Chapter 1 - Chapter-1 Rest in peace...

"Grove 04 is going to explode, please evacuate as soon as possible."

"Only 1 minute 46 seconds are left in explosion, please evacuate..."

Amidst the wild roars of the endless stream of zombies, the cold electronic female voice could be heard as red lights flashed in the base. The zombies were densely packed in the corridors and the rooms of the base, like bees swarmed in a bee hive.

These zombies seemed to be attracted to something in the centre of the base. The zombies, which were usually slow to react, seemed to have encountered the sweetest delicacy that could quench their endless hunger for human flesh. While ignoring the endless warning of the base's central system, they ran towards the centre of the base frantically.

At the centre of the base, a transparent container in the shape of a big tube filled with an unknown blue liquid was placed. It was surrounded by the zombies from top to bottom. Because of the zombies covering the tube, nothing could be seen inside it.

However, what normal eyes could not see was the abundant spiritual energy scattered in the air around the transparent tube.

"1 minute countdown is going to start before the explosion."

As Imanuel heard this cold electronic voice, he slowly opened his beautiful crystal blue eyes. What appeared in front of him were the ugly and disgusting Zombies with blood and green mucus all over their half-eaten and incomplete bodies.

This scene could be called a terrifying nightmare that could leave people with trauma for the rest of their life. However, Imanuel's eyes didn't even fluctuate as he looked at these zombies who were desperately trying to break the transparent tube that contained him.

"57....56.....55...."

This countdown finally brought Imanuel back to his senses. His mind, which was still empty and groggy like an old machine, finally started working. It took him a few seconds to realize his current situation.

He was inside a transparent glass container filled with blue liquid, and he could clearly feel a number of big tubes attached to his back. These tubes were originally inserted to suck energy from his body. But it might be because the equipment was broken, it was not working anymore.

"36....35.....34....."

Imanuel knew that this was the voice of the main system, which controlled the whole base. He slowly gathered his overflowing spiritual power and spread it throughout the base to sense if there was any presence of a human life.

Once he was certain that there was no human in the base except for himself, he immediately tried to gather his uncontrollable spiritual energy without any disappointment.

"25....24....23...."

Hearing the seconds receding steadily as the time of explosion was coming near, Imanuel did not plan to escape at all. His mood was very calm and peaceful when facing such a situation. It was really unlike a person who was going to die in less than a second.

"16....15....14...."

While listening to the countdown of the explosion, Imanuel looked at the slight cracks on the glass container. He invested all his remaining energy in gathering his spiritual power, which was spilling out when he was unconscious. As he retracted his spiritual power, the restlessness of the zombies also calmed down to some extent.

At least, this could slow down the speed of these living dead who wanted to break the container.

After all, even if he did not have any objections to death, he did not really want to be the dinner of these ugly zombies.

"10...9....8..."

Maybe it was because his death was approaching, Imanuel couldn't help but think.

" Is this how people feel when facing death?"

"5.....4....3....."

"It's a pity, I haven't even tried Luca's cooking..."

"2....1....0...."

….

Far away from the base Grove 04, a large number of refugees who were walking on the road couldn't help but kneel down due to the impact of the earth shaking explosion that took place. Even the well-trained elite soldiers couldn't hold back. They could hardly control themselves from kneeling down.

As the explosion finally subsided, all of them looked towards the source of this blast. The refugees who were huddling together out of fear saw a very strange scene. Almost all the soldiers protecting them had red eyes as they looked towards the source of explosion. Some weaker ones who couldn't hold back and cried in a heart-breaking manner.

Looking at the obvious weak state of his comrades and subordinates, the stern faced man, who was leading the whole team, did not say anything. He silently looked in that direction with red eyes and said in a low voice that no one could hear," Rest in peace...."

The sky was quickly filled with dark clouds, and it didn't take long before the rain started dropping, which seemed to contain the sad emotions and cries for the lost souls. On this day, even the earth seemed to be sad after losing a bright star.

....

Lucian, who had already died, felt a strange warmth as if he had returned to nothingness. He seemed to be unconscious yet completely conscious. He couldn't help but curl up in this unusual warmth. He had never felt so comfortable during his whole lifetime while living on earth.

"Is this how it feels after death?"

"It's not that bad...."

He heard some vague sounds that he could not infer.

"Hm? Who's talking?"

"Maybe another dead person..."

"Should I try to talk with them?"

Lucian wanted to open his mouth to talk, but unfortunately, he tried in vain. He soon got tired of it and planned to take a rest before trying again. Sleeping in this warm place, he did not have any idea about time or place. He didn't know how long it had been since he slept, but he felt particularly comfortable.

He was quite unconcerned about his current state, but someone else was extremely anxious about it.

"Doctor! I am already six months pregnant, and yet my child has not shown any signs of movement...."
