Rey Reed Smith POV
I stood at the top of the rugged earth of the UR planet, my eyes locked on the approaching figure in the distance. He was the formidable commander of this alien world. The one who dared to kick me from behind.
At the thought of that, my rage boiled.
Who dared sneak an attack at his opponent from behind? I asked myself. Coward! Only a coward does such things.
One of the things I hate is getting attacked from behind. I gritted my teeth at such humiliation. A mere commander dares to touch a god like me. I will make sure he suffers the consequences.
I examined him from head to toe, his suit sparkling with advanced tech, and I need no one to tell me that he was good at harnessing advanced technologies that could manipulate the very fabric of reality, and he also knows how to use the power that came from his planet, just like I can do in mine.
The air hummed with an electric tension as the two of us prepared to clash in a battle that would determine the fate of the UR planet. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw our soldiers activating a standby mode to watch the fierce clash.
My suit shimmered with faint energy as I activated my arsenal of cutting-edge weaponry. Nano-enhanced armor covered my body, offering protection against both physical and energy-based attacks. My gauntlets crackled with stored energy from my planet, including all the universes I had destroyed, ready to unleash devastating pulses at my command. As I flexed my fingers, the surrounding earth seemed to respond, forming barriers of solid light to shield me from incoming fire.
"What does he think of himself?" I heard what the commander's men said with the help of the nano-hearing device in my suite.
It's a technology I developed myself, using the echolocation of a bat, just like Dr. Morpheus. I even upgraded mine by using a tympanal organ that's located in the Noctuid Moth's thorax.
The tympanal organ is a very fascinating structure in Noctuid Moths' organs! It consists of a thin membrane called the tympanum, which is surrounded by a ring of sensilla (specialized sensory cells). When a sound wave hits the tympanum, it causes it to vibrate. The vibration is then detected by the sensilla, which converts it into a nerve impulse that's sent to the moth's brain. This allows the moth to process the sound and determine its source and direction. It's like the moth has its built-in hearing aid, which also allows it to survive predators like bats.
There are a few creatures that have exceptional hearing abilities, including whales, and dolphins. Bats use echolocation to locate food, and they can hear sounds at a frequency of up to 120 kHz, which is far above the range of human hearing.
Since I'm not a bat or moth, I see no reason I can't create one of em for my suit.
"Commander Zara'Kul is undefeated!" I heard another one praising their commander, earning a dirty smirk from my lips. I will surely break that unbeaten record today.
I listened attentively, hoping to hear any of my men praising me, too, but they made no sounds. They are well-trained and won't cheer unless we win the battle. It shows that they are obedient.
The commander, whose name I had known as Zara'Kul, stepped forward confidently. Instantly, I let out a battle cry and charged, meeting him in a great battle clash.
As the battle began, our forms seemed to blur as we moved, a testament to our mastery over cloaking technology. I could see Zara'Kul's weapon materializing in his hand—a sleek, elongated device that emitted waves of pulsating energy. With a casual flick of his wrist, he sent a surge of energy hurtling toward me.
Reacting swiftly, my gauntlets absorbed the incoming energy, converting it into a counterattack. Beams of blazing light erupted from my fingertips, converging on Zara'Kul's position. I saw the commander's cloak waver, revealing his location briefly before it shifted again, narrowly avoiding the assault. A wave of distortion followed Zara'Kul's movements, creating ripples in the air that betrayed his path.
I leaped into the air, my boots emitting bursts of energy that propelled me higher. I aimed my arm toward the ground and released a shockwave, causing the ground to ripple and crack beneath Zara'Kul's feet. The commander stumbled, temporarily losing his cloak's advantage. Seizing the opportunity, I fired a barrage of energy projectiles, forcing Zara'Kul to erect a shimmering force field to deflect the onslaught.
As the battle raged on, I noticed that the landscape itself seemed to come alive. Trees uprooted themselves to form entangling barriers; rocks levitated and hurled themselves towards their foes as directed by shockwaves from our technology; and streams of water coalesced into shimmering projectiles. The planet's very essence responded to the clash, integrating technology and nature into a harmonious symphony of power.
My eyes caught a glance of Zara'Kul's eyes as they glowed with determination, which also accessed a hidden reserve of energy from his planet. With a sweeping gesture, he unleashed a torrent of energy waves that cascaded toward me. The ground quaked, and cracks spread in every direction as the unleashed energy threatened to overwhelm my defenses. I gritted my teeth, channeling my energy to create a pulsating shield that absorbed the onslaught. The strain was palpable, but I held firm.
Seeing an opening, I unleashed a powerful burst of energy from my chest, forming a brilliant beam that pierced through the energy waves. The beam struck Zara'Kul's force field, causing it to flicker and distort. I continued to pour energy into the attack, the brilliance of my assault blinding all who beheld it for a minute.
Zara'Kul's force field shattered, and the commander was knocked back, his cloak dissipating in the wake of my overwhelming energy. Gasping for breath, he struggled to stand as I approached, my gauntlets crackling with energy. But before I could deliver the final blow, a voice echoed through the battlefield.
"Enough!"
The voice belonged to the planet itself, an artificial consciousness that had observed the battle. I knew this because I did the same to my planet, and beside it power surged, enveloping the commander of the planet in a cocoon of shimmering light. The energy flowed through him, knitting his wounds and restoring his strength.
Seeing this, I spoke to my suit, "Activate fast-regenerating serum for my body."
"Regenerating serum activated," The AI responded, "the process will be complete in the next 3.2.1. Healing completed."
I sighed. I felt my body healing again, and just then the planet's AI spoke again, its tone somber yet resolute.
"Your struggle has been witnessed, and a choice must be made. Will you continue down the path of destruction, or will you find a way to reconcile your differences and forge a new future?"
"Not until they consider me their god," I remarked. "If they fail to do so, I will destroy this planet and everything on it, including you."
I heard a chuckling sound, which I presumed came from the AI: "I've considered those possibilities, and I can see that you won't stop until you achieve your aim. It's why I take necessary precautions."
Necessary precautions, I thought in my mind.
"Sir, I discovered an anonymous message that can never be intercepted going out from this planet to every lively planet in the universe."
My rage erupted like a volcano. "What have you done?"
"What other planet needs to survive and how to defeat a tyrant like you!" the commander said, smiling. "So, even if you defeat us and destroy our planet, you won't succeed on the next planet."
"Reed, intercept the message!" I yelled at my AI. "You must never allow it to be delivered."
My AI responded, "I'm sorry, but it's too late. The message can't be deciphered or intercepted by me."
