Chapter 4 - A Sudden Visitor

The sun just peeked its head above the horizon, and Yu Jing habitually opened his eyes.

But this time it was not from sleep. It was from a deep cultivation session.

"So this is what it feels like to be a cultivator. No wonder cultivators lose their sense of time." Yu Jing sighed in wonder and felt the strong surge in strength in his body.

After reading through the cultivation technique, he learned where he was at now.

The cultivation realms are followed as such — Qi Refinement, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core, Nascent Soul, Soul Formation, Void Amalgamation, Body Integration, Tribulation Transcendence and lastly, Mahayan.

Yu Jing was a 1st stage Qi Refinement cultivator, and he had a long way to go. The reason he was able to learn these many cultivation realms was because of the upper limit of the Crimson Earthly Breathing Technique.

Yu Jing had to say that he underestimated purple-tier items. 'Maybe there are also differences in the same-tier items.'

Yu Jing also learned another thing. If someone uses a cultivation technique suited for their connate province, their cultivation journey would be much smoother than others.

He could help but smack his lips, thinking about it. "So I have to get lucky enough to get a technique suited for me. Can I even rise with this gamba system?"

However, he threw away this kind of thinking instantly. The things he could get were more than anyone could dream of.

"Anyway, I will not fight. So it doesn't matter how long I have to wait." In a jolly mood, he went to work. He wanted to finish fast today, so that he could try his sword technique and continue cultivating.

Two years passed just like that.

Yu Jing came back from his work and looked at his profile as a growing habit.

[ Name : Yu Jing ]

[ Lifespan : 16 ]

[ Race : Mortal ]

[ Cultivation : 4th Stage Qi Refinement Realm ]

[ Technique : Crimson Earthly Breathing Technique, Three Seasons Dance Sword Technique ]

[ Mystical Power : None ]

[ Connate Province : The Mortal Sword God ]

These two years, Yu Jing was living very peacefully. With no conflict, he was able to grind to the 4th stage easily.

He also felt the advantages of the Crimson Earthly Breathing Technique. When the sun is up, the Crimson Earthly Breathing Technique will automatically take the Spirit Qi, and at night, it will take the Spirit Qi from the earth to complement the speed.

"Tch, Tch. This thing is completely wasted on me. I can't imagine someone with fire-related power using it." After gloating a bit about others' luck and feeling pride in himself, Yu Jing began to start his cultivation.

Knock! Knock!

But at that moment, a knock came from his door, alerting Yu Jing and making him nervous.

'Who is it? Did I do something wrong today? I didn't pick up anything or even glance at those sisters' backs.' Wiping his sweat off, Yu Jing stood up. 'Calm down, you idiot. Let's first see who it is. With the blocking function and my status as a servant, no one will lay a hand on me.'

Filling himself back with courage, Yu Jing went to open the door. To his surprise, it wasn't some high and mighty elder or an arrogant disciple he thought of, but a heavily injured and ragged-clothed young outer disciple.

"Brother, can you let me in?" The outer disciple asked as he clutched onto his right arm.

Yu Jing was a 4th Stage Qi Refinement Realm cultivator, so he could clearly see if these injuries were fake or not. Seeing the disoriented Spirit Qi in his body and constant bleeding, Yu Jing didn't wait any further.

"Senior brother, come in fast." Letting the disciple's one arm rest on Yu Jing's shoulder, he carefully led him into his room.

Laying the outer disciple on his bed, Yu Jing went to bring a bucket of water and multiple pieces of loin cloth. As Yu Jing washed away the blood and patched the wounds, he asked. "Senior brother, may I know your name?"

"My name is Victor, an outer disciple."

This cultivation world was different from what Yu Jing had in mind. It wasn't just filled with Chinese names and myths; it was a mixture of every culture on earth.

"And my name is Yu Jing, senior brother." Yu Jing replied back.

At that moment, Victor laughed slightly. "You don't have to call me senior. Just call me Victor."

"How can I? It will be a sin for this servant if I call you that." Yu Jing became nervous as he didn't want to give the impression that he—a mortal—was the same as a cultivator.

Victor understood his worries, so he said. "Then you can call me brother Victor. I want you to address me just that way."

"Thank you, brother Victor." Yu Jing sighed in relief.

Then he continued treating Victor without striking up any conversation.

After a few minutes, Victor asked. "Don't you want to know how I ended up in this situation?"

Yu Jing instantly shook his head. "No. I am just a mortal. What can I even do trying to know what cultivators do?"

Victor looked at Yu Jing in a new light before chuckling. "I didn't misjudge you. You might not know me, but I know you very well. Without you, my house would have been littered with blood. I can't thank you enough for that. For cleaning a useless cultivator's blood of defeat."

Yu Jing saw the smile on Victor's face as a mockery of himself. He couldn't help but sigh in sorrow. 'This is the fate of every cultivator who has no talent or power.'

'So my path of becoming a powerhouse is the right one.' Yu Jing was filled with energy thinking about it. He couldn't wait to head back to continue cultivating, but he has to tend to this new guest of his.

After Yu Jing was done treating Victor, he got up to drop the dirty water. But he saw Victor's face full of sorrow. He knew that face very well; it was the one that took his best friend's life.
