Sheesh, I've never been so stressed out in my life! Whatever happens to buildup man! Back on Praxia, we had preparation time. when we get invaded, we know the enemy is coming. We are prepared and ready for the fight.
The rules have changed. There seems to be no wait time, no cool off, no time outs, no breaks. Either you step up or you get left in the dust.
The priest survived the attack it seems, as his guards were able to fend off the attackers before they finished the job.
Everyone rushed to the town square, my mother holding me in her arms.
"Oi, I'm telling you mates, these bunch of whacka bludgers (translating it to lazy idiots) are a bunch of dipsticks for attack the old priest! Sorry luv for the bad words. My emotions got the best of me." Patting Vis' head.
"We must stay vigilant brothers, we must stay vigilant." The town prankster Bob said. Even he looks agitated. "I say, we form a group, and hunt down the Xenos scums".
"What's a Xenos mate?" Mr. Kala asks.
"Xenos brother. You know, evil foreign looking men? It's a word that we use down the south in Tema." Bob said.
"Right."
"Anyway, we must ensure the safety of our people. These attacks are becoming frequent and if we don't stand our ground, we might get overrun. I say, we hunt them down for the bugs that they are and squash them beneath our feet. Who's with me? " Bob said with determination.
It seems that I underestimated Bob. Bob is actually a decent and dependable guy. I might recruit him when I have the chance. He might be the person to temporarily stave off the invasion.
"We are!" A group of tough looking men and women shouted. They seem to be adventurers of sorts.
"So shall we be!" Another group responds. They looks like a bunch of hunters.
"Thank you for the fiery speech Bob." The town mayor, Mayor Hose Bosse said. "As a former adventurer, it is up to us to protect our town. We cannot rely on the far away cities for protection. It is our duty to protect our loved ones and properties."
"Let us meet up later in the Town Hall. For now, everyone go back to your homes and stay vigilant for suspicious characters. Dismissed!" The Boss said. Yep, I'll call him The Boss.
Among the people here, The Boss is the most different. He has an eyepatch in his right eye. He's tall, tanned, has a sharp and tall nose with a white mustache and a square jaw. He wears a working cap, vest and trousers and has a walking cane. I think he might be in his 60's, but the guy is built like a wall and he looks like he never skipped soldier training till this day. He walks with a limp but I have a suspicion it's just a ruse.
On Earth, he's what we call, racially ambiguous. These guys are usually the mix of all the 7 races, purposely bred and trained to be humanity's' top leaders and soldiers. We call them the Ultramenschen or Ultramen. The Ults for short.
My father looks worried. He may look tough, but he's farm tough, not soldier tough.
Father seems to be the type who never fights and avoid confrontation. Still, he looks like he has potential to be a good soldier if trained enough.
The rest of the men scatter as our family goes back to our house. I need to find a way to be stronger or it won't be long till this town is taken over.
At home, I told my sister to sit down at the side of the bed and hold me in her arms. I'm going to pray hard and hopefully reach the Creator for advice. He has billions of years of experience after all.
