Chapter 8 - My Mom Said

Yu Jing's group, which was assigned to YellowSpring Town, came outside of the sect gate and waited for their escorts to arrive.

As Yu Jing listened to Lily's chatter fest, their escorts arrived.

Yu Jing looked back and was surprised to see who one of their escorts was. 'Is this luck?'

"Yu Jing, if you had told me that you were going outside, then I wouldn't have to request that old man." Victor nodded slightly at the servant's bow before going to Yu Jing.

'Damn it, now more rumors will spread about me.' Yu Jing couldn't help but curse, seeing the whispers among the servants. Still, he was enraptured to see Victor request the old man, Darrek, to escort him. 'You did not disappoint me, Victor. I will think about increasing rewards to give you in the future.'

Yu Jing, with his disguise as a mortal, couldn't do much in danger or even betray any disciple betraying the sect. So he was happy there was someone who he was confident in to give him a sense of security in his heart.

"Brother Victor, you can't blame me like that. All of us were told about it just now." Yu Jing said it helplessly.

Victor patted Yu Jing's shoulder. "Why are you making that face? You kid, don't want to go outside and always stay inside the sect. This is a great opportunity to let you see the outside world. You will know how great it is to explore."

Yu Jing didn't want to let him continue on this topic, so he wanted to divert the topic to their main goal. However, at that moment, Victor caught his eyes on Lily, who was looking back at him with a pair of curious gaze.

Victor immediately acted like he understood everything and left before saying these words. "Sorry, Yu Jing. Let's go. I will not disturb you two."

Yu Jing was left alone with a darkened face and an embarrassed Lily.

Still, Yu Jing followed behind him and arrived before a horse carriage. They took the carriage and left the sect in a short while.

From asking Victor, he knew they would arrive in YellowSpring town in two days, so he decided not to cultivate secretly. He also learned about Victor's partner in this escort mission, as the sect doesn't do solo escort missions. His name was Mi Xhou, an outer sect disciple like him.

He was just in the 4th stage of the Qi Refinement realm, not worthy of Yu Jing's attention. It was also good that Mi Xhou is someone who likes to stay quiet.

Two days later, they arrived in YellowSpring town.

Fortunately, there was not any sort of bad guy encountered along the journey. However, Yu Jing was a bit disappointed, as he wanted to see Victor's sword skill in action and how much he had progressed in the Three Seasons Dance Sword Technique.

YellowSpring town was your typical town—nothing special except there being a low number of mortals. Even Yu Jing, who didn't know much about the outside world, was shocked when he felt so many cultivators with his spiritual senses. 'So weird. Do the cultivators do the daily work here?'

Yu Jing couldn't ask anyone why there was this phenomenon, so he could only wait until he roamed the town alone and asked the locals by himself.

Victor and Mi Xhou left after booking hotel rooms for them, finally letting them rest.

Slumping onto the bed, Yu Jing let out a sigh before making a sour look. 'Now this is getting a bit awkward.'

Yu Jing glanced to his side and saw Lily standing with her head down.

Yu Jing didn't expect Victor to book a room for them together. He thought Victor would separate boys and girls, but maybe because of the misunderstanding, he didn't do it.

'What is this luck?' Yu Jing stood up and wanted to explain when suddenly he heard Lily start speaking.

"Yu Jing, it's ok. I don't mind sleeping in the same bed as you." Lily spoke shyly as she wiggled her hourglass-like body.

Pat

Lily's body twitched when she felt Yu Jing's hands on her shoulders. She looked at him and saw a face full of remorse.

"Sorry, Lily. I can't do it. My mother has said not to sleep with any girl before marriage, and… and… I get scared sleeping with someone alone." Yu Jing left the room before leaving a few words. "You can take this room, my bed will be the bar."

Lily was left alone, dumbstruck. A few seconds later, she couldn't help but have this thought in her mind. 'What was he even saying? Is Yu Jing mentally ill?'

Leaving Lily in her room, Yu Jing wandered around the town alone.

Yu Jing wanted to know more about this town, but when he asked strangers, everybody dodged him, mostly cultivators. From the few mortals that answered him, he only got the basic knowledge that he already knew from Lily.

Seeing he wasn't getting anything, he left, as this was becoming a waste of time. However, along the way, he felt a certain gaze at him. To avoid suspicions, he didn't react and walked like nothing happened.

As he guessed, the gaze disappeared after a while. Yu Jing thought as he walked toward his hotel. 'I didn't stand to block a young master's road; I didn't mock a random old man or bump into strangers. So who is it?'

'Damn it! Is my sect servant guise not enough? No, I have to find out who it is, or I won't be able to cultivate.' Yu Jing headed toward his hotel with millions of thoughts flooding his mind.

Meanwhile, inside Yu Jing's former room,.

A man in a black cloak kneeled before Lily, who was sitting on the bed with her leg crossed. Her shyness had left her face and been replaced with coldness.

The man spoke in a hoarse tone. "Young Miss, I have further checked him. There is nothing wrong with him. He is nothing but a mere mortal."
