Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Her mother on the other hand was a beautiful lady skilled in instruments. Like her father, she also came from a noble background.

It was known far and wide that her parents fell in love at first sight at a ball.

Their marriage was the marriage of the century. Every bachelor envied Rain Everhart and all the maidens lamented at Charlotte Mayfair's luck.

Lottie Everhart was a product of their love.

Even though she led a normal life away from riches, she was still graceful and elegant. It was in her bones.

Moreover, she got all the good traits of her parents.

One could call Lottie poor, but never ugly.

Lottie was used to her looks so she didn't think of her looks as anything extraordinary.

From Kurt's descriptive storytelling, Lottie had an insight to the parents she never got to meet. It would be a lie if Lottie said that she didn't miss her parents.

Which child would not miss their parents?

Lottie was the same.

She was content having her grandma and her grandma gave her all the love she could give and more so that Lottie could grow up with love. But there were places only her father and mother could fill.

Lottie could feel her heart sink at the thought of her parents.

Noticing Lottie's dampening mood, Kurt decided to change the topic.

"Ms Lottie, please don't blame the general for this. He's not a bad man. It's just that the thing is of great importance to him."

"I understand." Kurt saw Lottie did not want to talk more about it so he kept quiet and watched the road with care.

They soon reached the Wise Mansion.

Acres and acres of land met the eyes with a huge mansion at the centre.

It was no wonder Gio Wise was able to find her so soon.

He was filthy rich. The guy was loaded. That, and his military strength of course.

Lottie was in awe.

It was truly a beautiful sight.

The gates opened as a butler rushed out to greet them.

"Welcome Lieutenant Connors, Ms Everhart. I've already arranged for Ms Everhart's room. This way please."

The butler led them as they walked along the flower field.
