After arriving at a relatively safe place, Yu Jing let go of Victor.
Looking at Victor's face, Yu Jing decided to leave some words before parting ways to follow their own paths. "I know you have many questions, but I can't answer anything yet. Just remember this: your end is not in the Reverence Sect. Leave that place fast; there is a far greater place waiting for you."
As Yu Jing's only friend and a Connate Bearer, he can't let him die in the hands of demon cultivators this early.
When Victor came back to his senses, Yu Jing had already left the place.
Victor spoke to himself, his head hanging low. "Brother Yu Jing, you just wait. I will catch up to you."
Regaining his spirit, Victor headed towards other places to find some treasures for himself while also contemplating the words Yu Jing said to him.
…
On the other side, Yu Jing headed toward the main peak.
Along the way, Yu Jing checked how the event was progressing.
[ (1) Gather 1 kg worth of panacea or pills(Completed) ]
[ (2) Gather 5 pieces of best weapon and armor(2/5) ]
Except for the first one, the rest still have a long way to go.
Looking at the main peak ahead of him, Yu Jing knew that was the place where he could complete the event in one go.
Just as Yu Jing predicted, the second task of gathering five pieces of the best weapon and armor was after rummaging through the main peak.
Finally, Yu Jing looked up, setting his sights on the Sect Hall. The source of the bloody stench and the red, devilish aura. Raising his vigilance to the top, Yu Jing sprinted towards the Sect Hall as the answers he wanted to find were all there.
Entering through the open gates of the Sect Hall, Yu Jing was greeted with piles of bones and flesh littering everywhere. Yu Jing's face twitched upon seeing these, as this was his first time witnessing such a hellish scene. Still, he walked forward, motivating himself.
As Yu Jing went on the bloody road, he started to become numb to gore. It didn't take long for Yu Jing to arrive before the main hall, where the sect master and elders meeting were held.
The sound of fighting entered his ears the moment he came close to the main hall. Entering through the door, Yu Jing saw several men in black cloaks fighting against four young men and women from different sects. Yu Jing's arrival didn't cause the fighting to stop. Because of the system's function, Yu Jing was just a mortal, resulting in him not having any kind of aura.
However, there was one person who noticed Yu Jing.
"Yu Jing, you!? Why are you here?" Yu Jing turned his head toward the source of the familiar voice and saw it was none other than Lily.
Lily's sudden shout stopped the fighting, making everyone focus on Yu Jing.
Seeing everyone looking at him, Yu Jing awkwardly waved his hands. "Ahh… sorry everyone for disturbing you. You guys continue; I will watch from the sidelines."
However, no one let Yu Jing go. The young men and women started to question Yu Jing.
"Hey! You are just a mortal. How can you come deep into the Sect Hall?"
"Maybe he is hiding his cultivation. Maybe disguising himself as a mortal, he is sneak attacking everyone and is able to escape easily too."
"Hmph! You are thinking too much. He must have a treasure in his hand, which lets him be immune to the devilish aura. Also, who can hide their cultivation? Not even our sect ancestors can do it."
"He is right. Ignore him. He can't do anything to us. Let us focus on the enemy ahead of us."
Yu Jing almost shed a tear after hearing them let him go. 'Sure enough, ignorance is bliss. What a great young man.'
However, there was another group here who couldn't ignore him. The men in black cloaks surrounded Lily and looked at Yu Jing worriedly, making the young men and women confused.
"What are you doing? Didn't you hear what they said? I am just a mortal; you don't have to be cautious of me. I just accidentally wandered here." Yu Jing tried to ease them up a little, but it completely backfired.
Because for them, Yu Jing's words were mocking them, telling them to underestimate him too.
"Yu Jing, I was right. You are not mortal. You are a cultivator, hiding among the mortals. What are your goals?" Lily questioned him with her sharp eyes. There was no longer the attitude of the girl next door from her.
Seeing her not biting the bait, Yu Jing let his pretense go. He replied back with a smile. "That is what I should be asking you. What are you doing in the Reverence Sect, acting like a mortal? Don't tell me you are trying to experience the earthly ways inside an orthodox sect as a demon cultivator. What are you? Some kind of Heavenly Demon?"
However, to Yu Jing's complete surprise, he seems to have guessed right. Lily stuttered with her eyes wide open. "Ho- How do you know we are from the Heavenly Demon? Is your goal the same as targeting us?"
"Huh?" Yu Jing was left agape, as he didn't know what to say. He just wanted to joke around using his fantasy novel experiences, but he didn't expect to hit a bullseye.
At that moment, a sudden mutation occurred. The Sect Hall began to vibrate widely, the devilish began to riot, and a strong sense of might began to permeate through the hall. Yu Jing finally looked at the broken sect master's seat and saw a skeleton sitting cross-legged.
Despite it having no eyes, Yu Jing felt the skeleton was looking straight at him, trying to find his secret. Fortunately, the system's function was there, so the skeleton wasn't able to find anything.
Everyone in the hall looked at the skeleton and stood silently. There was a sense of fear in their hearts.
Eventually, the skeleton spoke without opening its mouth. "Who here dares to call themselves Heavenly Demons?"
