Author's POV
As Sebastian received the call and listened to what the person on the other side said, his blood boiled. His jaw set hard, the veins on his forehead became visible, his eyes turned bloodshot, and his face reddened. In that anger, he broke the glass he was holding, which contained expensive liquor. The glass shards pierced his skin, and his hand started to bleed. The alcohol stung, but he didn't budge; he didn't even feel the pain. It was nothing compared to the news he had just heard.
**A few minutes earlier**
The call was from Tom. Sebastian was very happy because he had made his enemy tremble and lose everything. He answered the call, thinking he would hear about "his flower's" whereabouts and what she was doing. What he expected was true, but in a different way. He received the call.
"Hmm," he said.
"Hello, boss," said Tom from the other side. "Boss, I have bad news," Tom said in a scared voice. He knew Sebastian very well, and if Sebastian got angry, he wouldn't spare anyone. Sebastian's smile faded as he asked Tom very seriously, "What's that? Is Petal okay?"
"Yes, sir, Miss is alright, but..." Tom's hesitation made Sebastian lose his patience.
"Spit it out! Why are you taking so much time?" he roared at Tom.
"Boss, ma'am is going somewhere with her luggage," Tom replied quickly.
"What do you mean by 'going'? Isn't she with her family? Even if she is going, her father would take her there." Sebastian was angry but still asked calmly.
"No, boss, ma'am was alone, and she took a taxi. I tried to follow her, but when I went to my car, we lost track of her. We don't know where she went," Tom finished.
"You useless bastards! You couldn't even keep an eye on her! I'm going to deal with you all after I find 'my flower.' Now, take your cars and search the whole city. I'm coming," he shouted at Tom and smashed the glass he was holding. He got so angry. "Why did you disobey me, Petal? Wait till I find you; I'll punish you so you'll never think about running away from me again," he said to himself.
**Present**
He threw everything here and there to vent his anger, turning his own office upside down. If anyone entered now, they would think a fight had taken place, but he didn't care about anything. Then it occurred to him that he had to find his Petal. He searched for his car keys everywhere until he found them near the sofa. He took the keys with his bleeding hand. His hair was disheveled, his tie was absent, and his once-tucked shirt was now untucked. His hand was bleeding, and some bloodstains were visible on his white shirt. He came out of his company in this state, not caring what people would think. He was mad at her; he felt betrayed.
He got in his car and started driving with no destination in mind. He didn't know where his Petal was, or where to go. While driving, his eyes fell on the car's GPS display. It then occurred to him that he could track her with the locket in which Alex had fixed a tracker. Without wasting any time, he dialed Alex's number. After three rings, Alex picked up the call.
"Hello, boss," said Alex from the other side.
"Connect me to Petal's locket tracker now. I want to know her whereabouts in 10 minutes, and connect it to my phone. You too come to the spot with the other boys. I want five cars in total. Where are you? If you're near her location, then stop her by surrounding her taxi with your cars," Sebastian said.
"Okay, boss. I will immediately send you Miss's location and join you there with the boys in five cars, and do as you said," Alex replied. Within five minutes, Sebastian received Petal's location. He saw that she was heading toward the airport road, which made him even angrier. He started driving at high speed, gripping the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles turned white. His right hand began to bleed more, but he cared less about himself. Now all he could think about was what if Petal left him and went far away? What if she was gone forever? He was scared that 'his flower' would leave him. He continued driving toward the airport.
On the other side, Alex called his team members, took five cars, and asked them to head towards the airport. He also drove off toward the airport. They were close to where Petal was traveling in the taxi, so Alex and everyone drove at high speed to catch Petal and stop her from reaching the airport.
Petal, who was in the taxi, was in a trance. She was thinking about what would happen if Sebastian found out. What would he do to her if he found her? She was sad about how her life had taken such twists and turns that she was now running away from home, from her family, from the city where she had spent 20 years—all because of one person. She mentally prepared herself by saying, "Don't think negatively, Petal. Everything will be alright. He won't find you. Even if he does, you'll be far away from him by then, and you're not running away; you're protecting your family." She was calming herself.
She was still in a trance when the driver abruptly stopped the car, causing Petal to jerk forward and collide with the front seat as she was sitting in the back. It wasn't severe, but it hurt. She rubbed the spot where she had hit her head to reduce the pain, then asked the driver, "What happened? Why did you stop suddenly?" still rubbing her head.
"Mam, w-we are s-surrounded," the driver stammered, scared as he looked outside to see their taxi surrounded by cars.
"What?!!" Petal was shocked. "But why would anyone stop me, and with so many cars?" She panicked, scared that they might kidnap or kill her. Tears appeared on her face without her realizing it. Then it occurred to her just how scared she was—crying without even knowing, thinking about her family. The taxi driver tried to escape by getting out of the taxi and running away, but one of Sebastian's men caught him and made him kneel on the ground.
"Pl-please let me g-go. I did-didn't do any-anything," the driver pleaded, stuttering as he thought about the situation he had found himself in.
Alex stopped the taxi and surrounded it with other cars. He dialed Sebastian's number, and after two rings, Sebastian picked up the call.
"Hmm," he hummed from the other side. Everyone knew Sebastian was a man of few words.
"Sir, we stopped Miss and have now surrounded her taxi, waiting for you," Alex reported.
"Good, I'll be there in 10 minutes," Sebastian replied, hanging up the call. Alex saw the taxi driver trying to escape and gestured to one of his team members to prevent him from leaving. The team member caught the driver before he could get away.
Petal was so scared that she didn't know what to do. It was as if her mind had stopped working. She didn't even get out of the taxi; she didn't even notice when another car arrived.
Sebastian reached the spot where Alex had stopped Petal. He turned off the engine, got out of the car, and made his way to the taxi. The driver's side door was already open. He peeked through the driver's seat to the back, where Petal sat like a statue, tears continuously flowing down her cheeks, unaware that the devil had already caught her.
"Going somewhere, baby girl?" he said with a smile. When he said those four words, Petal snapped out of her shock, only to be met with another one. Her eyes widened as she saw the devil himself, shocked to her core to see him smiling. He was smiling at her instead of getting angry.
