihilated?

And why would her grandma steal the "thing"?

Lottie had to find out.

"Mister, can you please tell me what this thing you're talking about is?" Lottie turned to the man in black. It was better than conversing with Gio Wise who had a one-track mind.

At that moment, the quiet Gio Wise suddenly spoke up.

"Are you pretending to not know or do you really not know?" Gio Wise said mockingly.
