So, while waiting for the worms to grow. Vi and I decided to do some test runs. I told her to take some worms from the ground outside, find a piece of metal and use a rock to fashion it into a hook as thin as possible and we are all set. She told our parents that she would try fishing to help us with our food issues. They asked where she learned fishing, she told them someone she knows taught her how to.

They were delighted to hear it, as our food stock is getting scarce due to the slow market and the price of food is getting expensive. People now patrol the streets and surrounding areas of the town, instead of doing the usual farm work.

Sadly, they still have no lead on the child kidnappings and the stabbings. The kidnappings and stabbings stopped happening though, which is a good thing. Why the evil ones start to make a move now is a mystery to me.

Vi, my father and I, together with some of our neighboring kids went to the river to do some simple line and hook fishing. For now, she will only use one hook but later on I will tell her to make more hooks, to maximize our changes of getting fish. I told her to make a small spear out of wood and to bring some rocks and put it in her back pack, in case we run into trouble. She agreed and did so.

She also brought thick cooking mittens so she could hold the line without injuring her hands. I hope we catch a big one. (Hopefully).

I told her to watch where the birds go, as they usually know where the fishes are.

I told Vi to hide in the nearby trees and watch out for birds hunting for fish. My father asked her why she is hiding at the back of the tree, she explained to him the reasoning behind it. He understood the logic and decided to accompany her at the back of the trees. The other children did the same.

After waiting for 20 minutes, sadly, no birds tried hunting fish.

Oh well, we went to the deeper part of the river where the water is calm and started fishing.

After a few minutes, the children are catching some fish, they seem to know what they are doing. They offered some tips to Vi and she was able to catch some fish as well later on. Our father for some reason did not catch any fish, to our surprise. Father said that this usually happens when he tries to fish, he just doesn't have any luck fishing.

Still, everyone was happy with the result, as we caught 5 fishes in the span of 2 hours I think early in the morning. (I just use my intuition to from my past life to judge the time).

We went back to town without any incident. Gave 2 of our fishes to one of the kids who were struggling with food more than us. His face lit up with joy as he thanked us for the fish and ran home quickly. His father just recently died and he has 2 small sisters to feed. Her mother is currently sick from working too much in the fields. When I grow up more, I'll help Vi with the fishing, so I can help this family, I vowed to myself.

(To be continued).
